As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. icon smile Open Discussion December 30, 2013

  1. I am having ScreenRant’ing AOS withdrawals LOL

  2. Advanced happy new year to all!

  3. How likely is there to be a grain of truth in the Denzel Washington/Green Lantern rumors?

Will John Stewart cameo in BvS and they’re testing several actors?

Is Denzel Washington involved in any capacity and is he testing for more than one role?

Too many questions. Not enough answers.

    • Denzel Washington and Laurence Fishburne in the same film? Is Man of Steel 2 going to be Oscar bait?

Blockoscar Oscarbuster Oscarblock…someone better coin the term for an Oscar Blockbuster

    • I’m not sure I believe the Denzel rumors – there’s absolutely no way the Green Lantern one is true. He’s not a big fan of franchise films, and he’s not a fan of all of being a cameo/tiny supporting role. Him as Lex I’d LOVE to see but I don’t think he’d do it.

  4. I wonder what rumors the new year will bring in. I seriously doubt the Denzel/GL rumor. Will GotG trailer premier during Super Bowl, since no F&F?

    • I buy into rumors anymore, they are just a waste of time. I wait for the hard facts/offical confirmations. :D

      • Argh! “DON’T buy”. Why do I only see all these mistakes the very second I hit the Submit button?!

    • I think rumors about Darkseid will pop out of no where.

      • Sidney Poitier is rumored to be Darkseid

  5. That’s what I think or it’ll be a mid-credits scene with all the future JL characters also

I also quite liked it. Leo knocked it out of the park. Especially in that scene I mentioned in the previous OD that might be offensive to parapalegics haha.. That scene was hilarious. Also I loved the scene with the FBI on his boat.

You think Jonah will get an oscar nod? I’m not even gonna ask about Leo cuz the Academy must have a vendetta against him or something.

      • “not even a scratch” cuts to Lambo

        hahaha loved it

  6. ok why does Netflix scrap 4 and 5 star films and keep a bunch of crap? I have a list of really good films in my Q so when i get time I go back and watch only to find out they have taken them out and left the trash? anyone?

    • Time-limited licensing deals. Since high quality movies usually are a lot more expensive they tend to have shorter runs on streaming services like Netflix, while they can easily keep their library stocked with all the cheap trash.

  7. Finally saw RED 2. First was way better. This one was ok. but it kind of felt all over the place. There were some funny moments though. 6.2/10.

Saw Wolverine as well. Very good, I am one of the few who actually enjoyed the origins Wolverine, but this one was better than that. I would love to see a sequel. 7.5/10

Also am checking out Da Vinci’s Demons on DVD. I have 1 episode left. It’s good, not really my kind of show, but I am enjoying it. 6.8/10.

    • I should have waited to see RED 2 for cheaper. It wasn’t worth the big bucks.

    • I actually enjoyed the Origins movie too.. I thought Ryan Reynolds was a decent Deadpool right up until they ruined him.. Also good to see Gambit, he was always my favourite from the Cartoons as a kid..

  8. So what were everybody’s favorite movies of the year?

    • Some of mine were Pacific Rim, Star Trek 2, American Hustle, 12 years a Slave, The World’s End, and The Way Way Back.

    • For me it’s a tie between Star Trek Into Darkness and Oblivion, closely followed by Gravity, Man of Steel, Elysium, Iron Man 3 and World War Z. All of them were highly entertaining movies, despite their more or less flawed stories. There were more great movies, but these few stood out to me.

    • I enjoyed too many films this year. It’s impossible to pick a favorite.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was my least favorite. (that I watched…Lone Ranger, Smurfs, Movie 43 could all be in that position if I actually valued my time so little that I purposefully wasted it by watching those films)

    • We had a good chat about that on the podcast this week – might be up today :)

  9. Thanks, they should really work something out to get past that.

  10. My favorite movies of the year are Man of Steel, Star Trek into Darkness, 42, This is the End and many others. This is the End was one of the year’s funniest movies.

  11. I saw Anchorman 2 over the weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But at the same time, I became confused by my feelings.

When the Hangover 2 came out, I hated that it was the same exact film just set in Thailand instead of Vegas. I couldn’t get past that. But, Anchorman 2 does the same exact thing (New York instead of San Diego), yet I was fine with it. Perhaps Anchorman just had better jokes, but I really am concerned that my brain may be broken.

    • I’ve never seen the Hangover films, but I see where you’re coming from. I really enjoyed Anchorman 2 as well even though many of the situations and jokes (if you think about it) were recycled from the first one.

The movie put the characters in situations that caused them to react in ways they already had in the first Anchorman. I’m sure the same can be said for the Hangover sequels (although, again, I haven’t seen them). But the situations were very funny! The lines were very quotable. All the castmembers were fully committed. They knew what kind of movie they were making and they made it in the funnest (not to mention funniest) way possible. Whatever the reason may be it just worked and I loved it. I’ve seen it twice already.

      • By the hymen of Olivia Newton-John, you’re right. ;)

  12. I know someone answered me before or I might have read it in passing but I forgot the answer:

Why doesn’t screenrant have a forum?

Was it because of maintenance and operation?

    • @Mongoose – I’ve had the blank page appear after I wrote a lengthy comment a few times. Now, whenever I post a longer comment, I make sure to copy the text just in case. That way I can quickly paste it and resubmit. That’s an issue that’s been around for quite some time.

Re-typing user information for each post (auto-filling)…that’s something that just began a month (maybe less) ago. It is quite annoying. It seems as if the technical side of website is having more issues lately…but I still very much enjoy the free content of the site so I don’t really complain.
