Here’s our weekly post where you can talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.
Once again, not to hijack the discussion - but I’m debating adding a couple of regular features:
One would be titled “SR Picks” - where we highlight older films that you may not have heard of, or maybe you have but never bothered with, that we think are worth checking out. We did one of these with Bruce’s recommendation of Dog Soldiers and it seemed to go over pretty well. The idea is to make it an ongoing feature, although I can’t commit to a rock solid schedule.

The other would be a “Cool Stuff” or “Cool Gear” or some other witty title for a feature that would highlight collectibles and the like that would be of interest to Sci-Fi, superhero and action movie fans. My pal Peter over at /Film has been doing it for a while, and I’ve been meaning to do something like it as well.
And if there’s any coverage you find lacking, let us know where you’d like to see us focus our efforts.
Let us know what you think, but don’t let me hog the conversation. ![]()

Old movies…Like Krull…Does anyone remember a movie with Lee Horsley (MAtt Huston TV show 1982-1985) called The Sword and the Sorcerer.I loved that movie especially the crucifiction scene where he pulls himself off the cross!!!.I hear that they are making a sequel called Tales Of an Ancient Empire…ANy info on that guys?
Cheers
Wow. Just had a look for that movie, and not seen it. An old fantasy movie I haven’t seen. I am ashamed of myself.
Love Krull. The Slayers weapons are among my all time favourites from movies.
i think i read somewhere recently that a sequel to sword and the sorcerer with the same director is on the way.
I dont know anything about casting though.
Life after TDK. Its weird what’s next?
X-Files, sheesh dosnt hold up to what TDK throws at you. Space Chimps, naw that’s lame.
After the entire world see’s TDK what the hell is next?
Talk about an voidey numbness. Oh well I guess I’ll have to watch TDK again and again. Could be worse.
yo 790,
There’s tropic thunder, and maybe Star wars although I think the new star wars does not look good.
More imporantly, Favreau locked in with Marvel for Iron Man 2. Here’s the scoop:

Yeah thanks Rob I forgot about Tropic Thunder.
I swear that was a drink Higgins used to order in Magnum PI.
Hey it also looks like the Actors won’t strike. Yeah!!
Hollywood is saved.

OFF TOPIC: (Ok, so we didn’t really have a topic under open discussion, but it sounded right to say!)
Burn Notice Starts season two tonight!
Tricia Helfer cast as the role of Carla.
Yes, that’s No 6 from Battlestar Galactica.
Yumm.
Bruce,
I’m with ya, I love Burn Notice. It i a lot of fun. I, however, missed last nights ep. (Insert angry emoticon here)

Enjoy.
I’m not sure if it’s the new seasons’ episode or end of last season, but it’s got “Carla” in it, so it’s close to relavent…. yea yea, I’ve missed a few.
It’s episode 201: prob season 2!
Thanks, Bruce. I’ll check it out tonight!
No problem INK, we here at ScreenRant, are here to help!
Watchmen anybody?
quis custodiet ipsos custodes
that was the season premiere of Burn Notice,
And it was VERY GOOD!
I’ve got a couple of things. First, it was AWESOME to see the Batman trailer on the big screen when I saw Hancock tonight. I got goosebumps from it. I really hope that this movie is as good as the trailers make it out to be, or there will be ALOT of disappointed fans. I have to say that Christian Bale makes me forget about the travesty of George Clooney’s Batman.
Also, did anyone check out the new show on SciFi this past Friday, Joan of Arcadia? I thought it was interesting and could be a cool new show to watch the rest of the summer.
The season premiere of Stargate: Atlantis was nothing spectacular, but it was enjoyable. I’m going to miss Amanda Tapping as Colonel Carter on the series, though.
I don’t think I am the only one who hopes that David Tennant decides to play Dr. Who for MANY more seasons. He has BECOME Dr. Who!
Andy:
Joan of Arcadia is a good show, and it is an older show they picked up. When it first ran, it got dumped via the pickle poor ratings system that dumps on all good shows.
Stargate Atlantis, though I like it, lacked cohesiveness in the storyline. The holes in the story dinged it enough to just be ‘OK’ in my book. If it were a new show I wasn’t invested in, I’d look to other venues for my entertainment.
Sheppard no longer looks like a little kid to me - much more rugged and believable as the team leader. Now that the splinter-in-my-eye character Dr. Weir is gone I can really enjoy the show.
And I won’t miss Amanda Tapping, she was little more than a ratings gimmick on the series last season.
