As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice. icon smile Open Discussion December 18, 2013

  1. On arrow will Diggle become Black Lightning?
I’m not saying that because he is the only Black preson on the team, but I have been waiting for that since he came on first.

    • If for whatever reason they have to write Diggle out (hope not!!) make him a Green Lantern or have him work for Waller or something. No heroic sacrifices. Diggle is too cool for that.

      • I also like Diggle I was just wondering if there where anyplans of him getting a power or somthing. I just don’t get what he dose now.

        • He’s Oliver’s father figure (not that he needs one). Sometimes you just got to go to someone else for advice. Kind of like Alfred to Bruce Wayne, but younger and with spec ops training.

I like that role well enough, but Diggle can be better IMO.

  2. Saw Hobbit last night. HOLY CRAP! LEGOLAS was awesome!!

    • I saw the first and heated it so i’m not going to see DoS soon.

      • Both my brother and I hated the first one and thought this was 10x better. Long and didn’t enjoy the ending but better.

        • It is definenelty more accessible than the first one. Mainly because its pace is 10x quicker, and its essentially action set peice after action set peice. Only in the last hour did i begin to check my watch.

        • Id say its 1.5x times better, it actually has entertaining but it still so filler and more of the same.

          • entertaining action

Legolas was pretty cool! When he was in action in the barrel riding scene that was pretty cool stuff.

Smaug was pretty awesome as well. I loved Cumberbatch’s portrayal of the dragon and the effects were amazing. But I didn’t like how the movie portrayed Smaug, they kinda made him into a bumbling idiot in that final scene with the dwarves. I realize liberties need to be taken with a film adaptation of ANY novel, but perhaps his character would have been better served if he never saw any of them at all, bilbo included (like in the book).

    • But sadly he doesn’t belong anywhere near our intrepid party of Dwarves plus 1.

  3. So how about that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer? 2014 is shaping up to be an okay movie year leading in to the 2015 epic movie year

    • Yup. Too many. TAS 2, DoFP, TWS, and now Godzilla and Dawn. GoTG too but that kind of dropped off my hype meter. I hope TWS isn’t false advertising. It looks gritty and smart which could make it the best Marvel/Disney joint next to the first IM.

      • 1. CA:TWS

  4. The commenct function is still acting up. I can’t comment on the “Welcome to Yesterday” article, for example. I tried it three times and every time my comment would disappear into oblivion once I hit the Submit button. And of course the name/mail boxes still have amnesia. ;) :(

  5. Good morning all…..

Great to see the OD show up on the mobile site!! Now let’s see if it remembers my info.

  6. Nope……

    • :( indeed….

      :( indeed.

    • I have the crazy-eyed-in-a-straight-jacket weasel from Roger Rabbit.

      • Bring me some Dip!

  7. Hey, where are the reply buttons to other comments? And why does it say I’m subscribed to this entry when I’m not?

I think there are a few more bugs to work out. :(

    • There aren’t any reply buttons on the mobile version. That’s why I don’t use it for the OD unless I am reading it.

  8. Speaking of bugs, this is the only website that my computer back me out of due to malware warnings. So what’s up with that? This only started within that last two weeks. I’d like to keep coming back here but not going to risk my info and computer to do it.

    • same here…last week i thought i found the problem, but it started again a few days ago, and it only happens on this site.

      • This started the same time as the user names disappeared and wouldn’t save. Probably related but not sure how.

  9. Hello everyone
Since christmas is next week what is your favorite christmas movie? I choose Home Alone simply because it has that child like feel to it and its funny watching those robbers fall for that kid’s traps.

    • I am not a fan of christmas movies, and I don’t consider Die Hard one. It a movie based during that time of year. However I found Arthur Christmas to be a splendid animated film from Aardman studios. I guess id say that one.

    • There can only be one: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It captures all the ruckus perfectly, is hilarious and still quite heartwarming at the end.

    • Elf…because it ties in my favorite as a child Rudolph

    • I watched Home Alone a LOT as a kid. It was one of my favorite movies.

@ Trey thanks for the Arthur Christmas recommendation I think I’ll finally watch that one this year. Everybody says its great.

I’m gonna go with Elf. I would say Muppet Christmas Carol cuz I loved that one when I was younger but I tried watching it last year and got REALLY bored. Elf has more replay value. It hasn’t gotten old yet.

      • If we go with TV shows I would go with the christmas episode from season 2 of Community. It’s stop motion animated like the Rankin Bass Rudolph and Santa classic cartoons and it just hits all the right notes. And I love the jab at Lost at the end haha.. so funny.

    • Iron Man 3 ;)

    • Only got into Christmas 2 years ago for my son. So I wasn’t one for anything holiday-ish. But my new fav movies would be Home Alone and Elf.

    • Favorite classic is for sure A Christmas Story, favorite soon to be classic is Bad Santa.

    • Jingle All the Way

  10. Scrooged. I hate the ending to (every version of) that story though. Gets off too easy.

    • I finally watched that one last year. I’m a big fan of Bill Murray, but I didn’t care much for the movie. The opening was pretty great though!

  11. Vic,

Please fix the forms not retaining user information.

I am commenting less because it’s tedious to type in my info every singly time.

    Maybe that’s a good thing? :)

    • +1 that!

I am also often not able to post in threads. I will hit reply and it will go to the comment post php screen and then hang on a semi-empty SR page. I can go back and try again but with the same result. I can even restart Firefox and it will continue to do the same thing.

I unfortunately see no pattern as to why it happens in some threads and not others.

  12. Good post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon on a daily basis.

It will always be useful to read through articles from
other authors and practice a little something from their sites.
