As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. icon smile Open Discussion January 7, 2013

  1. Just a thought…

What if Ben Affleck (Argo) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) are at the Oscars talking about what its like to play a secret agent in the movies. Then Will Smith (Men in Black 3) and Clark Gregg (The Avengers) shows up saying something like they are the real movie secret agents. And then Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby, Pierce Brosman, and Daniel Craig walk on calling them all amateurs. Having all Bonds on stage at the same time would be a nice segway into the Bond 50th anniversary thing they are doing.

    • If I was a Bond fan, I’d say yes. But I also think that since Seth McFarlane is hosting, he should do a Bond sketch.

    • Anyone who calls Coulson an amateur is as good as dead… Just saying.

  2. Has anyone seen transformers prime? I saw about three episodes so far and already I can say that the show is what the movies should have been.

    • It’s pretty cool. The animation I’d different but I like it. I’m watching Smallville for the first time ever now. I like it. 7 episodes in. I’m sure I got like 100 more to go.

      • And ironically, Amy Adams is in this episode to play the villian. Tsk tsk.

      • @LeatherCheerio.

        Spoiler Alert.

        Clark Kent will become Superman.

        • Haha. One can only assume!

Amy Adams just went berzerk on a deer that she hit on the road. Ate that shnit raw!

            • No doubting. Clark just said he has to fly. He gave it away right there!

        • @ Jeff…

I´m sure I told this story before, but one time I was over at my mom´s place and she was watching Smallville. I asked her “Hey, what are you watching?”. She said: “Smallville. It´s about a guy who finds out he´s an alien with incredible superpowers.” Me: “You don´t have to explain to me who Superman is.” My mom looks at me. She goes: “Superman?”

          • LMAO… So good! I did’nt know smallville was the superman legend, and when i watched it the first time on TV (second season) i had it figured out by halfway through the opening credits.

          • @Scapegoat.

Bravo! That made my day. :)

            • And this will make your night: Last week, when Superman Returns was on TV, I was at her place and watched the beginning (the plane catching scene is fabulous), and my mom said (after watching the scene where Claik jumps around in that cornfield): “That´s a total rip-off of Smallville!” The echo of my facepalm still halls through her living room.

              • Sounds like my whole family! … “Wait, why does this spiderman have like, different hair or something from Spiderman 3? he looks different somehow…”

              • @Scapegoat.

                ::FACE PALM::

                • @Jeff – BWAHAHAHA…this is why moms are the best. Only wish that had been a Facebook conversation.

      • Smallville is actually my favorite Tv show of all time! (After fringe, Lost, Arrow, and a couple others :D ) it gives me thes weird nostalgic and kinda sentamental feeling every time i watch it.

        • I’m definitely liking it. It’s corny but still good. I can only imagine what it would be like if they had made it in this day of age. Or maybe the next few seasons grow up. I’ll see!

          • Smallville has its ups and downs. You probably won’t like every single decision made story-wise but it is worth hanging on, especially for seasons 6, 9 and 10, my favorite seasons because the show gets into some heavy Superman material.

          • Wait till you get to season 9′s Absolute Justice. One of the best episodes.

            • I just upped the Netflix membership from 2 discs out to 3 at a time because of these responses haha.

  3. I’m eager to see Jim Carrey back on the big screen twice this year. People say he’s lost his touch, but Jim is still an actor. And actors expand. Maybe he wanted to calm down a bit after being off the walls bonkers in the 90′s.

    Still a fantastic actor IMO

    • I like Jim as well. His comedy wad one of a kind.

      • I think he’s great as an actor overall. Yeah, Comedy is his obvious major, but he’s been great in other types of films, like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Man on the Moon” for example.

        • I agree. Eternal Sunshine was incredible. The Number 23 was pretty cool as well. Cant ever forget The Truman Show either. But my TOP JC movie is Me Myself and Irene. Tops them all. Probably the Farrelly Bros best flick as well. Right there with Stuck On You. I’m sure everyone will say Dumb and Dumber was tho lol

          • Seasons 1-2 (and 3 to some extent) are a little tacky, but the awesomeness ramps up after about halfway through the third season!

Dont give up… you would regrett it the rest of your life!!!!

            • Dait! this was supposed to go up under the smallville thread…

              excuse my apparent randomness. :)

              • Umm sorry that was supposed to be “Dang it”

^stumbles all over self and leaves in confusion and disgrace^

                • Haha I still understood it. I’m getting them 2 discs at a time from good ol Netflix. (yes I’m still a disc subscriber). So I’ll be watching this series for a while.

  4. I have been posting the same thing for a while now and nobody will comment and I just want to hear your opinion of a Suicide Squad movie. What do you think? Should the characters be: Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Bane, Black Spider, El Diablo and Captain Boomerang?

    • I’dliketo see Rick Flag for the first one and then Deadshot lead the second one. But i think it be a great idea. The comicbook version of Dirty Dozen.

    • I don’t ignore your post, I just don’t have credible input. Sorry.

  5. Whod win in a fight
    Hit girl or Black Widow?

    • Hit Girl

    • Widow is stronger, has more experience and all those fancy SHIELD gadgets. She´d take out Hit-Girl, before breakfast.

    • Isn’t HitGirl that kid in Kick Ass? Man that was terrible lol

      • The movie, the comics, or both?

      • that movie was great, whatchu talkin bout willis?

    • Black Widow.

Trained Assassin vs a Trained Hit Girl.

No competition. Black Widow has years of advanced training, and can hold her own against most men.

Hit Girl, is still a child, she does not have the strength, or Stamina.

      • But Hit Girl will play dirty and doesn’t give up… did you see her off the Russian he-woman even after being beaten to a bloody pulp.

  6. Didn’t get to see Dredd in theaters. Since its releasing on Blu-ray this Tuesday, just wondering if its worth picking up ?

    • Most definitly! It’s a great uncompromising actionfest of the old school variety with a bit of dark humor thrown into the mix (think RoboCop).

      • @TheLostWinchester,
Thanks I’ll be picking that up for sure :D

    • I missed it as well. I get most of mine from Amazon ordered the day of release. I heard nothing but good things. Having an 8 mth old kid keeps you on lock down. Miss out on most movies. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

    • Def pick it up. Second favorit CBM of the year.

    • Pick it up! It was my favorite movie of 2012. Karl Urban nailed it.

    • its the closest to an arkham asylum movie we’ll get for awhile.

    • It was actually similar to The Raid… but I liked it better.

    • Definitely. Urban nailed it.

      • Thanks for the feedback everyone!!

  7. Hey does anyone here watch new girl?

Man I can’t get enough of that show! I’ve been Watchibg it from the beginning and every episode is hilarious. Picked up season one on DVD (sadly there’s no BluRay release) and been watching it over and over. So funny. Reminds me of how much I loved the office when I first discovered it. Lol Zooey deschanel is super funny.

    • Yeah I’ve seen it and I agree with you 100%! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get to the 2nd season yet but I have them on my DVR. New Girl deserves praise.

      • Yeah definelty get to it. Season 2 tops season 1 so far. Great story arcs and character developments. And also hilarious. Zooey deschanel deserves a Emmy.

        • In my household, anything Zooey D related isn’t allowed lol. Same goes for Katy Perry. My wife gets told ALL the time by friends, co workers, and strangers that she looks like her and she HATES it. It’s to the point to where she despises it. I always found Zooey to be extremely pretty and talented though. Probably why I married my wife haha. Anyways, she is great tho. I’m sure that show is good to. Favorite movie with her in it will always be Elf.

          • She is extremely talented and very attractive. Definelty on my list haha my favorite movie with her is yes man and my idiot brother. She’s just great in everything she’s in.

And I don’t really think she looks like Katy perry. Lol and me and my wife are huge fans.

          • Your wife looks like Zooey? Pics or it didn´t happen. ;)
Kidding. But if she really looks like her, congratulations!

  8. Who is more awesome?

    Stephen Amell or Jeremy Renner

    • I would say Renner because I’ve seen more of his work (Bourne Legacy, SWAT, and Avengers). But Amell is not bad though- gotta see how Arrow turns out. I didn’t really give any concrete evidence but I’m kinda lazy : )

    • Renner :)

  9. Who would Love to see McAvoy as a young Gandalf in the silmarillion? …

Did that even get reported on Here?

  10. David R. Ellis (director of Final Destination 2, Cellular and Snakes on a Plane) is dead. :(

    • Your once or twice a week reporting of your day to days are fantastic. They make my day haha.

      • I try to bring a positive spin on my days.

This is just remedial training for me, I feel sorry for some of the recruits, who are 20 years younger than me and who looked winded from a 1.5 mile run.

All my Coastguard training in firearms and arrest procedures are all lateral eligible, all I have to worry about is PA Law Codes.

        • Swwweeeeeeeeet! I’m sure all of my certs aren’t worth much anymore. Its been about 5 years. But I don’t need em now anyways!

          • Awkward Moment #3,567 in life.

When you meet the Pennsylvania State Police Helicopter trainer.

            You start comparing notes.

Find out, that the trainer has 1,500+ Hours less flight time logged, and behind you by 6 Ratings in Helicopter/Plane Operational Flight than the trainee.

Trainer only has Civilian and Law Enforcement Helicopter training, where as I have SAR, Military, Law Enforcement and Civilian. Not to mention, I have Hurricane Ratings.

But still, I have to obey his instructions.

            • Take his ass into a hurricane then.
