Vic Holtreman of Screen RantIt’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post. FYI, we’ve made a few more subtle changes here – now when you’re in an article, the category will be highlighted in the top nav, just to pretty things up and let you know where you are.

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. :)

  1. Don't know if this has been asked before but just curious as to which four corners of the globe everyone hails from.

I live in the city of Adelaide in the state of South Australia in Australia. Enduring another stinking hot 38 degree Celsius day.

Finally got to see Avatar in 3D last Saturday night with my wife. Have been putting it off for a while. Very cool movie. :-)

  2. Wow I really don't like this Disqus poop your website has started using. Is it just me, or does everyone have to relog in constantly in order to post? If it wasn't for that I suppose it would be acceptable. But this is getting to be beyond annoying.

  3. I live in the UK and it's still bloody snowing here. I'd love 38 degree C weather.

  4. I have to keep loggin in when at work, but at home I stay logged in no matter what.

Perhaps take a look at your cookies, see if they're turned off and also check to see if any browser extentions or add-ons might affect it.

  5. Hey Vic, the post looks a little wacky with the very wide Google Ad to the left of your post picture and the text. It makes the whole post intro (your picture and the text) look squished to the right. Didn't know if you knew that.

  6. Columbus Ohio

  7. Thanks, it was just fixed. :)

  8. It's got to be the cookies setting in your browser. I stay logged in for days on end with no problem.

  9. I'm from Fairbanks, Alaska.

I have a question for Rob Keyes. First off, thanks for pointing me in the right direction to your sister site, Gamerant, when he saw that my Avatar was Juggernaut from MUA2. Cool site. Me and my three sons are pretty avid gamers. But…

Speaking of comics, and comic films specifically, I am an amateur screenwriter. The second film that I wrote, I penned for Marvel. It was about one of Marvel's smaller super-villains, that was sort of an anti-hero, like Blade. Of the four scripts I wrote, I got the farthest with that one. I had it professionally edited, which cost me a lot, and made a pretty reputable producer contact. He was able to get the script across the doorstep of Stan Lee's production company POW!Entertainment, and even got an email from Stan the man himself. Unfortunately, the buck stopped there, as Stan was no longer on good terms with Marvel. I've submitted that script to Marvel, but considering that they probably get 2000 a day, most of which are junk, ripoffs, or unmarketable, my question to you is this…how can I get my script in the right hands? I know it could sell. I've read comics, and graphic novels, and seen films that were total crap, and yet got published or produced. I'm open to any of those options to get my work out, but getting it across the welcome mat at Marvel seems to take an act of god.

Why am I asking you this? Because I saw your picture with Stan, and wondered if maybe he gave you some insight, or if you know him, or if you know some insider secret that you could pass along to me. I'd sell my sell to get my work to the right people. If you don't believe me…cue Mephisto and send him my way. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

  10. Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try.

  11. There's about a metre of snow here in ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA.

and here's something, I watched the first 5 SAW movies in order over about two days. They are much better when watched in this manner. The threads are clear and if particular chapters in this franchise are weak on their own, they are not necessarily weak within the story as a whole. Such as 5, it's a weak film but an integral chapter in the history of jigsaw (albeit an attempt to continue the story minus jigsaw, good luck with that).

  12. I dont know if this is just me or not, but everytime I log into to commit on one article, I have to login again for every other article I go to. Is there a way to fix this?

  13. As I mentioned to someone above, it must be a cookie setting in your browser. you can also go to http://help.disqus.com for more info.

  14. It snowed here in Chicago last night, and the snow was rather heavy. It's the fluffy, powdery-type snow that people spend good money to ski on at Aspen.

Anyway, I got a notification from Amazon.com that I can pre-order Sherlock Holmes, but the only version that's got all of the extra goodies is the Blu-Ray, and the money for a Blu-Ray DVD player isn't in the cards (my budget will allow for a portable standard DVD player, not a Blu-Ray DVD player).

There will also be a 1 disc standard DVD available, but (from what I was able to figure out from the product description) it won't have any extras. I'm really hoping that there will be a 2-disc standard DVD with most of the extra goodies that will be on the Blu-Ray DVD, but if not… I'll wait for Sherlock Holmes to air either on Video On Demand or on HBO and Cinemax.

  15. Oh whoops! I didn't even see that comment. My bad!
And I'm terrible with computers, what are the “cookie settings”?

  19. Thank you. It's looking good so far with Firefox, but I'm still having troubles with IE8. I guess that's what I get for going back to IE8 for a little while lol.

  20. Hi Joe,

    I'm sending you an e-mail.
