Here’s our weekly post where you can talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.
Thanks to “790″ for the last minute reminder to put up this week’s post. ![]()
I’ve been so out of whack that I forgot that Hancock opens TODAY, and I haven’t written my review yet… yeesh. I’ll get it posted by Friday.
As usual, if you’re so inclined I always look for feedback about the site, whether good or bad – as long as it’s honest and constructive. Things have settled down and we’ve found our groove, but I’m always on the lookout for features to add that’ll make you want to stick around and poke around the site more.
Seems like a lot of the conversation is reaching a fever pitch about The Dark Knight opening in a couple of weeks.
Have fun and play nice. ![]()

Here’s a question to put to the community – should I see both Hellboy AND The Dark Knight, or just The Dark Knight? Believe it or not, it can be an either/or proposition with me saving for a wedding and movie tickets $9.50 apiece. Help me decide!
TDK talk is at a fever pitch – I can’t believe how much comment is already
out there for a movie that doesn’t even open for more than 2 weeks. Here’s the best site for previews – some exclusive clips (in amazing HD) behind-the-scenes and making-of stuff, and downloadable buddy icons, wallpapers, etc.

go see hellboy it was awesome and also dark knight where the reviews were considering it the godfather 2 of all comic book movies
I just watched Hellboy again and it had style and held my interest even though I’d never even heard of him. The others on the team are three dimensional. The new one looks to be even more creative.
I have very little energy around seeing The Joker Movie.
By the way, Vic, theatres in the Chicago suburbs played Hancock last night, starting at 7pm. That’s what they did with Iron Man, too–not just midnight shows, but evening shows before the official opening day.
Vic, please do something about the ads, they are insane.
Everytime the site is loading, I go to scroll down and it jumps me to the top of the page again while reading something, and im trying to click away then the add jumps out where im clicking and starts loading, lol.
I don’t know why it keeps jumping to the top, whether the ads are doing that, or the order of the page elements loading.
Also for leaving comments, can the default be set to not notify me of comments, and then if we want that we can click. For those who check the site regularly (which is most I think) we don’t need notifications for each thread by default.
for Liz, if you can only pick one, it has to be the Dark Knight, which is toobad because Hellboy deserves its credit too.
Liz, go see both, just go to a daytime matinee instead of the evening show and you can see both for a little over the price of one evening showing ticket.
Ok, honest feedback here, is anyone else having issues with the ads? Annoying the heck out of you? Driving you nuts? Let me know.
Rob, the subscription setting is set up exactly like it was on the old site, which is checked by default.
Vic
Vic , the ads dont seem any different from any other site,
I barely notice them.
Liz,
What Vic said!
I hear ya, Rob. I’m not particularly fond of the ads either, even if it is like every other site.
Hate it when that hapens. Almost reminds me of this. (you’ll hate me for that, lol)
Still, this place is awesome, and it’ll take more than a couple annoying ads to get me to stop reading here.
Vic, lookin’ forward to that Hancock review.
Vic,
I agree on the ads being a pain. It was the first thing I noticed about the new site. The fact that I keep getting forced back up to the top of the page and that the top ad always has to be closed before I can continue reading down is very annoying…
Other than that, the new site is much improved..
Well it’s always been a personal policy for me that I don’t want to run ads that annoy visitors. That’s why I got rid of popunders and I don’t run audio ads.
I didn’t even know there was a problem with these new ads because I use Firefox instead of IE and the ads do not expand in that browser.
So Matt, the expand on their own for you as well? They’re not supposed to expand unless you mouse over them.
Vic
I set my pop up blocker to max and I don’t get driven to the top… :/
Liz don’t know what ticket prices are like in your area, $11.50 here prime time
, but keep in mind 28 minutes of “The Dark Knight” is in IMAX native format. It’s a few extra dollars to see that way, but you can’t see “Hellboy” that way. Why not get a unique experience in so far as you have a choice you won’t see at home or a few months down the road in a discount house.
As of last night, no pun intended, the local IMAX wasn’t selling advanced tickets to DN, but don’t count on that to last long, with the release of “Batman Gotham Knight” july 8
the ad build up is peaking…
I think the ads are a pain in the behind Vic…AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
Yeah, I get the ads jumping up at me.
I have learned to just sit and wait until everything is done, but if you’re considering remmoving them then cool.
Like everything else, though, including the lists at the bottom – latest comments and such. Not sure if those are new or if I’m only just noticing them.
Yeah, the ads just pop open everytime I load a new page no matter where the cursor is…
Ok, the intent of the ads was for them to expand only when the mouse cursor went over them – if they’re expanding on their own that was not the intent.
I’ve contacted the ad network about either fixing the problem or I’ll discontinue running the ads.
Vic
Hey guys, I’ve opened up the spacing and the font size a bit on posts. Does that make it a bit easier to read?
Thanks,
Vic
Reading wise it all looks good to me.
Also, having read your post when notified by email (which I like as makes threads easier to follow) I came on and made sure my cursor was well to the side. The ad flared up on every page, so it certainly isn’t behaving as you want it.
Thanks for the support fellow screenranters, I’m glad it wasn’t just me and my computers, lol.
More importantly, I need a ‘post cool news button’, lol
First teaser for the Mutant Chronicles

Looks kinda cool. Stylistically, its a cross between Sin City and Sky captain and the world of tomorrow (which i absolutely hated). I love Tommy Jane, so im in no matter.
Also, Resident Evil 4 being planned which is obvious as its cheap as heck to make and always turns a profit, even if they are terrible.

Just fyi, I’m predicting 15 mil for Space Chimps opening weekend, July 18th.
I can’t believe Space Chimps isn’t getting any buzz.
(Space+monkeys=awesome!)
Of course I’m kidding.
Space Chimps will break 50 mil.and dominate the summer, come on TDK dosnt stand a chance! Nobody cares about some Batman movie.
Kel, I don’t want to kill you, that was crazyeffingannoying. I think someone mentioned that site off the cuff a few months ago and I tried to see what the hubbub was all about–it didn’t work for me. NOW I know! And NOW I can share that with all my “friends.” Hee hee.
Vic, I have no problem with the ads now. A few months back there was a horror movie where the sound kept coming up unexpectedly…but we corresponded and you fixed it.
I like how if I’m reading posts & navigate to a trailer or something, when I hit the Back Button on my browser, I’m back at the spot on the page where I was reading–NOT at the top of the page. Very annoying when pages are not set like that.
I wrote this the other night for a friend of mine, and figured some of the readers here might find it helpfull.
((I cleaned it up a little. ))
This is 790’s guide to Star Trek Enterprise.
very low spoilers, but there are some. Hope you enjoy it.

These are the best episodes to WATCH.
SEASON 1.
The Andorian Incident. (Doh, Andorians, good casting “Jeff Combs” from DS9″)
Cold Front. (Temporal Cold war begins)
Shuttle Pod 1. (good writing & story.)
Shockwave. Part 1. (Real good time travel romp that factors into the 3rd season conclusion).
SEASON 2. Best to WATCH.
Shockwave. Part 2. (The best part.)
Dead Stop. (borg prequel?)
Canamar. (Entertaining characters and a fast paced prison-ship break.)
Cogenitor. (Aliens with the 3rd gender. Ok. )
Regeneration. (Borg episode, a must see! Best epsode so far of the show.)
The Expanse. (The beginning of season 3’s story arc.)
^
Now! , “Reverse Polarity to the Hull Plating” , you’ll know that phrase if you watch the previous episodes. lol.

SEASON 3.
The entire season is a REALLY GOOD story arc season, a new change of pace for the show. These are the episodes to AVOID!
North Star. (Crappy western planet side-mission.)
Hatchery. (Archer becomes a mommy to aliens, it does have story-arc related elements so its not a total waste.)
SEASON 4. (The best season, I will cover every episode.)
Storm Front part 1. (Temporal rollercoaster from season 3’s ending.)
Storm Front part 2. (Temporal rollercoaster part 2)
Home. (Stand alone homecoming episode. From this point on Archer shoots first and asks questions later. Good stuff.)
Borderland. (The origin of Dr. Soong the creator of Data and Lore. One of the stand out 3 parters of the season.)
Cold Station 12. (Link to Kahn and the Eugenics experiments.)
The Augments. (Ledgendary ending.)
The Forge. (This is the best Vulcan origin story in all of Star Trek. Another 3 part masterpiece from Manny Coto.)
Awakening. ( Part 2. Visually stunning.)
Kir’Shara. (Part 3. Didn’t see that coming.)
Daedalus. (The father of teleportation has a dark side.)
Observer Effect. (a Classic Star Trek episode with a twilight zone spin.)
Babel One. (Part 1 of The Romulan Epic 3 parter!)
United. (Part 2, Andorians, Tellarites and Romulans oh my.)
The Aenar. (Part 3, surprise ending.)
Affliction. (The Klingon 2 part Epic that finally explains the forehead ridges.)
Divergence. (Spy Games and Vulcan relationships.)
Bound. (The Orion Slave Girl episode and origin story.)
In A Mirror Darkly. Part 1. ( The best Mirror universe episode in all of Star Trek. An epic 2 parter that bridges the gap between Enterprise and The Original Series. (Imo) the best 2 episodes of the entire show.)
In A Mirror Darkly. Part 2. ( It just continues and its awesome. In some ways I wish Archer had been more like his Mirror image in our universe. Gheesh grow a pair.)
Demons. ( a 2 part epic that should have closed out the season, and led to another, but no. An alien hating group (terrorists) plan to thwart the forming of Starfleet.)
Terra Prime. ( The real ending of Star Trek Enterprise. Its a new begining for Trip and Tpol.)
These are the Voyages…. (a holodeck recreation captures the last mission before the signing of the Federation Charter. Good until the ending, a main character is killed in one of the worst written ways of the show. It really snubs the entire episode, and a lot of fans feel this episode was a sell out to the cast.)
790.
Happy Fourth of July/Independence Day AMerica…I hope you all have a great day!!!!
