It’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post!
As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself. I would suggest however that there are more than enough Transformers discussions going on elsewhere.

i noticed the ads for 12 rounds on the main page, anyone seen it? how is it?
12 Rounds is basically a rehash of Die Hard With a Vengeance.
Well, the Americans from L.A who came to stay with me finally left today.
They left without once offering to pay for any food, or even offering me a lousy bottle of wine in thanks. They dragged me to a dumb movie [TRANSFORMERS), which by the way, they did not pay me back for, after asking me to buy tickets!
And to top it all off, they gave me and my family Swine flu, and our home is quarantined for a week by the Health Department until next Monday!
They are flying out of Sydney airport as I speak, and I hope to God I never hear from, or see them again!
I have never met such selfish people in my life!
Oh well, rant over.
Sort of film related too. I probably hate the movie because of the association with them!
Maybe it’s an idea for discussion. Has anyone have a film they can’t bear to watch because it brings back bad memories or associations? what about good memories?
I really hate Transformers2. There are a lot of reasons, of course. However, the main ones are listed above!!
Why did you have these people staying with you?
Well, since you ask…
About 4 years ago I went to the U.S.A and I met Sonni, who was kind enough to show me around for one day. I told her that if she ever came to Oz, to look me up.
We have kept in touch via email, and last month she tells me she is coming! She didn’t tell me she was bringing a teenage friend as well, until a week before she arrived.
So I figured-ok-its-only-for-a-few-days, she’ll probably book a hotel, check out the harbour, do her thing….
Wrong! She stayed home, on my computer, heated the house to a furnace (it’s winter here)and watched cable.
No matter how many times I politely asked if she might like to see outside, you know, the country she came to see, she never did!
So her final day is here. She & the teenager sponger who ate me out of house and home have left, and they never even said thank you!
Rude much?
I would say they were very rude. Are you going to say any of this to her?
Why would you go to Oz and not see the country itself, fantastic place.
Back on topic, recently rewatched X-Men 2 and I’m still of the opinion it is the best comic/film adaption.
Man, that sounds like a relatives’ visit from hell, only they weren’t even relatives! … XD My sympathies. We Americans are not all like that, I promise.
Bad memory movie is Paul Blart, Mall Cop…I wish i had Kevin James email so i can ask for my money back!
I finally got to see an episode of The Mentalist last night (I wish CBS had a deal with Hulu!) and it was pretty neat!
Please keep the original style of the website going it works great for me… I saw that you were experimenting with other bagrounds and formats and I just want to say that those did not work for me
I watched a nice little sports movie yesterday called “The Final Season.” It was about a small Iowa town called Norway that won 20 state titles before the school was dissolved. Sean Astin, Rachel Leigh Cook and Powers Boothe were in it and I thought it was very well done. Imagine my surprise when it was only 25% at Rotten Tomatoes!! I think that people who have never played baseball should not write movie reviews about such films! If you like sports movies with a feel good ending, then I recommend it.
Oh, and GR, not ALL Americans are such borish, rude, snobbish grubs.
2001: A Space Odyssey was on a couple of nights ago, and I decided to watch it and find out if it was as boring as I thought soo many years ago. It wasn’t all that bad, but it was still kind of boring. And I still have no idea what that ending was about.
@tasouli
If you’re referring to the home page, that’s temporary. Gotta pay the bills around here, ya know?
Vic
@Kahless
Did you know that the novel “2001″ was written FOR the film? I had always thought the film was based on an existing novel – not the case.
Go figure.
Vic
“…those did not work for me”
does anything work for you?
Does anyone here have Direct TV? I saw an ad last night that they’re now broadcasting their High-Def channels in 1080p and I thought that the only true 1080p source was Blu-Ray (or the defunct HD-DVD). Can anyone confirm that this is true, or is it just Direct TV BS?
The Jerk was on t.v last night, What a classic if anyone hasnt
seen it I highly reconmend it
@Vic
No I didn’t. But knowing how 2010 went, I assume that the child at the end of 2001 is Bowman but evolved. Without 2010, I doubt I would have come to that conclusion.
ahhhh starchild…. as I remember, it was reccomended to be trippin to be able to be fully aware of all of 2001’s possibilities. Just think, without it, I doubt we would have had “Heavy Metal” (a guilty pleasure of my own).
as for films that I secretly like but as a representative of the male gender that embarass me due to my generational social programming. That list does contain the following non-cowboy and War movies.
Doctor Zhivago
Fiddler on the Roof
Irma la Douce
and I did cry when Old Yeller died
Old Yeller died? Why did you tell me this?! People, y’all need to start putting warnings in your posts! Next thing you’ll tell me is that Bruce Willis was already dead!
:-)
don’t make me tell you the full meaning of “rosebud” now……
Lol, Gottarhyme, I hope you don’t waste anymore time with those deadbeats.
Who flys to Australia to watch cable and see Trans 2?
I don’t understand why anyone reads rottentomatoes?
Kahless the meaning behind 2001 is an highly evolved alien race uses the probes (obolisk) to motivate mankind out of the dark ages and into space. This journey ends in 2010 when the probe leads mankind to Jupiter where man is then told to explore space but never set foot on Titan, one of Jupiters moons.
A cool sequel would be a trip to Titan.
@790
It was the ending to 2001 that was soo obscure. If I hadn’t seen 2010, I don’t know if I would have realized that Bowman was evolved by the aliens to help mankind. Also, 2010 isn’t suppose to be the end, 3001 is suppose to be the end. In 3001, Poole (the astronaut thought dead in 2001) is alive and some greedy guy is suppose to disregard the alien’s warning and land on Europa. I read that the novel isn’t that great but a movie could be.
Yeah the way I saw the ending was HAL was compromised by the aliens and killed off the crew so that a rescue would be launched leading man toward Jupiter. Bowman stopped HAL and then the Aliens were forced to deal with him.
Instead of remaking films that are classics Hollywood should be making stuff like 3010.
Evolve you bastards! (South Park character voice impersonated)
I’m doing my part today to stop the global takeover of autobots. I’m seeing “Public Enemies.”
Just snuck out of my job monitoring cooling levels at the dynamite factory. Should be ok for a few hours.
@790
I counter you seeing Public Enemies by me seeing both Transformers 2 AND Terminator tonight.
And no … I am not kidding.
Haa! Its on INK,!!!
Its so on!!!!
Helping Terminator is futile btw,,,
How funny will it look if Public Enemies beats Trans?
I think the only movie this year that has a slight chance at beating ROTF is Harry Potter; I would say Avatar but it’s being released late this year.
Those Harry Potter posters look hilarious. There al holding their little magic wands. Comical….
Now I’ll prob have to sit through the lame trailer in a few minutes.
actually believe it or not… but i think the movie that’s going to be really big… because tweens will probably see it more then once…”new moon” that twilight sequel. Say what you want to say about these summer flicks but i’d rather see most of these then bedazzled vampires… i did laugh alot though the first time i saw twilight(just enough to bother the tweens…lol).
