So how about them Twilight fans?! Crazy people kicked me out of my seat at Comic-Con! I really don’t know why they’re so intense and why Twilight is so amazing (it looks frickin’ god awful), but they’re taking the cons by storm! Please let this movie flop!

So onto my discussion… What do you think is going to be the biggest opening in December? Day the Earth Stood Still? Twilight (please no!!!!)? The Spirit? Benjamin Button? Jim Carrey’s Yes Man? Revolutionary Road? Adam Sandler’s Bedtime Stories?

How will this December shape up??

It’s a toss up between TDESS and Twilight, but I’m betting that Twilight will have a pretty monstrous opening.

Looks like it has a voracious fanbase that rivals Harry Potter…

Twilight has a mostly female fanbase.

Something to consider.

Fracken Vampire films. I hate them.

And females have boyfriends/husbands. Which equals $

Just seen The Dark Knight and have to be honest…it’s over-rated and has all the flaws of other recent superhero adaptions but for some strange reason is getting away with it.It has many good momments i admit but it is far too long, too many characters & too many villians.Spider-man 3 got ripped apart for doing the same yet as I watched Batman I was thinking…Spider-Man 3 is a far better movie!!
Again hype has worked here and elevated this film to a hight it does not deserve. The Two-Face character was so like the New Goblin in S-M-3 involvment and got lost.
Batman Begins was a great movie,TDK bored me.
If people want to see the best action hero movie that took the character into gritty-reality then go get a copy of Robo-Cop.Nothing has came close to doing what that movie done with a great cast, great director and not such a massive budget!!!

@Braveheart

Hype does not influence my movie reviews. As a matter of fact pre-release hype often causes me to UNDER-rate a movie. There’s no denying TDK was an excellent film, although I agree it did have some flaws and should have been shorter.

But to say it’s worse than Spider-Man 3? Uh, I don’t think so.

I wouldn’t say that SM3 failed because of too many villians; I would say it failed because it focused too much on Peter Parker’s relationship with Mary Jane Watson. They could have cut about 30 minutes of Mary Jane and the film would have been superb.

As for TDK, I have to disagree with you. For me, the film worked mainly because of Ledger; the man nailed the role. They could have shortened it by about 30 minutes but I think it deserves all the accolades.

For me, SM3 lost me when we had the dark but cool Parker strutting his stuff. It was just laughable. Maguire is too suited for the geeky Parker to ever do anything cool.
Cut that chunk out and the film is almost watchable. Almost.

Twilight…does it have the fan base similar to Sex and the City? If so it may do those type of numbers…I don’t know a self-respecting guy friend of mine that would be willing to see that movie..Teenage girls have to be some of the most difficult people to figure out..put a romance spin on anything and they will eat it up like chocolate…What’s next… give the Morlocks a really handsome , charismatic leader(although he would be stinky because they live in the sewers but I guess they could market a new perfume around that) and put a romantic spin on their story and make it into a movie for the teen girls…Were we ever that gullable? Yeah we probably were…

The Parker strut ala Saturday Night Fever was so frickin cornball that it actually ruined the movie for me and MJ as a singer…sheeesh!! MAke her a soap star/supermodel like in the comics…I thought if those things were removed then SP3 would have been an awesome flick!!

While I’m thinking about it, if there are any hot upcoming movies that are missing from the list on the right that we’ve covered here, please let me know so I can add them.

Thanks,

Vic

I think the whole sequel/remake thing has got way out of hand. Lets take 6 pieces of sludge and rumor them around the net for a year as being scheduled to be remade. Maybe we can shame the studios into turning off the money spigot for these things.

We’ll never do it, but it’s how I feel.

Vic,what about Righteous Kill being added to the list? The trailer didn’t wow me,(it didn’t stink either),but it stars Pacino and Deniro, enough said.

I don’t know Tom, I watched the Righteous Kill trailer and it was beyond any hope of originaltiy for these two actors.

Talk about typecasting and doing it for a paycheck.

(IMO)”Heat”, was the last great horrah for these two guys.
I’ve had enough with Pacino and Deniro, I wish Pacino would just do comedies at this point and Deniro should concentrate on producing.

Its over guys,, its sooo over…….so tired, so tired.

Hey Vic, I’d love some new info on Babylon AD, it looks pretty good if your a Vin Diesel fan.
Almost looks like a prequel to Pitch Black.

BRAVEHEART said,

Spider-Man 3 did have flaws but it was still a lot of fun.I just don’t like Bale as Batman…the voice is just silly for a start and I suppose I have never liked the Joker anyway, again, just silly.Keaton is still my fave Batman.
Also Daredevil was a great action/dark movie and never got the critics favour, mabey if Colin Farrell had past away before it came out people would have been saying what an amamzing perfomance he put in as Bullseye and that ha should be given an Oscar!!!!

I went and saw the new X-Files film tonight and was totally underwhelmed. I felt like I was watching an episode of the show that was stretched out to 90 minutes. It would have made a good straight to DVD film or 2 hour movie-of-the-week on FOX. Don’t get me wrong, it was HORRIBLE, but it wasn’t great, either. Maybe a 3 out of 5, although I think I am being generous. The movie seemed forced in some areas and there didn’t seem to be the old chemistry from the show and the lst movie.

790, Babylon A.D.’s trailer did look pretty cool, though.

Ah… I have to make some time to review Tropic Thunder. Writing reviews is a lot harder than just writing up the latest movie news so I have to twist my own arm to get those done sometimes.

I think SM3 would have been better without Venom .
I am thinking about skipping The Mummy altogether and Seeing Tropic Thunder next week .
This Week I am going to see Swing Vote.
After X-Files I need to try out lighter fare.

Vic about additions, a lot of people had positive things to say in the “Transporter 3″ article why not add it and remove “The Happening?”

Yes, please! Anything that can add to me forgetting I paid to see that fiasco would be much appreciated. Plus, I like the Transporter franchise a lot.

LOL, good call on dumping The Happening. And Gary, Tropic Thunder and Mummy 3 are VERY different movies. :-)

Tropic was rude and crass but I loved it.

Ok, I’ve dropped some movies that have passed and added a few new categories.

Thanks for the feedback!

I just wanna say, if a Haunted Chinese Warrior Army can’t kill Brendon Frasier how can I really believe in Mummy 3?

That’s it… Call me a conspiracy nut.

Gary said,

790,
its not a conspiracy,
Its a temporal causality loop!
It just keeps repeating over and over .
Or maybe its just continually bad writing.
I get those 2 mixed up all the time!

790 said,

Right on Gary!!!!!
Lol,
I love Brendon Frasier, he’s a really nice guy, but when you take a step back, and look at Mummy 3, its got more Crystal Skulls than Indy 4.

Well Anime fans looks like the American film industry is going to raid the East again, and bring another favorite to the live action scene “Cowboy Bebop!” :)

You’ll never guess who their calling on to play the iconic Asian ex-organized crime Cowboy, Spike Spiegel?? Just guess..

Help! Somebody make some bumper stickers I’m going to pass them out on the street corner.

Just started watching this dvd and its pretty good.
Reminds me of a Spinal Tap for comic book fans. So far very funny writing.
Marks character is on his way to Comic Con. Lol
