It’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post.
As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice.
Around the web:

Obviously I meant “Seasons”.
Wow I missed a lot.
I think Avatar sounds like a really dumb movie. The plot doesn’t sound remotely interesting and borderline stupid. From what I have seen and heard I don’t think the tech will be anything mind blowing or revolutionary just a little better than whats been done, but not on some grand scale.
As for Fring, Xfiles and all that I havn’t liked one single JJ Abrams show yet. The only thing I liked from him was Star Trek. His TV shows have just been crap for me. Fringe is the best and I don’t even like it I just like the actors involved and they bring it up above the rest. I would like to punch everyone involved with lost.
What HAVE you seen of the movie? Just curious.
I can’t believe District 9 is beating Tron 2 in the poll… lol
I havent voted in the poll But I am really looking forward to the Tron film.
To the person who asked about Slumdog: I’ve seen it but never wrote up a review. I thought it was very powerful, excellently done and difficult to sit through because the abuses they portrayed in India do happen every day.
Vic
most realistic sports movies?
i never really saw “North Dallas 40,” but for me it was “Any Given Sunday.”
any thoughts?
i should justify that by saying, not the storyline, but the on-field action scenes. very realistic with the blur images, noise off action and rumble cams
If you go to a register site, drop me a note quickly so I can register my username. There’s quite a few imposter Mandarr’s out there on the internets. I’ve been using this name since the BBS days of old. Besides it’s my name, sort of.
Oh yeah, and I don’t like Twitter either. Someone already stole my username there too. I’ll wait for the full report posted here.
well for realism in sports movies, the best I can suggest would be Bull Durham and All The Right Moves. Because sports, strangely enough, are just like real life, full of politics, bad guys, and strange happenings
@Mandarr
Have you considered that maybe other people thought of the same name and isn’t specifically trying to copy YOU? No offense, but I don’t think you’re famous enough to have imposters…
I’m sure there are other people with the first name Ken and the last name beginning with J that would use Ken J as their username also, doesn’t mean they are copying me or is an imposter, lol.
Lol I have two different user names that I use and I have seen both in use some where else. I have a decently sized ego, but it’s never been so big that I thought those people were trying to copy me lol I just assumed they had a similar name or interest.
@ Ken
No I know that, I was kidding heh. But I do want to reserve my name before the others find out about this website.
Realistic sports movies? If you want bone crunching Hockey and football action, “Youngblood” and “Invincible”. And the futuristic sport in Jugging in “The Blood of Heroes” with Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen. That was freakin’ deadly!
bull durham was really good, made me wish i had kept playing baseball.
Brian Song is a good sports film also a great guy cry movie. Though I’ll admit I prefer the remake with the doctor from Firefly over the original.
Is there anybody out there that are dissappointed by the Comic-COn this year other than thos eof you fortunate enough to attend?…the large crowd was enough to keep me away…
GK333,,,I’ve never seen a convention so densely packed like I did at CC on Sunday. (Saturday must have been hell!) The event has totally outgrown the facility (IMO). Also the promoters of CC are throwing away millions! in lost food revenue and event t-shirts. (Fools!)
The staff were all very professional and I had no problems getting my credential. However one thing I didn’t like was the way the “event staff” wouldn’t let people into the panel rooms from the side doors after the breaks. Having to walk all the way around the building when you could quickly walk in the side doors sucked bigtime!.
It totally sucked out what little intimacy there was around the booth.
One thing I’ll never forget,,, on the main floor Leonard Nimoy and Brent Spiner were autographing photos (20 bucks) and there were 3 event staffers literally shouting, “One picture!, don’t stop!, Keep walking!”
If you slowed down to even look, they would yell that in your face. Really classy,,,
I wanted to stick around and check out the Torchwood panel but I was starving and it would have all been spoilers to me as I’m only in the middle of season one. Within 4 hours I was outta there. The crowds and lack of food were the 2 real problems. I also had a fixed time window to catch a train, and by 5pm I was already back in LA eating “lunch-dinner” at Phillipes !!!
One cool thing about catching the 3pm train was that I met J. Michael Straczynski. He was standing in line for the train and in the middle of all these comic geekoids nobody recognized him.
Do you guys remember that article back in the day about Marvel coming out with anime versions of their characters? I just saw the Iron Man and Wolverine, and they look TERRIBLE. So cheesy and all of the typical anime crap that you’ve seen already if you’ve seen any action anime shows or movies… Especially the Wolverine one, that one is so completely retarded…
@Mandarr
Oh ok, haha. good one because we all fell for it, or at least Daniel and I did, haha. I think you’ll have to pay to reserve names.
Make the check payable to Ken… just kidding, lol.
I saw them on another site and I thought the Iron Man teaser was pretty cool.
To me it was all flash…
Yeah 790 it’s definitely a case of cottage industry trying to be big buisness and failing miserably…I just haven’t been impressed by much that came out of it and to be fair I don’t watch TV so none of the TV stuff mattered to me..
Twilight news…no thanks!!!
DIsappointed by Hulk/Ed Norton most likely being incognito for an Avengers movie…I think even if ol green skin makes an appearance we can safely rule out Norton unless he and Marvel studios kiss and make nice..
20 bucks for a Nimoy/Spiner signature..how can they look people in the eye and do that…I wouldn’t pay 20 bucks for anybody’s signature…scratch that…my three year old likes printing his name with mine on paper so I’d pay 20 for that but I don’t have to..
Thanks 790!!
Is there anyone else that thinks that Nicholson is overrated as The Joker? and no I’m not comparing to Ledger’s version.
I honestly don’t remember it, haven’t seen the old Batman movies in YEARS.
OMG, even that Alice in Wonderland is beating TRON 2 in the polls, (if you’ve seen Princess Bride) INCONCEIVABLE!
What next, Twilight???? geez…
“What next, Twilight???? geez”
…and then hell will have frozen over.
I’m going to the TRON fansites and telling them to come here to vote for TRON 2 to make sure it’s not too close to Twilight, lol.
Hey, it might bring more viewers to Screen Rant, good for the advertising dollars for Vic! win-win
i was never the biggest nicholson joker fan to be quite honest
