Hey Screen Ranters, I have to tell you about a real funny dvd I picked up a few weeks ago. =
“Comic Book The Movie”. Starring Mark Hamill (Luke from Star Wars)…
Its a very funny mockumentary on comics and ComicCon.
If you see the 2 disc dvd, pick it up its real good and who knew Hamill was so funny. This is the Spinal Tap of comic book films.
Came out around 2002, and also stars Stan Lee, Kevin Smith and Bruce Campbell… Really good bonus features as well.
NBC’s promos for Heroes Season 3 look GREAT!
~~If you’re not up on Heroes,
but want to be some day, skip this~~
Since S2 had major suckage till about halfway through its short run, I’m glad to see some new developments. Looks like S3 will NOT have what seemed to be cookie cutter plots–someone has an apolocyptic premonition of the end of the world, which needs to be prevented.
Unfortunately, two (or three) of the most annoying characters that seemed to be killed off last season, are in many of the promo scenes. Looks like they couldn’t keep Nathan and Niki/Jessica dead. I hope they don’t keep using Clair’s blood as a way to resurrect everyone. This kind of thing works in comics, but not on TV.
JC, this show is shot like a comic, so I would expect Clairs blood to have a long run in the storyline, I could see her blood being used in about 5 different ways.
Looking forward to the new season.
Vic
790, if there is anyone on this site who doesn’t know who Mark Hamill is, they should be thrown in a sarlaac pit!
Lol, I was kidding around Andy.
Everyone here on this site would enjoy the movie too.
This is a question for Vic:
But before I ask the question, I do apologize if it has been addressed already. Will Screen Rant ever do a podcast?
Heroes definately needs a positive turn around this season or I say the show’s done for. I mean the show has bad acting and a bad screenplay as it is, but everyone went wrong for most of volume 2.
Mark Hamill is the man, he can do it all. It’s such a shame he’s never been in forefront of the feature film industry since Star Wars. That guy needs a lead role in some major comic film. Maybe he can play Hank Pym or or something in avengers, lol.
I’ve been thinking more about he wolverine flick recently and im getting even more worried. Since we already know, they don’t give a crap about the source material and that they’re selling out by including random characters like Gambit. Will Gambit even have his French Cajun accent? Will his cards have the famous glow when he charges them up? In X3 they completely ruined colossus be making him some american kid who can’t communicate rather than the russian tank he’s supposed to be.
I tried doing a few podcasts a while back but hated doing them alone. Plus it’s really hard for me to make the time to do one on a regular basis. I may do some guest “appearances” on /Film’s podcast, though.

Rob,you are so right,I would love to see Mark Hamill to get a lead role again.IMHO he’d make a great Riddler,if they would give him a chance.
Lucas , its time to produce Star Wars episode. 7, starring Mark Hamill, as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Set 20 years after “The Return of the Jedi”.
He’s the perfect age for it. Might have to recast Princess Leia.
Mark Hammill voiced the character of The Joker in the 90’s Batman: TAS and was incredible. If you have’nt heard it, you won’t believe it is him.
Take a listen:

Rob, I saw a trailer that someone taped from Comic Con on another website. It not only has Gambit in it but the Blob as well; just throw the comic book out the window. It looks like a decent action flick but why change so many things around. Also, they should have had Colossus fight Juggernaught in X3.
Good news Screen Ranters,,, I have 2 dvd release dates to post !!!!
IRON MAN, out 9-30
INCREDIBLE HULK, due out 9-16 (subject to change)
For those of you getting back from the Pinapple Express, that next month !!!!!!
coolios 790, I look forward to both them DVDs
Also, I’ve been saying that about Star Wars for years. They gotta make 7-9 (it is actually impossible for this to not happen within the next 15 years, lol) Mark Hamill will be running an academy and will not be one of the leads. who knows, maybe even HArrison Ford will have a cameo as an admiral against Thrawn or something (wow this brings back memories of the good ‘ol Star wars games of the 90s)
And Tom, totally true bud. I hear they once though of Hamill to actually play the joker way before Heath was cast. I guess because he already did the voice for some animated series stuff.
What movies are people seeing this weekend?
I have no clear pick.
just curious.
Gary I’m totally staying home this weekend.
(Its BSG dvd time and a few baseball games)
Right on Rob, Admiral Thrawn,,, I would love to see that happen.
To those that havnt read the Star Wars novels set after the events of ROTJ, Thrawn was one of the Empires 12 Admirals. He survived the attack on Endor and slowly began to rebuild the Empires fleet.
He also kept a creature near by that made him immune to the Force.
Come on Lucas enough with the clones!!!
Think how fast all the Lucas haters would turn back to him if he made these. !!!
If I had to pick, I’d probably go see Pineapple Express. Don’t know if I’d like it or not but a lot of people seem to.
Vic
I’m watching “Battle Of The Bulge” DVD edition. I just got my hands on this and have been looking for it for awhile now. It has two rare interviews one with Robert Shaw. The making of is there too. The German officer who consulted for the movie actually fought on the German side in the campaign.
Another box office victory for TDK.
26 million .
Yeah Gary, how cool would it be if TDK beats the new Star Wars cartoon.
790,
there is also Mirrors and Tropic Thunder to deal with next week.
Yeah Gary, I think this was prob TDK’s last weekend on top, wow what a run !!!
Sure glad it knocked Pineapple Express down. Haha.
I’m betting Tropic Thunder will be tops nex weekend and Mirrors will prob do real well with Kiefer.
I sure would love it if the fans send Lucas a message and avoid the Clone Wars.
I’m concerned about Mirrors because it looks like they’re not pre-screening it for critics… ALWAYS a bad sign.
Vic
I was just pointing out competition Clone Wars might have,
I actually want to see it.
Glad to hear it was good .
Thanks for the mini- review Vic.
Let’s get you on the guest list for the /Filmcast soon, Vic!
@Gary Yeah, I’ve got to decide if I can churn out a full review or not.
Vic
“I sure would love it if the fans send Lucas a message and avoid the Clone Wars.” Got my vote 790, unless Lucas wakes up in the end of the movie, having dreamt it all. The framework for this movie blows and Lucas should be ashamed for using his formula in this way. It’s pointless. He should lay down his light saber or make 7,8,9 for those who want them.
You know I really hope it comes and goes without doing much BO.
I remember reading along time ago that Spielberg had even had a desire to direct Star Wars 7,8 ,9. I sure would love that more than Indy 5,,,,
Old Man, do yourself a favor and get that Comic Book the Movie dvd, its cheap, and your gonna crack up. Its such a great spoof on Comic Con and Comic books vs Hollywood Comic book films. Can’t rave enough about it..
Vic you have gotta see this.
I really dont see what the problem is with Star Wars being presented in this format .
Gary,,,,
Its not so much the “format” is that its just a huge movie pilot for George Lucas’s tv series that’s he’s about to launch, and it deals with a part of Star Wars we have allready seen and most have hated.
What you have here is the old school fans want to continue forward with the story ,,, Star Wars 7,8, and 9.
Not rewind back to the clone wars. It just seems like a huge waste of time to me and other fans,,,, :-/
Although I agree that setting this between II & III is weird. I guess Anakin is the new Luke. I’d prefer to see what happens between III & IV, as having this fill in a gap where we already know the outcome is just… odd.
Vic
well,I was hoping if this was successful,
the next one will show us Vaders early days after episode 3
I think they went with The Clone wars because of the success they had with it on Cartoon Network.
It is a known quantity .
Besides, when it comes to Star Wars they always start with the “bright” adventure and leave the dark stuff for the second installment.
@ Vic: Personally I’m satisfied with the story as it is. Quite a few have their own personal quips about episodes 1,2,3 I know I do.
The die hards out there, which are legion, want the story to continue. Many insist that they want the story of how the republic becomes reestablished. Given now what has transpired, what would a new Jedi order look like. New mandates, etc. Of course you bring back the original characters. Their semi-retired in the context of the story. However, a new generation would benefit from their experience. Of course, that’s harder to do, and more risky than milking the existing structure.
Yeah 790, I’ll have to get me a copy of that.
“A conservative is someone that prefers any past over any future and a liberal is a closet aristocrat.”
Old Man, you won’t regret it. Its the only Comic Con movie I know of,,,and its real funny.
Mark Hamill isn’t playing himself, so its funny to see the looks he gets at the Con, (he plays this semi_gay comic book fan/reporter/director.) I paid like 10 bucks for this dvd and its worth 50!
(On Star Wars)
Taking the risk, I think that’s what’s stopping Lucas, its easy to rehash the clone wars,,,Its really the same with Episode 7,8 and 9,,, those stories have allready been written by the Star Wars fiction writers. The Admiral Thrawn series could easily be incorporated in the New Republic’s rebirth, and Mark Hamill is the perfect age to play (Master Skywalker)…
They could bring back a slew of characters including Boba Fett and Dengar.
There’s a TON of Star Wars fiction
they could use!!!
Somebody just has to convince Lucas,,,
Whats stopping Lucas is doing another trilogy would take close to a decade and he wants to spend that time with his kids.
Lucas is 64 years old .
Yeah Gary, I love Lucas but that excuse is weak,,,
Sure spend time with your kids but unless your gonna fully retire don’t yank my Rancor chain.
He could set up a story perameter and have 30 producer/directors at his front door tomarrow.
There’s no excuse to not film Star Wars episode 7 !!!!
We have the technology and the scripts !!!! Times a wastin.
Just to drift from Star Wars for a bit ,
I have been watching the Olympics .
They have been showing a lot of those VISA commercials promoting the Olympics
Narrated By morgan Freeman,
its just great to hear his distinctive voice at a time when I know he is recovering from a car accident .
I know they say he is going to be OK but
It must be pretty tough to recover at age 71.
I heard his recovery could take as much as 3 or 4 months.
My thoughts and prayers go out to him.
There is no Star wars 7 8 and 9
790 and there are no scripts for it .
at least none writen by Lucas .
and if he crafted another trilogy,
The fans would demand episodes 10 through 12!
Sure Gary, but if your familiar with the Star Wars Novels set after “The Return of the Jedi”,,,there is enough material to do sequels to the films.
Very detailed sequels…. Btw.
I’m not saying there directly called Star Wars episode 7 , 8 ,and. 9…. But there’s enough material written NOW to do 3 films set after “Return of the Jedi”.
Oops correction,,,
There is enough material to do sequels OF the films.
790,they may be enough material to do sequels after ROTJ,but its obviously Lucas doesn’t have the heart to do them and I for one don’t want to see a half hearted attempt at any sequels.
I agree with you 100% Clean Talking Chimp!
Yeah that’s why I said it would be great to have Lucas pick somebody to do them,,,
There’s over 30 novels and prob 100 comics all devoted to events that take place after ROTJ,,,
That’s a lot of stuff just left behind and alot of fans want to see these films made,,,
I don’t see Lucas picking somebody to do any films and himself not being in control.
Gary, Clean Talking Chimp, I know it seems like were, arguing after the horse has fled the barn, the animated “clone wars” is a foregone conclusion, agreed.
Do a quick search with one of the search engines looking for the movies home page, amazing how many toy makers pop up! See, I think Lucas is courting the much younger fan, it’s easier. He should face up to the fact that “Star Wars” time is over. Stop milking it. Better yet, suck it up and make the real deal! By the way, Lucas didn’t direct this film, or some of the other movies. Gene Roddenberry picked someone to continue has brainchild; why can’t George do the same? What, none of his kids good enough to carry on?
I hold a newspaper review in my hand. It’s a review of “Return Of The Jedi.” In it Lucas mentions that he originally wanted to do nine films. It goes on to say that his friends describe him as weary of the whole business, thinking about retirement. They think it’s a crap shoot whether or not the series continues. My friends that was printed in 1983! The retirement excuse is almost as old as his career.
oldman,I don’t dispute one fact in your comment’s but I think you have forgotten who your subject is,George Lucas. He is not going to give up creative control to any one else anytime soon. His motivation at this point only seems as you say it “milking”the Star Wars franchise. He doesn’t seem to have any new idea’s or passion to continue the story. If he did continue the story it would only be for the money and would be half hearted and terrible,I don’t want to see that movie.
“as you say it “milking”the Star Wars franchise” By your own admission, he’s sold out, what’s he got to lose? He could write a spec that a production team would have to adhere to and let go of his fear! Seems like he needs to learn one of his own lessons.
Yes,your right old man,he could do that and probably should, but I don’t think he will do that any time soon. He’s been seduced by the Green side of the Force.:)
