Vic Holtreman of Screen RantIt’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post. Today I’m heading up to Park City to hang with some fellow movie bloggers who are covering Sundance. I won’t be covering it for the site because they don’t show many of the sorts of movies you guys are interested in.

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. :)

  1. Mary Jane is not supposed to be “the girl next door” type. She is suppose to be a super model “type”.

  2. Define Super model type? Looks wise yes.. however while having a snotty attitude growing up she blossomed more into a fairly intelligent sex symbol. She was never just a bimbo or love interest.

  3. You know what I meant by Super Model. Looks. “Super model” is not used to define personality, upbringing, or intelligence.

  4. If FOX is doing it, you can almost be guaranteed they will screw it up and make it “angsty.” I liked what I saw of Torchwood, but if they stay true to it in the US version, it will be cancelled halfway into the season. Great show for BBC America, but US networks have no patience nowadays to let a show grow its audience.

  5. I bought the baseline Panasonic model and it is a great machine. The movies load pretty quickly and the picture on the upconverted DVD's is almost Blu-Ray quality. If you have a great receiver, though, the sound will NOT sound as good as the Blu-Ray simply because the sound isn't there. To me, the picture on the Blu-Ray is great, but not THAT much better than a regular DVD. The better sound is the biggest improvement. The model I have is DMP-BD60K. The next step up I believe just has more audio outputs. Plus I have a Panny TV and it works seamlessly with my TV. I absolutely love it.

  6. Damn, I hit Like instead of Reply lol. Thanks for the info Vic, great to see it's still there. I can understand why you moved it, and it's ok as long as it remains somewhere.

  7. A lot of us are going to the San Diego Comic-Con this year so we'll be sure to take some.

  8. You must have some sort of cookie setting in your browser that's not allowing your login to “stick.”

And did I read that right? You MISS 790?! :-P

    Vic

  9. Anybody planning to see the new Harrison Ford film this weekend?

  10. Hey Vic,

I have noticed as of late some articles that have been containing spoilers have been posting said spoilers “before the jump”. I am ignorant to how wordpress works but it's got to have a “preview” function or something. I personally haven't had anything spoiled and honestly given the time that has passed since these stories were broadcast, a couple of them shouldn't be considered spoilers anymore — i.e Dexter. But, with hulu and DVRs, you never know when people get around to catching up on their own time.

My point is: if your going to make the effort to declare it a spoiler (and all the writers for Screenrant have used good judgement) make the effort to conceal it within the article.

Suggestion: I've also noticed, some websites have “mouse-over reveals” for spoilers: IMDB for example. I'd impress upon wordpress to implement something like that.

    Thanks!

Forgot to mention: I view SR through /archive. I'm not sure how many other people view it the same way. Heck, it may just be me noticing it…

  11. Nope. Looks like a made-for-TV movie that someone decided to just show on the big screen. Memories of “Lorenzo's Oil” for me.

  12. My logins stick everywhere else just fine, for here, even if I have a page open where I'm logged in, if I open another thread in another tab or whatever, I have to log in again… My cookie settings are not that strict.

And about 790, I don't really care if he has a problem with me, that's his problem, but he was a regular, I'm sure he has lots he wants to talk about, kind of sucks that the new comment thing is keeping him from doing so…
