It’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post. Today I’m heading up to Park City to hang with some fellow movie bloggers who are covering Sundance. I won’t be covering it for the site because they don’t show many of the sorts of movies you guys are interested in.
As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice.

I was thinking that it won't be bad to see more photos like this: http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/senior…
I really want to know how some of the writers here look like, but maybe that's just me, hah
Well, there is an 'About' page in the bar at the top, oh wait, I think it's no longer there. Hurmm… Vic, what happened to it? I thought that was a nice thing for the site.
I've tried to search every bit of the site – no pictures. And some of the writers don't even have them as profile photos
I don't want to sound childish, but I'm really curious…
I would like to say how much I enjoyed the Holmes Vs Avatar thread.
And sooooooooooooooo happy to see 24 back, my favourite show of all time. Jack Bauer is god!
Hi. Long time lurker first time poster.
I just had a thought while watching “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt”. Not a bad movie, but not great. anyways….. I was thinking Amber Tamblyn would make a pretty good Mary Jane. She very much has a 'girl next door' look to her, and she seems to be a decent actress. She's a little old for the role but she still looks young.

well… that's all I got. C-ya.
@Raven 415
Excellent choice. I don't think 27 years old is too old though, c'mon.
It's roughly around the age Peter Parker & Mary Jane are in the comic books.
Oh, but that's right it doesn't seem we are going to get a mature treatment of Spiderman while Sony have the film rights.
She's absolutely not too old for the comic versions. However, everything I've heard about the reboot has been talk about starting with Peter in Highschool again. Now personally I think she might be able to pull that off too.
This is in a slightly different vein than the Spider-Man reboot. But I am curious if anyone saw the article Comingsoon.net had up yesterday about The US Torchwood Revamp… http://bit.ly/6ZecZp As an American living in England i'm torn…

grrrr…. reposts… can someone delete those…
I just want RED HAIR…. and the confident attitude. (even though she is hiding a troubled past) MJ is believe or not a fairly deep/strong character. I thought the 1st one was going to touch on this when Pete was taking out the trash… then they regulated her to just a love interest.
Watching Farscape….. I cant believe the power of the Xbox 360, Netflix and live streaming…. Its just incredible.
I was thinking about X-Men First Class and how badly the series needs rebooting, not a prequel based in movie history, NOT COMIC HISTORY – bad idea!
Hey, if they can reboot spidey on a whim, why not x-men?
And I always thought the beginning of X-Factor was an interesting premise. The 5 original Xavier students posing as mutant hunters to blend in with the hysteria, so they could secretly train the mutants and keep them safe.
And it all started with Cyclops losing the battle for leadership of the x-men to a powerless Storm. Then Beast and Reed Richards find Jean Grey alive and cocooned! Iceman and angel leave the champions (a crappy forgetful team) and the dream continues.
Those early Simonsen X-Factor adventures were great and the first 10 issues led up to the Morlocks, “Mutant Massacre” cross-over. Great stuff.
So I'm going to take the plunge and finally get myself a Blu-Ray player (My TV is currently going to waste otherwise). Anyone have any suggestions as to what's a good company to buy from? I was thinking maybe a Sony (they seem to work quite well for me with my MP3 player).
Also, I finally saw Moon. Really loved that film a decent Sci-Fi that did a lot with its modest budget.
Josh,
If you do (and can pony the money) get one with the streaming feature included. Once I take care of some other financial obligations a new TV/player etc is on my list. Streaming is just amazing..
Experience Blu-ray Disc™ movies in Full HD 1080p quality with HD sound plus upscale your DVDs to near high definition. Instantly stream thousands of movies, videos, music and more from Netflix, YouTube, Slacker and other leading content providers with the Sony® BDP-N460 Network Blu-ray Disc player.
Im sure there are others. I cant speak to the items themselves yet just “features”. GL!
Thanks for the advice. I think if I'm willing to watch movies streaming from the internet, I'm not going to be that bothered to watch them on my HD TV when my laptop will do just fine, if I really wanted to watch that movie on a TV, I'd rent or buy the DVD/Blu-Ray.
Thus, I think just a normal player will do me just fine (I doubt I'd even utelise the BD-Live features).
Also, for anyone in the know, what's the upscaling of normal DVD's like with Blu-Ray players and does it differ from player to player? I know it won't be anything like a real Blu-Ray movie, but is it decent and is it any better than a simple DVD player hooked up to a HD DVD?
I just recently startet digging the latest Ultimade Spiderman Comic (i always keep gettin remindet when i see the spiderman posts here on screenrand. Anyways i think they are on issue #6 so far)
Even tho the Ultimate Universe is very different from the mainstream marvel, i realy start liking the idea of a teenage spiderman again.
I for one would like a sort of Ultimate reboot direction. To bad it wouldn't involve the rest of the Ultimate teenage heroes like Kitty Pride and Torch.
I havent read any of the new Ultimate (after Ultimatum) yets. Did you read the “Original” Ultimate line?
It's gone so stalkers like kaminari have a harder time honing their craft.
J/K
I'm loving the Netflix streaming on my PS3 as well. What a world we live in!
The upscale on my PS3 from a DVD is quite noticeable. Especially the sound. I noticed a huge reduction in blurriness (not that it was bad you could just see it on the edge) when I zoom up the 16:9 ratio to fit my widescreen. If you can swing it, I think you would love the streaming movies. Especially for tv episodes. Been catching up on the Doctor Who series lately it is awesome.
I have a question for y'all. What movie comes to mind that made you cry? I mean REALLY made you cry. Not just a gravity pulled tear…. but a “Holy poo! I'm crying!” Believe it or not (for me) it was Powder (1995) IMDB: “A young bald albino boy with unique powers shakes up the rural community he lives in.”
I moved the link to the About page to the bottom of the page. I was trying to draw more attention to the different site sections at the top, but I may consider putting it back up there again.
Kaminari,
The link is at the bottom of the page. Here it is for you:

Hey, thanks a lot for saying so. We need to find more opportunities to do something like that.
it might sound strange, but the movies who make me cry harder are not the ones with a truly sad story, but the ones that are beautiful and imaginary – like out of this world… Brazil and Memoirs of a geisha come to my mind right now, but there are a lot more
Ack. Yeah, we should have covered that.
Aw, thanks so much! ^^
I wouldn't mind if you take some more group photos though – they are interesting, heh
