Here’s our weekly post where you can talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.
Once again, not to hijack the discussion - but I’m debating adding a couple of regular features:
One would be titled “SR Picks” - where we highlight older films that you may not have heard of, or maybe you have but never bothered with, that we think are worth checking out. We did one of these with Bruce’s recommendation of Dog Soldiers and it seemed to go over pretty well. The idea is to make it an ongoing feature, although I can’t commit to a rock solid schedule.

The other would be a “Cool Stuff” or “Cool Gear” or some other witty title for a feature that would highlight collectibles and the like that would be of interest to Sci-Fi, superhero and action movie fans. My pal Peter over at /Film has been doing it for a while, and I’ve been meaning to do something like it as well.
And if there’s any coverage you find lacking, let us know where you’d like to see us focus our efforts.
Let us know what you think, but don’t let me hog the conversation.

I’ve got a couple of things. First, it was AWESOME to see the Batman trailer on the big screen when I saw Hancock tonight. I got goosebumps from it. I really hope that this movie is as good as the trailers make it out to be, or there will be ALOT of disappointed fans. I have to say that Christian Bale makes me forget about the travesty of George Clooney’s Batman.
Also, did anyone check out the new show on SciFi this past Friday, Joan of Arcadia? I thought it was interesting and could be a cool new show to watch the rest of the summer.
The season premiere of Stargate: Atlantis was nothing spectacular, but it was enjoyable. I’m going to miss Amanda Tapping as Colonel Carter on the series, though.
I don’t think I am the only one who hopes that David Tennant decides to play Dr. Who for MANY more seasons. He has BECOME Dr. Who!
Andy:
Joan of Arcadia is a good show, and it is an older show they picked up. When it first ran, it got dumped via the pickle poor ratings system that dumps on all good shows.
Stargate Atlantis, though I like it, lacked cohesiveness in the storyline. The holes in the story dinged it enough to just be ‘OK’ in my book. If it were a new show I wasn’t invested in, I’d look to other venues for my entertainment.
Ya know, I really enjoyed the SG-Atlantis season premiere. I think the reason (more than the actual plot) is the fact that I believe that the series has FINALLY picked up the baton from SG-1. It’s got the feel, the chemistry and the actors have grown into their roles.
Sheppard no longer looks like a little kid to me - much more rugged and believable as the team leader. Now that the splinter-in-my-eye character Dr. Weir is gone I can really enjoy the show.
And I won’t miss Amanda Tapping, she was little more than a ratings gimmick on the series last season.
