  1. @anthony

The Unit was a great show for the FIRST SEASON. The second season was OK, then it was downhill from there. And I disagree with the wives, I liked Bob Brown’s wife Kim the most in terms of looks. :-) But in terms of personality… let’s just say I wish they kept them ALL out of the picture and just focused on the unit and their missions…

The whole crazy conspiracy BS killed the show in my opinion, made it too contrived and ridiculous…

    • yeah, David Mamet, lost a step or 2 after the first season for sure

  2. The unit is on my list of shows I’ll be watching very very soon currently I’m starting Hung which is surprising pretty good. I like it so far Tom Jane is a great actor.

  3. Old man I do believe you’ve been using a few to many drugs with Philip K lol jk.

    • Really it’s a serious question Daniel. Try to imagine it. Did you ever see the documentary series “Connections?”

Ha, :) I don’t do drugs I’m not prescribed. It messes with the machinery…

  4. I’m not 100% sure I understood the question but I’ll give a shot. I believe you asking how much I can suspend my disbelief or how much I can accept as reality? If not correct.

    I’ll admit I have a limit.

When it comes to books or film I’ll accept anything if it makes it clear it’s in a 100% Fantasy world like say Lord of the Rings. How ever if it’s trying to push it’s self off as reality or at least being in our world I have limits. Especially when it comes to science. Magik isn’t real so be using you instantly mark your world as fantasy, but science is real and if your using science your science has to make sense it has to be belieable. Time travel or deminsion surfing from mayo? No I can’t accept that. I can accept Time Travel if it’s explained and half ads makes sense.

I’m not sure if that’s what your looking for.

  5. Watched it but fail to see the relevance.

By the way the effects are laughable very lame and useless. They should of let the information speak for it’s self rather than add special effects to a documentary. The first minute especially near the end of the first minute when his voice viberates and he turns to ash. Very pointless to add.

  6. Well I hope your criticism on the production values in no way implies
criticism of the science. They were only trying to intimate visually
what he was narrating that reality is really like.
The point is that sometimes it takes a radical jump in imagination in
order to visualize or solve some problems. For the scientists at that
fateful conference the language of mathematics was universally held as
the only language that you could effectively use to describe the quantum
world. Feynman showed them a different way and they Hated it! Didn’t
mean it was wrong, it became a key component in saving QED theory. If the
physics establishment would have persistently ignored the fact that the
Feynman method and equations gave very accurate results, who knows how
long and on what path atomic physics would have taken from there.

Now with this knowledge we can look at the similar problem of Bob Arcter
‘Keanu’ in the movie. He’s hunting himself down on orders but how can he
do that? The problem is substance D has messed up his brain and now he
can’t integrate the two personalities. The user/dealer and the law
enforcement agent. On top of that what’s going on behind his back with
the establishment? Where’s the oversight at the New Path rehab. center?
Perhaps Dick is making a subtle jab at the privatization of something
that he feels should be under government control? This stuff isn’t new of course, but it’s the way that Dick compounds the problems as if he wants you to experience the confusion, irritation, the despair, the madness. After your into the story the deep irony, and futility of the whole thing. In fact if we see through a mirror darkly, we should also realize that “everything is vanity and a chase after the wind.”

  7. I’m only talking about the use of effects it was cheesy and the science and facts should be left to speak for them selves. Nothing against the science just the documentary it’s self.

I’m sorry I get that you loved the film but for me Darkly just wasn’t good. I’m also sorry but I really found the plot to be ridiculous. I know you liked and that’s fine but the concept was for me poorly conceived. I’m not saying that there wasn’t a thought with in the film or that it didn’t have a point with in it just that the plot they used to cloak the real story with was poorly constructed and conceived. It’s a film with substance (lots of substance d) but every thing around the point of the story was awful for me.

Especially acting from the lead he is awful.

  8. Loved it? Nah, don’t even own it. I don’t like Keanu’s acting either.

Well anyway I can see your pretty set about it, that’s fine. You likes what you like. Just thought I’d put a little effort in trying to show another aspect of a work you don’t think is very good. Anyway others might want to see it, or not. So perhaps our discussion will help them decide.
