It’s Wednesday, so that means it’s time for our weekly discussion post – where YOU determine the topics!

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.

  1. how does everyone feel about the current state of comic book movies?with the recent storm of updates with releases and projects coming up (green lantern, 3rd batman, iron man 2, avengers, thor, etc.) does everyone feel that they will continue to get better or atleast be really good and stay away from the past screw ups? I.E. the batmans of the 90′s, first hulk, the atrocity of nick fury (david hasselhoff???), catwoman and so on? one can only hope that they will stop messing up these movies.

  2. Don’t have much to say about the comic book movies, but I do have to admit something that I’m not terribly proud of. Every week I watch Knight Rider and every week I enjoy it. KITT is just too cool.

  3. Im sorry but that show is aweful. I gave it a shot, couldnt watch it anymore. The only thing it has are hot chicks.

  4. how many hits does screenrant get a day?

  5. Oh I’m sure the comic book movies will be mostly average, but there will be a few gems. Just like any other genre.

  6. It is a little bit better after the re-tool, but still not something I’m proud of watching. Especially considering how hard I was on it when it first showed up. I’m just a technology geek that thinks KITT is cool and is paying the ultimate price for it.

Having a new hot chick every week does help a bit too.

  7. @Patrick

That question is the web version of asking a woman how old she is. :-P

    @Ken

I think comic book movies are getting better and better. Iron Man and TDK (especially TDK) raised the bar on how seriously you can take a comic book movie.

I’m just glad that finally it seems like they have screenwriters who understand that the “comic” in “comic book” doesn’t mean “funny.”

    Vic

  8. Ditto to what Vic said. I think Spiderman started (maybe even Blade) the comic-book-movie-seriousness craze. I’m really enjoying these movies and hope they continue in this direction.

    @Psyko
I have given Knight Rider chance-after-chance and they keep letting me down. I do like the car (it had to grow on me) and, of course, the babes.

    Johhhhhnnnnnn!!!!

Oh, I mean, the very intellectual better half of the human race.

That’s better! Now get in here and wash the dishes!!

    8-) :-)

  9. @ Vic
Does that mean you only get 29 hits a day?

    Sorry, just couldn’t resist.

  10. @Bill

LOL, no way I could pass for 29 anymore. :-P

    Vic

  11. What the, there’s another ken j now too?? How many freakin ken’s are there on this site???

Anyway, this is the capital K and J Ken J?? I don’t know how else to differentiate myself, lol. :-D

Anyway, most of you guys have not heard of this movie, it’s a Chinese movie, but if you have ANY interest at all in martial arts movies, do yourself a HUGE favor now and go out and look for a movie called Ip Man. If you can’t find it anywhere, buy it from YesAsia:
    http://www.yesasia.com/us/ip-man-dvd-hong-kong-version/1014037991-0-0-0-en/info.html

Trust me, if you at all enjoyed Fearless or any more reality based martial arts movies, you will love this movie. My friend told me about it and lent me his copy to watch it. I’ve seen it like 3 times over again and some of the fight scenes several more times. It’s based on a real person, the guy who trained Bruce Lee in his Wing Chun.

  12. LOL @ ken j (not schitzo, I swear)

about what you said about Knight Rider, because one of my friends love that show, and I asked him “why do you like it? It sucks!” and his answer was, well, it’s ok, but the chicks in it are HAWT!!!!

lol, so it’s funny that you would say that…

  13. Has anyone watched Lie to Me on ABC? I just caught up on the first 4 episodes on Hulu and I find it very interesting. Makes me want to take a class on how to tell if someone is lying rofl.

  14. @Vic

Hahaha alright, sorry for my moment of tactlessness.

  15. @Patrick

No problem at all. I would think anyone who doesn’t run a website would even know that’s not a question you generally ask. :-)

I’ll tell you this: The number has 5 figures. :-P

    Vic

  16. @Ken J
A co-worker of mine clued me in on Ip Man last week. He plans on buying the DvD and I’m planning on borrowing it. it stars Donnie Yen so you know it has some awesome fight scenes.

  17. @Vic
Daaaaang… Can you slide some of those hits my online comic strip’s way?

  18. With Donnie and Sammo in, that looks worth seeing.

Certainly the comic book movies are a level up from all the remakes and rehashs we’re getting.

  19. Speaking of comic book movies ,
when are they going to make
    Deathlok?

  20. Ken J, sorry for the confusion, i posted as ken, and realized there was others so i used ken c, then saw another, then i used ken j because i had forgotten about yours, so from now on i will go on as Ken X. lol. And yea your friend is right, the only reason i was able to stand the few eps i watched were cus the chicks are extremely hot. lol

  21. Vic@
Wow, thanks. I was just curious, I didn’t really think when I asked. though, I wouldn’t have thought it rude at the time , but I understand now.

  22. Does anyone know of a good website for obtaining international film release dates?

I will be in France on March 9th and I am wondering if I can expect Watchmen to be released with the same date as in the U.S.?

Same goes for Wolverine… does anyone know if it will be released, for the part, around the world in keeping with its U.S. date of May 1st?

    Thanks!

  23. High Kalibur,
according to The Internet Movie Database
Watchmen is released in France on March 4th.

  24. kahless, tell your friend to NOT buy the one on amazon, trust me, it sucks. Not the movie, but the DVD. Go to the link I gave you to yesasia and order the HONG KONG version from there, not US, not China, Hong Kong. It’s the best transfer if I’m not mistaken. I believe the version I saw was the Hong Kong version which was great and the one on Amazon is a USA import from China and it blows. The sound is VERY soft and they redubbed the entire movie into Mandarin since it was recorded in Cantonese (an inferior dialect according to China) so things like the sounds of hits or whatever are all out of sync and some sound effects were simply omitted. And the picture quality makes it look like it was made in 1970 when it’s a fairly new movie…

  25. Sorry to link other movie websites, but have anyone read this article?
    http://filmonic.com/avatars-laz-alonso-says-he-was-being-filmed-by-197-cameras

What do you guys think he means by being filmed by 197 cameras? Do you think it’s part of some super precise motion capture thing? Or is there going to be tons of bullet time? lol.

  26. @Ken J
My co-worker says he always get his Chinese movies from that site (yesasia, not Amazon).

Well, I went onto rottentomatoes and see there are no reviews for Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li. Looks like they are not allowing anyone to preview this, which normally means one thing…it’s crap.

  27. Ooh, comingsoon has an image of The Book of Eli, but it’s only Denzel Washington looking like he’s homeless. But soon, we will get to see Titus Pullo/Frank Castle go after homeless Denzel Washington…

  28. Thanks Gary!

  29. Anyone else read Emily Blunt’s reaction to losing the Black Widow role? It’s actually kind of sad! She actually seemed very excited about it, which would have been nice, she would have put everything she got into the role since it was something she really wanted.
