  1. What is your favorite Christmas holidays movie?

    • Elf.

    • Home Alone.

    • Scrooged.

    • 1. Its a wonderful Life
      2. Christmas Story
      3. Christmas Vacation

      • I watch 24 hours of A Christmas Story every year. of course not the whole 24 hours, but it stays on the tv in my den the whole time

    • It’s a Wonderful Life.

      There is no better.

    • Die Hard

    • Elf. And have you guys ever watched the trainwreck that is A Very Brady Christmas? I can’t look away.

      • ALF’s xmas, and It’s a Bundyful life (married… with children)

    • Christmas Vacation and Christmas Story,

    • A Christmas Carol, hands down. Sadly I’ve been hard pressed for like the past 5 years to watch literally any version of it on TV.

  2. I posted this link somewhere else as well, but I thought I’d just post it up here so that everybody can rest assured that Maria Hill WON’T have superpowers in ‘The Avengers’.

(The following link goes to an article where Smulders corrected her little “slip-up” when she said Maria Hill will have powers:

    • @ TheAvenger

Im sure it was nothing but gossip & some people will still be worried as ever till the movie comes out now. If they do go to see it.

  3. My favorite Christmas movie? One comes to mind is Die Hard. “If this is your idea of Christmas, then i gotta be here for New Year’s” _Agile. Lol. I watched Home Alone too many times as a kid & now my nieces & nephews watch it now. Im pretty sure i stated before what movies i watch before Christmas.

  4. I always thought Bane kinda looked like one of the Mutants from The Dark Knight Returns. I just didn’t wanna believe Nolan would kinda mix the two together. Hopfully the film still delivers & maybe i get to see my 2nd favorite Batman villain done properly. Wishful thinking.

  5. 70 years people. Anyone gonna watch any films based on Pearl Harbor?

    • Good idea. Might watch Tora! Tora! Tora! tonight.

      • midway.

      • @ INK

I watched Bay’s film Pearl Harbor this morning.

  6. National Lampoons is my favorite Xmas film. I watch it every Xmas eve

  7. I think I’m gonna go with elf and home alone 2. But my favorite is the Santa clause.

  8. Well, we’ve watched The Santa Clause 1 and 2. Still have no. 3 to go.
Then it’ll be ELf, Charlie Brown’s Christmas, CHristmas Story, Home ALone, Christmas with the Kranks, Christmas Vacation, Four Christmases. Rudolph, Frosty, The Holiday and on Christmas Eve … Polar Express. Probably some I’m forgetting but there it is.
Favorite would be between ELF and Christmas Story.

    • yeah idk how I forgot about a Christmas story. Jeez. But that’s on for 24 hours in my living room on Christmas. Drives my wife crazy because for some reason she hates that movie.

  9. Have there been any more rumors of the ‘Man of Steel’ casting? I wanna know who’s gonna play Jimmy.

    • Who’s the go-to ginger actor in hollywood?

though not a red-head, I’d say Jim Parsons from TBBT would be great.

      • Haha! That would be hilarious!

  10. Some of my Christmas favorites:

Babes in Toyland (Laurel and Hardy version)
    Blackadder’s Christmas Carol
    Scrooge (Alastair Sim version)
    Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas
    Nestor, the Long-Eared Donkey
‘Twas the Night before Christmas (1974 cartoon)

  11. I just watched CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS and correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t that originally entitled SKIPPING CHRISTMAS?

    • It was, but they changed it to that because around the same time another studio released a film titled “Surviving Christmas” with Ben affleck and James Gandolfini and the studio behinf CWTK changed the title to avoid confusion between the two.

  12. You know, that x-mas term really bothered me until I read this from Wikipedia:

Xmas” is a common abbreviation of the word “Christmas”. It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as “Xtemass”, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsməs/. The “-mas” part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for “Mass”,[1] while the “X” comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as “Christ”.[2]

There is a common misconception that the word Xmas is a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the “Christ” out of “Christmas”.

    I can live with that.

    • interesting. But I can live with that as well

    • It is the reason for the season ;) lol

    • Still don’t like the word “X-mas”
Why can’t people just say Christmas?
(It’s only like 4 more letters!)

    • Indeed. Thanks for the share.

  13. Here’s a question, if there was one family from tv or film that you could spend Christmas day with who would you choose?
Think I’d go for The Flintstones! That would be an entertaining day!

  14. Harry Morgan (Dragnet, M.A.S.H.) passed away. RIP, Harry.

    • I just saw that too. :(

      He was 96 though!

  15. Is this real?

  16. One of my co-workers couldn’t believe it when i told him i havn’t seen It’s A Wonderful Life, lol. Told me he was gonna bring it for me to borrow. I asked him as Bruce Wayne does from Batman:TAS ” It isn’t exactly cheerful is it”? Come to think of it, i’ll be watching that episode of Batman:TAS since is one of my favorites of the Joker.

  17. So I finally saw Green Latern film. I have to say, it was not that bad. It was not great but I enjoyed. The action was pretty cool.

  18. So can anyone believe how popular the American Chopper aticles were for posts? I mean wow it was close to a thousand last time I checked it. I guess people really like their bikes.

@Kahless good to know about the whole x-mas thing. I was always one of those people who thought it was just people leaving Christ out of Christmas.

It’s also sad about Harry Morgan’s passing. He was a funny old guy. I mean that with all respect.

  19. Vic,

I’m almost shocked that no one at SR has done a review of “Once Upon a Time”. All you’ve done thus far is a heads up on the main star some months ago and a blurb about its renewal.

I think it’s one of the most clever and interesting shows out there, managing to weave together the fairy tales with the modern world in a very engaging manner. I’ve enjoyed it more than just about any other show and feel it deserves some time in the SR spotlight.

(and no, I’m not a shill, just someone who thinks this is a great show ;) )

    • The show is…okay. I’d take Grimm over ‘Once Upon A Time’ anyday. Also, I think many of the writers here are guys. I don’t think they are into that mushy stuff.

  20. Anyone watched the Christmas episodes of Eureka and Warehouse 13? I liked Warehouse 13′s episode but I felt the Eureka episode was flat.

    • I didn’t even know Warehouse 13 was still on… :P
I watched the first season and the first half of the second season, but then lost interest…
At which season are they at now? (because I honestly thought the show was cancelled).

      • I think they’re on their 3rd season, but I’m not sure. It grew on me, and now I’m a loyal fan.
