I’d been doing really well for the past few weeks, remembering to put out our Wednesday weekly discussion post right on time, but today in all the Transformers excitement it slipped my mind. Better late than never!
As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.
Around the web:

Excitement of transformers? That’s Vic trying to be nice to us transformers lovers.
I subscribe to Dan Brown .com
I recieved an email the other day saying that in anticipation of the release of his new novel ,The lost Symbol, fans can exapect cryptic clues and riddles throughout the summer.
It sounds like a viral campaign promoting the book,
which could be a precursor to a viral marketing campaign for any possible film adaptation of the novel.
I loved transformers. BUT thats been hashed to death already. Im wondering, what all the hype is about, for “the hangover”? i felt like i was watching superbad….5 years later. It was the same highschool humor, but done by guys of post college age. I was left totally disappointed and not sure how people loved it so much that they are seeing it 4 or 5 times!
@voice of reason
i don’t think its him being nice… i think its his way of further mocking those that liked it and/or loved it. Either way its stupid to defend transformers in screenrant when the owner doesn’t like it. I remember him actually saying to one of the commenters… “its my site so i win”. So why even bother…? To all those that liked the movie if i think we should just let them talk bad about the movie and let them go in a continuous loop of why they hate it and all of there hoopla. That way we can move on to the next subject and probably the next movie they’re going to hate and/or dislike. Some are probably going to say oh that they don’t hate it or whatever and respond to what i’m saying but this will be the only comment on this thread.
You know, I’m not getting all this hate for people who didn’t like Transformers. It’s a frakking movie, guys! Vic has hated movies I liked but I still think he’s a great blogger. This is an opinion site, you know.
I think Hasbro has missed a huge opportunity. They are in a unique position where they have products that appeal to both kids and adults. Let’s face it most men who were kids in the ‘80’s played with G.I. Joes and or Transformers- Most of these men have kids who are the perfect age to discover these toys.
Hasbro should have gone into the project with the intention of making 2 cuts of the same movie- a Rated R and PG-13 version. Hire a real director and make a high quality adult oriented movie. In the editing room, cut the movie down to appeal to the kids and insert some light hearted comedy, Robocop suits and other Stephen Sommers type crap. Adult men could see the Joe movie we deserve and we’ll have to go take our kids to see the watered down version… What a tender, sharing moment for a father and son. And when the DVD is released, most dads will have to buy both versions. A version for us, and one for the kids. Hasbro gets to keep life-long fans and keep selling toys to a new generation. It makes perfect sense.
@jago
Dude, freaking relax. I wasn’t “mocking” anyone. By “excitement over Transformers” I meant the fact that I had to see the movie, write the review, and spent a lot of time reading/responding to comments.
And the only reason I pulled out the “my site” card in one particular discussion was because frankly it had gone round and round in circles and had been beaten to death and I was just sick and tired of wasting my breath.
I have no problem with people disagreeing with me in a logical, intelligent fashion. But when I *repeatedly* give specific bullet points as to what my problems with a movie are, and someone’s reply is essentially “you’re an elite, snobby Michael Bay hater,” I dismiss that person’s opinion immediately.
Vic
You’re an elite, snobby Michael Bay hater, Vic! (j/k)
Love your reviews. Keep ‘em up.
@ Jago. Man, if you’re not into ScreenRant that much, and you’re going to keep posting rude comments, then, please save it to you, and look for another site. Really, Vic’s opinion are not the “ultimate” review of a movie and neither are your’s. It’s all a subjective point of view of each little person in the whole world.
@ Gary. What do you mean with ” fans can expect cryptic clues and riddles throughout the summer”. Will they e-mail you them, or will they be on the site?
I think more mocking on the site would be welcome. Weeds out all those without a backbone.
You are all filthy targs in a sea of petaQs!! You have no honor!!!
How is that for mocking?
Man, I just heard that Farrah Fawcet died….may she Rest In Peace.
TF2 has earned 61 million on it’s opening Wen night(previous record was Order of the Phoenix @ approx 45 million in about 1200 MORE theaters) TDK opening day was 67 million in about 1500 more theaters and a Friday…
That is a shocker to me…I’m speechless!! I know there’s a first time for everything..
Random thought for an open discussion.
Whenever Shawshank REdemption is on TV I will always watch it because it is a great movine. I bought the DVD a couple months ago yet still haven’t watched it, let alone opened. I know that if I caught in TV, I would for sure. Wierd.
@Cantizzle
I’m like that with a lot of movies.
I own them … won’t get them out to watch … then feel like a complete idiot sitting there watching the “edited for content and time” version on TV.
My main culprits:
Dumb and Dumber
Oceans 11
And almost any comic book movie on F/X.
I thought Transformers was watchable but little else. I’m not a hater either the plot/script and acting was simply secondary to the SFX and body shots of Meghan Fox.
I hear yah cantizzle I’m a sucker for watching Stargate reruns even though I have the series on DVD.
I’m growing tired of Sookie’s whiny character on True Blood. How many screw ups can she make. Despite the nudity I’m wishing more and more than she appears less and less.
I just sent off my third WTF email to Sci-Fi about Eureka, I fear even with Caprica coming that station is doomed.
Lots of hungry people with simple taste, GK333.
One thing that singles out almost every fan of Transformers, “I just wanna see huge robots kicking ass”
Here’s your cake and mountain dew,,, yummy,,,
Iron Knight,The email I recieved From Dan Brown.com hinted at what I believe to be a viral campaign for the new Dan Brown book,
The Lost Symbol.
I did not mean to imply there would be updates here at Screen Rant.
I willl let people here know if I recieve any “clues”
and where they might be able to find them.
I believe there is a website called The Lost Symbol.com.
Content will be added there throughout the summer.
Now Dan Brown is over-rated…highly..
@ 790
mmmmmmm…cake and mountain dew….aaahhhhhhhhhhggggggg
You type a pretty convincing Homer Simpson, GK333.
Micheal Jackson was just found dead in his hotel.
Its up on Drudge.
Yeah, weird.
@ 790 and Richard. Yeap, a lot of websites claim that he is dead. Both him and Farrah Fawcett in one day…
That’s who I was going for 790..too bad about MJ though .. I always pitited him because he never had a childhood and even with all his money he never could go back or relive it no matter how hard he tried..Ed M, Farrah F and now MJ. It as always said by my parents that these things tend to happen in threes…it is one of those mystical numbers…
I don’t have any feelings toward MJ the guy was a pedophile.
The hosptial out here were he died is a mob scene. 6 helocopters hovering over UCLA. His fans are insane…
So are Elvis & Beatles fans..was he ever convicted with the smoking gun 790..I’m asking because I never really followed any of that “media” coverage years back?
Jackson was found not guilty. Afterwards it was pretty obvious the plantiff was paid off…
That trial was the beginning of the end for him.
I have some very funny Michael Jackson jokes, which might seem inappropriate now… Good thing I said them to my friends yesterday before it was announced that he had died, what a coincidence…
Anywho, the TF2 opening was completely expected, and I’m glad because my friends wanted to go see it and was going to drag me along, and “unfortunately” it was all sold out when we got there, lmao!
Crazy fans FTW!
