It’s Wednesday, so that means it’s time for our weekly discussion post – where YOU determine the topics!

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.

  1. Where the frak is “EUREKA”? If they cancell it, I will swear off the Sci-fi channel. First BSG and now this, talk about alienating an audience. Fox used to be awesome at that, now it looks like Sci-fi channel takes the cake nowadays.

  2. I’m in complete Sarah Connor withdrawal. If Fox geek Friday doesn’t end up working and T:SCC and Dollhouse end up cancelled, I might actually have to get a life.

  3. “… I might actually have to get a life.”

Now, now … don’t do anything drastic. You might make the rest of us look bad. :)

  4. Yeah I was just trying to find out when Eureka was coming back yesterday, but the show page on Sci Fi was OF NO HELP.

Fringe: What in the heck is going on there? That Harris character is unbelievable. Seems they would be able to get him out of that situation simply because of his past with Liv. Whatever. I’ll keep watching the show though becuase I still think it is awesome.

BSG: Wow. Just. Wow. I’m still reeling over Dee’s death to be honest… such a shock for me. And Gaeta organizing a mutiny? WHAT? Seems everyone has lost their fracking mind on that show.

    Heroes: Looking forward to Monday

Lie to Me: Has anyone seen that? Worth DVRing tonight?

Legend of the Seeker: It’s a train wreck. I watch it now to see how much more they can up the book.

    House: Still fantastic as usual.

Movies: Haven’t had one reach out and say GO SEE ME in a long time. Looks like I’m going to have to wait until 6 March for that to happen (and I have my handy widget on my Google homepage to let me know when that’ll be :D )

  5. “Legend of the Seeker: It’s a train wreck. I watch it now to see how much more they can up the book.”

was supposed to have a placeholder for a curse word before ‘up’ haha:

Legend of the Seeker: It’s a train wreck. I watch it now to see how much more they can BLANK up the book.

  6. Has anyone seen the trailer for ‘Planet 51′? I saw it last night ( almost fell out of my chair laughing) and I think it’s going to be better than ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’.

Its a planet of aliens living a peaceful life when out of the sky comes this rocket that lands in the middle of alien suburbia, disrupting a bar-b-cue. Then this guy in a space suit steps out and plants the Stars And Stripes in the middle of the sidewalk! Changes the whole meaning of “alien”, doesn’t it? I loved the little ‘dog’ too!

So what do you think? I’m now looking forward Thanksgiving for more than the spiral-cut ham now (never liked turkey)!

  7. ahaha, that’s awesome! and the little dog too!

  8. Oh my God that’s hilarious! I love the “dog”. Ha! “Take your medicine…”

  9. Paul Blart: Mall Cop should make Kevin James the top-rated comedian as he should be.

  10. I was already going to chime in on the third word of the comments here–frak–and then someone posted “blank” as well.

I’m getting f*cking tired of faux coarse language, specifically on Battlestar Galactica. In FarScape, “frell” and other words were amusing placeholders, obviously to broaden the broadcast markets.

I think you can put any nonsense word after “WHAT THE–” and it will make sense. But compound forms of THE F-word are not to be, um, screwed with. “Mother-frakking” or “You’ve been nothing but a a frak-up all your life” just takes me out of the story.

  11. Anyone else looking at that video game Batman: Arkham Asylum? I’m curious just because they brought Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill back together as Batman and Joker… Oh that will be so awesome…

  12. Has anyone seen Hulk Vs yet?..I bought it today and am going to watch it tonight….2-Disc Edition!!!!

  13. Does anyone else feel like ‘Iron Man’ was definitely deserving of a nomination for costume design…?

    That armor is amazing!

  14. Heck yeah. I want one!

  15. @High Caliber

I hadn’t thought of that, good point. However I think that award goes for overall design, which is why “period” movies tend to do well.

    Vic

  16. @Sylar

Yeah it gets on my nerves as well. The worst was when Gaeta said ‘I guess a pity frak is out of the question then.’ leaving no doubt as to what the word replaced (I know it was obvious, but they could have just left it as a generic curse word).

  17. I was just watching Blade Runner today on TV and I think it would be cool if they brought Rudger Hauer back into the movie scene. I think it would be awesome if they booked him for a GOOD horror flick, romantic movie, another movie opposite Harrison Ford, in a Tim Burton live action film, a film like The Labyrinth, or….as one of the Volturi in New Moon or Eclipse! That would be so awesome!
As far as greaest movies I have seen this week, thanks to Netflx, here is my list…

    1. Get Smart (It was frickin hilarious! You gotta see this movie!)

    2. Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Killer Shrews (Another awesomely funny movie!I couldn’t stop laughing!)

    3. Wall-E (I actually wasn’t too sure about this movie at first, but it grew on me. The storyline is great and is mostly suspenseful, with some great comic relief in all the right places, and the characters were very relatable . Loved this movie!May have to purchase later on if it doesn’ come out on Direct TV soon.)

    4. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Loved this movie, but rented the Blu-Ray version and wasn’t too impressed with it. They made the movie too small to really enjoy in Blu-Ray,so I advise buying this movie on regular, full-screen dvd for maximum enjoyment.)

    5. Journey to the Center of the Earth (Hilarious! Brendan Fraser did not disappoint in his movie! He was funny and..at times in the film you could tell where it was computer generated for when it was made for 3-D…but the comedy in the movie quickly made you forgive them for these small errors and allowed you to truly enjoy it.)

  18. Full screen DVD??? I never understood why those are even made, why would you WANT to miss 30% of the movie you’re watching???

  19. Is there a forum or a website that focuses on the DVD or blu ray releases and news regarding that? Because currently the blu ray version of Terminator 2 sucks. It doesn’t have any of the special features the special edition DVD’s have and from reviews I’ve read the transfer seems to be a direct copy from the DVD, they didn’t bother to do a high definition transfer on it. So basically it’s completely not doing any justice to a great film. I want to know if they are planning on releasing a better version of it, especially with another Terminator movie coming out, maybe that will encourage them to take the time to do so??

    Anyone know?

  20. Oh, and Aliens. I don’t even think they have a blu-ray version of Aliens… That’s BS…

  21. @Ken J

Before I purchase a Blu-Ray disc I got to Amazon.com and read the reviews – that’s how I found out about the crappy BD version of the Terminator movies.

And no, the Alien movies AREN’T on DVD yet. I’m waiting eagerly for the first two to be released.

    Vic

  22. Yah, I did that too, I didn’t purchase it, I’m basing it on the reviews. But what I HATE about Amazon’s reviews is that they combine all of the different formats, so when you go to the BR version and read the reviews, 90% of them are for the other DVD editions. So you have to sift through those and find the ones that are actually about the Blu Ray version. There’s no option or link to click to limit it to only those written specifically about the BR version. That’s so stupid…

  23. Let’s see…Blu_Ray version movies that rocked…

    1. Wall-E (Awesomest family movie ever on Blu_ray!)

2.Journey To The Center of the Earth

3.Max Payne..(Although I didn’t much care for this movie, the Blu-Ray version was done well.)

4.Righteous Kill (Good movie, but it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be.)

    5. Get Smart (Loved the Blu_ray version!)

Movies that didn’t do so well in Blu_ray…

    1. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Although it was beautiful in Blu-Ray…they made the screen of the movie too small to really see much or enjoy it,so would recommend regular version.)

Movies I would like to see in Blu_ray…

    1. Mystery Science Theatre 3000
    2. ET-The Extra Terrestrial
    3. Corpse Bride
    4. Mostly all the Batman movies.
    5. The Shining
    6. All the old Disney movies.( I know they working on them, but I impatient to see how their amazing artistic achievements look on Blu_Ray)
    7. Sleepy Hollow
    8. Yes…the Alien and Predator movies..(Hopefully they will lighten up Aliens vs. Predator a bit. That movie was so dark that you could barely see anything to really enjoy the ugliness of the hybrid creatures in it.)
    9. Family Guy/ Robot Chicken/ The Simpsons movies,,,mainly the Star Wars cliches.)
    10. Star Wars movies…(That would so totally ROCK!)

Movies that I thought weren’t so great..

    1. Max Payne (This movie was great in the beginning…kinda creepy…but then you find out what is really going on and after that the film goes downhill.I mean…c’mon! The part where he roars after pulling himself onto the dock and taking the drug was cheezy as hell! With all the build up to this film, I expected better. The game was awesome…but I think they should have just not done this movie if they couldn’t do it a bit better..or maybe this is just one of those games that just shouldn’t ever be made into a film.)

    2. Righteous Kill ( Pacino was funny in this film, but after awhile I thought this film dragged a bit. I still like it though and would see it again gladly, just to see Pacino crack jokes again, but it was kind of a disappointment as well.)
