Aw, hell… I’d been doing so well lately. Just realized it’s Wednesday and I didn’t post up our weekly forum. Sorry, gang!
Talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.
The floor is yours!
Around the web:

I really dont see what the problem is with Star Wars being presented in this format .
Gary,,,,
Its not so much the “format” is that its just a huge movie pilot for George Lucas’s tv series that’s he’s about to launch, and it deals with a part of Star Wars we have allready seen and most have hated.
What you have here is the old school fans want to continue forward with the story ,,, Star Wars 7,8, and 9.
Not rewind back to the clone wars. It just seems like a huge waste of time to me and other fans,,,, :-/
There’s nothing left to do after Ep. 6. The actors are all WAY too old, the conflict is over, etc.
Although I agree that setting this between II & III is weird. I guess Anakin is the new Luke. I’d prefer to see what happens between III & IV, as having this fill in a gap where we already know the outcome is just… odd.
Vic
well,I was hoping if this was successful,
the next one will show us Vaders early days after episode 3
I think they went with The Clone wars because of the success they had with it on Cartoon Network.
It is a known quantity .
Besides, when it comes to Star Wars they always start with the “bright” adventure and leave the dark stuff for the second installment.
@ Vic: Personally I’m satisfied with the story as it is. Quite a few have their own personal quips about episodes 1,2,3 I know I do.
The die hards out there, which are legion, want the story to continue. Many insist that they want the story of how the republic becomes reestablished. Given now what has transpired, what would a new Jedi order look like. New mandates, etc. Of course you bring back the original characters. Their semi-retired in the context of the story. However, a new generation would benefit from their experience. Of course, that’s harder to do, and more risky than milking the existing structure.
Yeah 790, I’ll have to get me a copy of that.
“A conservative is someone that prefers any past over any future and a liberal is a closet aristocrat.”
Old Man, you won’t regret it. Its the only Comic Con movie I know of,,,and its real funny.
Mark Hamill isn’t playing himself, so its funny to see the looks he gets at the Con, (he plays this semi_gay comic book fan/reporter/director.) I paid like 10 bucks for this dvd and its worth 50!
(On Star Wars)
Taking the risk, I think that’s what’s stopping Lucas, its easy to rehash the clone wars,,,Its really the same with Episode 7,8 and 9,,, those stories have allready been written by the Star Wars fiction writers. The Admiral Thrawn series could easily be incorporated in the New Republic’s rebirth, and Mark Hamill is the perfect age to play (Master Skywalker)…
They could bring back a slew of characters including Boba Fett and Dengar.
There’s a TON of Star Wars fiction
they could use!!!
Somebody just has to convince Lucas,,,
Whats stopping Lucas is doing another trilogy would take close to a decade and he wants to spend that time with his kids.
Lucas is 64 years old .
Yeah Gary, I love Lucas but that excuse is weak,,,
Sure spend time with your kids but unless your gonna fully retire don’t yank my Rancor chain.
He could set up a story perameter and have 30 producer/directors at his front door tomarrow.
There’s no excuse to not film Star Wars episode 7 !!!!
We have the technology and the scripts !!!! Times a wastin.
Just to drift from Star Wars for a bit ,
I have been watching the Olympics .
They have been showing a lot of those VISA commercials promoting the Olympics
Narrated By morgan Freeman,
its just great to hear his distinctive voice at a time when I know he is recovering from a car accident .
I know they say he is going to be OK but
It must be pretty tough to recover at age 71.
I heard his recovery could take as much as 3 or 4 months.
My thoughts and prayers go out to him.
There is no Star wars 7 8 and 9
790 and there are no scripts for it .
at least none writen by Lucas .
and if he crafted another trilogy,
The fans would demand episodes 10 through 12!
Sure Gary, but if your familiar with the Star Wars Novels set after “The Return of the Jedi”,,,there is enough material to do sequels to the films.
Very detailed sequels…. Btw.
I’m not saying there directly called Star Wars episode 7 , 8 ,and. 9…. But there’s enough material written NOW to do 3 films set after “Return of the Jedi”.
Oops correction,,,
There is enough material to do sequels OF the films.
790,they may be enough material to do sequels after ROTJ,but its obviously Lucas doesn’t have the heart to do them and I for one don’t want to see a half hearted attempt at any sequels.
I agree with you 100% Clean Talking Chimp!
Yeah that’s why I said it would be great to have Lucas pick somebody to do them,,,
There’s over 30 novels and prob 100 comics all devoted to events that take place after ROTJ,,,
That’s a lot of stuff just left behind and alot of fans want to see these films made,,,
I don’t see Lucas picking somebody to do any films and himself not being in control.
Gary, Clean Talking Chimp, I know it seems like were, arguing after the horse has fled the barn, the animated “clone wars” is a foregone conclusion, agreed.
Do a quick search with one of the search engines looking for the movies home page, amazing how many toy makers pop up! See, I think Lucas is courting the much younger fan, it’s easier. He should face up to the fact that “Star Wars” time is over. Stop milking it. Better yet, suck it up and make the real deal! By the way, Lucas didn’t direct this film, or some of the other movies. Gene Roddenberry picked someone to continue has brainchild; why can’t George do the same? What, none of his kids good enough to carry on?
I hold a newspaper review in my hand. It’s a review of “Return Of The Jedi.” In it Lucas mentions that he originally wanted to do nine films. It goes on to say that his friends describe him as weary of the whole business, thinking about retirement. They think it’s a crap shoot whether or not the series continues. My friends that was printed in 1983! The retirement excuse is almost as old as his career.
oldman,I don’t dispute one fact in your comment’s but I think you have forgotten who your subject is,George Lucas. He is not going to give up creative control to any one else anytime soon. His motivation at this point only seems as you say it “milking”the Star Wars franchise. He doesn’t seem to have any new idea’s or passion to continue the story. If he did continue the story it would only be for the money and would be half hearted and terrible,I don’t want to see that movie.
“as you say it “milking”the Star Wars franchise” By your own admission, he’s sold out, what’s he got to lose? He could write a spec that a production team would have to adhere to and let go of his fear! Seems like he needs to learn one of his own lessons.
Yes,your right old man,he could do that and probably should, but I don’t think he will do that any time soon. He’s been seduced by the Green side of the Force.:)
