You can’t force people to WANT to work through policy. A lot of these homeless people you see in these shelters are not incapable of working, a lot of them are UNWILLING to work, there’s a difference. I said a lot, not all BTW before you get on my butt about that statement, lol. Most of these homeless shelters have an employment office where there’s a city paid employee sitting there with a book full of employers willing to hire uneducated help for low paying positions or temperary workers. So the opportunity to work for their own money is there, but I remember seeing a special where they interviewed some of these individuals working there and they say they VERY RARELY get anyone who even bother walking in there. They simply go straight for the free food, then straight out the door.

Why bother breaking a sweat and working when you can survive without doing so? That’s the problem here, you see people living in Section 8 (government helped low or no income living) housing that’s living better than people like me who have to work 60 hours a week. It’s not that we don’t give enough to the unemployed and homeless, it’s that we give too much, they have no real incentive to work. If they’re really starving, they’ll do what they need to do to survive, and if that means working to fill their bellies, they will, but right now, they don’t have a need to. So why bother?

When welfare pays better than a minimum wage job, what’s to motivate someone to get off welfare and actually work? And the more babies they bring into their poverty, the more money they get, then when those babies grow up, they get on welfare and they have more babies to get more welfare, and it goes on and on and on…

This recession was born out of a congress unwilling to check and balance their precious Fanny Mae and Freddie mac. The government “forced” private business (banks) to make loans to individuals for homes which they had no business getting the loans for in the first place.

Please, before you start ranting about our country and how bad our capitalist-based economy is please read up via informed credible sources.

And please give examples of American poverty. The poor in this nation mostly have a TV and a cell phone. No one is in the US is in abject poverty. Abject poverty implies no hope for change. In America there is always a chance to rise up out of poverty. Unlike 75% (rough guess) of the world.

I will happily give money to people who CAN’T support themselves, but not to those who can but WON’T.

There is nothing wrong with having money,or wanting it. However,there is also nothing wrong with giving some of the less fortunate a bit of help. Especially in this recession borne of capitalist greed.

In a related story, YouTube in they’re crusade against copyright protection has suspended the C-Span Junkie user channel. Effectively eliminating over 6400 Ron Paul vids among others.

Strange that they would target that channel as C-Span falls under public domain and is exempt from copyright control.

Murdoch’s publicity stunt (Wolverine workprint leak) caused several members of government to express the need to better protect online copyright material. (This also exposed the control big media has over elected officials), “big surprise there”
Congress is currently engaged in drafting up a bill that would restrict ALL copy written material online.
This means that SR would have to put up copyright blocks on everything. Pictures of Iron Man the Batman logo etc.
This is all an attempt to control the internet and radically change the nature of the Web.

Sorry I don’t have the names of the elected officials in question with me but I can produce them later if I need to prove my point.

You are absolutely correct!Rubert Murdoch wants us to pay for every bit of content we view on the internet.He is going to begin charging for all his online content from all of his news organizations soon.If Rubert/Fox didn’t leak the Wolverine work-print early online,they are surely taking advantage of it now,and we will all be paying for it soon.

The Wolverine workprint leak has set into motion the wheels of congress to enact new laws dealing with online copyrighted content.
All this it seems was perpetrated by FOX/Murdoch a firm enemy of online free speech.
