  1. I WONDER WHO THEY’LL GET TO PLAY CAPTAIN AMERICA?

  2. @vic
i heard john singleton was going to direct luke cage with tyrese gibson playing the role and what exactly is heroes for hire? is that like some sort of marvel team-up type thing?

  3. Thanks, for the welcome GUNSMITH.

  4. Do you think that the popularity of these films will be on the wan over the next few years? I know if they pump out good character driven films with good plots it will bode well for the genre but I mean this trend has to end sometime right? ANy ideas when..I think it will peak after the Avengers movie..too bad for DC because they are really blowing it with the stable of characters they have..

  5. wane I meant

  6. Sorry about that Vic I was drunk last night. No excuses still shouldn’t of acted like that, but yea I got pretty messed up last night and some friends of mine were talking about 9/11 made me think of 790′s insulting comments toward it and I got on here and blasted him a bit. I do apologize for that. If it makes you feel any better I’m paying the price for it as we speak.

Also 790 please explain what me being in security has to do with it?

Anyway I skimmed the comments and noticed a reference toward Fanboys.. I enjoyed the movie, but it could of been better. Especially with how hyped I had been for it. I wanted to see it so bad and finally was able to find it like 3 months ago and must say while it was enjoyable to a point it was a let down…. I guess it’s kind of similar to the story of the movie it’s self…..”What if it sucks?”

  7. @ jago

“Heroes for Hire” was the name of the series and it featured Power Man and Iron Fist in the 70′s and 80′s. Cage and Fist owned a buisness that specialized in detective work and protection services.

It has been reincarnated several times since in 1996 and 2006.

The 1996 version actually used to include Deadpool in missions!!

    Cheers

  8. Fanboys was a little too crass to suit me. There were some funny moments throughout, but overall, I think my expectations were way too high based on the amount of press and hype it received. I suppose it depends on what your preferred brand of comedy is …

  9. I’m not a big fan of Crass, but if there is some intelligence behind it the crass won’t bother me. The problem that I found with fanboys wasn’t the crassness, but the fact that a lot of the jokes just sort of fell flat. I did enjoy it I just thought that amongst us nerd types it was a bit over hyped.

To be fair to the film though I’m not that huge of a Wars fan and was more in to Trek so I was annoyed by how much I was being made fun of lol. I thought Rogan was funny in the movie though especially as the pimp with the Jar Jar tatoo “This guys gonna be the sh*t.”

  10. @greenknight
Thanks… But hey in they’re missions did they ever take on missions from other marvel characters that may have had some sort of relation to the avengers…? Just thinkin of a way they can tie in more characters to the avengers…lol. Its kinda cool though to see that extra scene on how they do it… Like samuel l jackson in iron man and rdj in hulk and/or that supposed seen where we see a frozen captain america in hulk as well.

  11. They kind of actually became kind of a revitalized Defenders after it was thought the AVengers and Fantastic Four were dead..

  12. @vic
Is it true that angels and demons is the worldwide leader in the box office? Sold more tickets than star trek?

  13. And it came out a week after star trek.

  14. @ the voice of reason:

here’s a link to answer that question..

    http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?view2=worldwide&yr=2009&p=.htm

    Cheers

  15. Brother Voodoo would be an interesting movie if they could get a good script, but it would probably end up like the first spawn movie and… sucking…

  16. A new *sort of* poster here.

Just wanted to say hello…Love lurking and reading. Might dive in soon…but the latest film I saw was “Wolverine Origins” which I thoroughly enjoyed. :)

  17. @ The Voice of Reason

Yes, Angles & Demons stands at 415 million (worldwide) I think, then Monster vs Aliens and then Wolverine with 350-360 more or less.
So has anybody seen the trailer for The Time Traveler’s Wife (or you don’t care about it?). It seems for me that it will be a good movie, it caught my attention a few weeks ago.

  18. @Gary my point wasn’t about heath care. ;-)

@Daniel “security guard” is an inside LEXX reference. Stephen the Git can validate that. Its something that 790 says all the time because the captain of the Lexx is a fugitive security guard. Lol,,,

Btw, I’m not trying to challenge your belief system I’m just putting out some info on what ABC Tv network is going to do. They are controlled by Disney. This also sheads some relevance to my nutjob stance on 3D films. Disney is also behind that “bigtime”. I think I tried to keep my point concise. If you don’t understand the significance of what ABC is doing you should read up on pre ww2 German history

I realise that most people want to talk about Transformers, Star Trek. That’s cool, but SR also has a mature readership that I think can relate to what I’m talking about. If anything I’m just putting my opinion up because its not getting the news time it deserves. And there is a thin but legit connection to tv.

And I don’t know if your keeping up with things Daniel, but obama hates the 9/11 truth movement. He’s even publically said that it should never be questioned. That goes against the constitution and what this country was bult on. Btw.

Ok, sorry Vic political rant over.

Oh yeah I almost forgot” FANBOYS” still is my favorite comedy of the year. :-)

  19. The 9/11 truth movement? Are they hiding behind the grassy knoll? Beside Elvis? Next to the creators of the moon landing hoax?

I’m an Aussie. I find all these conspiracy theories laughable. I think sometimes Americans, God love them, believe their own publicity too much!

I loved ‘Bowling for Columbine’ it was refreshing to see some ‘mockumentary’ satire in America for once, although I don’t think too many Americans ‘get’ that it was satire!

We Aussies and Brits have been making fun of our political institutions for years. It helps keep them accountable without dividing the country!

Did you ever see ‘Yes Minister’? Or ‘Little Britain’? ‘The Office’ was also originally British.

You guys need to take life a lot less seriously!

  20. @Daniel F

I agree with you … I found the humor a bit flat too … I kept thinking that The Big Bang Theory does this same vein of humor much more effectively. And, part of it probably was the surprising amount of hard-core Trek-bashing, since I like Trek also. Shatner’s strange cameo helped make up for it a little bit, but not much.

    @790

Well, you’ve certainly made me curious. Will have to look into that ABC business and see what’s up exactly.

  21. @gottarhyme

Based on your recent comments I think you’re going to fit in here just fine. :-)

    Welcome to the site!

    Vic

  22. Why thank you, Vic. I have really enjoyed discovering the site. I adore film!

  23. So, anyone else read the news that Tony Gilroy will be writing the new Red Dawn remake?? Hm, so they have the 2nd unit director of Lions for Lambs to direct it and the writer of Michael Clayton to write it… Yah, they are definitely going to change the story. I’m going to buy the original Red Dawn on Blu Ray and pretend nothing else is being made… lol

  24. gottarhyme Hated bowling for columbine while it was a satire he did have an agenda and I really don’t like Moores actual stance on guns. With that said

I F-ing love Little Brittan. That show was so damn funny. The Prime Minister skits were some of my faves though. I use to have a shirt that said “Yea but no but yea”

790 Actually the funny thing is I agree with you about all the ABC stuff. That’s why I was shocked to see you saying it. I won’t talk about politics much with you, because your stance on 9/11 truly breaks my heart I lost friends that day and to see people use it the way that the so called truth movements do just kills me inside.

It’s kind of said to see the worldwide box office being so awful I mean Angels and Demons, and Wolverine beating out Star Trek?

  25. I don’t like Michael Moore’s stance on anything, based on his films.

    Vic

  26. Well Daniel I brought up the truth movement as in making a point to counter your “I must agree with obama” comment. I don’t belong to any movements. Btw.

I’d love to get into the inconsistancies of the official version of events on that day but that’s not going to happen here…

  27. @ Ken J

The Red Dawn remake ranks pretty high on my pointless-o-meter … while the general idea of a military invasion of America might be something worth revisiting once in awhile, Red Dawn is such a period piece, and wasn’t really lacking anything, that it seems like a waste. They should just start over from scratch.

Off the top of my head, the only remake / reboot I can think of that I could get behind 100% that hasn’t been announced already would be Airwolf. It was and is a great idea that would , but suffered on the SFX and dialogue fronts …. I’d love to see it done right.

  28. Vic I’m with you on that the man has made some terrible ‘documentary’s’.

A red dawn remake is so stupid. It just goes back to what we were saying in another topic. Things like this should be left alone.

  29. Sicko, was a informative documentary a depressing one but informative.
