  1. hey vic the trailer for the AVATAR is gonna be released on thursday ..?am i right..?

  2. So I watched Punisher War Zone last night…. and while it wasn’t great, i enjoyed it and was quite entertained

why do you guys suppose it is that Punisher movies never do that well, while the rest of Marvel and even DC movies do great

  3. Its most likely because hes not as popular of a character. But i agree with you, it wasnt bad, although i think it woulda been better if they stuck with thomas jane

  4. I just recently watched I Love You Beth Cooper for about $3. I was expecting it to be less than entertaining, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was smart, funny and flowed really well and it was fun to see the Hayden Panettierre play a fallible and certainly destructible cheerleader.

  5. HEY GUYS THERE’S BEEN A FAKE OF REAL SCRIPT OF THE FILM THE LAST AIRBENDER CHECK THIS LINK FOR YOURSELFhttp://lastairbenderfilm.com/2009/08/18/exclusive-journeys-the-spirit-world/

  6. @KEN

i actually preferred the actors in war zone as opposed to the original. The only thing I didnt like was the actor who played loony bin jim i thought he was terrible.
You are probably right about it failing because he isnt as popular which brings me to my next point… do you guys think the luke cage/iron fist movie will suffer the same fate?

  7. Punisher is a hard sell.
Would Batman be as popular as he is if he killed criminals?

  8. @ coolmart
I’m a bit confused about that as well. All these dates are being thrown around about the trailer and “Avatar day” etc. really really hope it’s thursday.

  9. So I’m finally taking the plunge (a few years too late) and I’m going to get into Battlestar Galactica. I ordered the mini-series, should arrive anytime between today and Friday. Should I like it, the same website has Seasons 1-4 on sale for £30.

I have to ask though, for those that’ve seen it, I keep seeing in shops “Battlestar Galactica: The Final Season”. Is that Season 4, or does it come after Season 4? There’s no indication on the box of which season it is, just that it’s the final one. I just want to know if I’ve got another season to buy after the first four.

  10. @Shamose & ken x

I think the fault of this Punisher movie was the script and the actors playing loony bin jim and jigsaw, the villains was simply terrible in this movie, but I thought Ray Stevenson looked bad ass as the Punisher…

    @Gary

I don’t see how that makes Punisher harder to sell. I would like Batman even more if he did kill the criminals. Heck almost all of the time I’m like “why don’t you just kill him? GEEEZZZZ”

  11. @Will, I’ve read that they are releasing the trailers Thursday morning, before Avatar Day thing in IMAX.

  12. Joshi, there’s only 4 seasons of the new BSG,,,
The show is good and introduces a new take on the original BSG,,,

Some of the characters can get on your nerves but overall its worth the journey. Don’t let the new take on the Cylons throw ya.
I just finished watching the last few episodes the other night. Amazing.

  13. 790, thanks for the info.

I’ve been meaning to get into this for a while now, BSG was always one of those shows that I had in the back of my head as a show I know I’d love, but needed to start from the beginning and take it all in at once. This, for some reason, appeals to me more than, say Stargate SG1, or Doctor Who, both of which I know, if I were to start I could really get into, I just don’t want to.

It wasn’t really my intention to wait for the show to end before watching it, but that’s what happened and I’ve heard such great things about it (and been yelled at by my geek friends for not watching it yet), that I figured it was now or never.

  14. @Ken J

I didnt think the script was THAT bad… I do agree LBJ’s acting was atrocious but jigsaw, again, wasnt THAT bad.
The action was GREAT (if not a little over the top) and stevenson, “newman” and julie benz were quite good…

on a different note, I read a while ago about a vampire movie coming soon the plot involves vampires killing humans to almost the point of extinction and they are forced to find a new find a new food source.. does anyone know what its called? and when it comes out?

  15. @Shamrose

That vampire thing actually sounds kinda interesting. I always did wonder when watching shows like Buffy or Angel “if the Vampires ate and killed everyone, who’d be left for them to eat?”. I’d be interested to see that movie.

  16. Yea the new punisher wasnt bad, i just really liked thomas janes punisher. Yea i fear the iron fist/luke cage movie will suffer the same fate. Ive never heard of them! but i will see just for my love of comic book movies!

I saw something about that movie to shamrose, dont remember what it was called or when its coming, but it sounded good. And i think the plot is that there are some vamps trying to save the human race purely for the reason of keep the food source alive.

  17. Happily a bit of Googling goes a long way (and my mother said too much Googling would turn me blind…).

The Vampire movie is called Daybreakers, stars Ethan Hawke as a vampire who tries to find a way to save the human race who are on the verge of extinction. There’s apparently a trailer already out for it here http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00025285.html and from the sound of it, it looks pretty good (although I haven’t watched the trailer yet because I’m at work right now).

  18. @ Shamose

define Original. Thomas Jane Punisher or Dolhp Lungdren Punisher? War Zone was a turd that was only slightly better than THE ORIGINAL Punisher Movie with Dolph. The whole movie (War ZOne) was shown in the comic clips as the movie started, and it went on was just quite boring.

  19. It’s harder to accept the idea of the Punisher as fitting in with the Marvel superhero community. War Zone was fun to watch, but it didn’t feel like watching a Marvel character.

I honestly never understood the appeal of the character in the comics.

  20. You never understood the appeal of a bad ass that went around killing criminals??? What’s wrong with you man??? lol

  21. @Ken

I’m sure, should some movie studio produce a movie with only you in mind, it would be decidedly badass ;) but the general movie going public tends to have an issue with comic book heroes with moral ambiguity. They need to be all Kansas farm boy, clean cut and only doing what is absolutely right.

But don’t worry, whenever they have to make a tough decision that’ll push them over that proverbial line of whats good into the grey of “well… it might be good”, a third option always presents itself to make sure they come out on top. Just once I want some hero, when facing the choice of saving the girl he loves or saving the town/city/world to actually choose the latter.

  22. @ Ken

It’s not the killing criminals part, cause Wolverine does that and I think he’s awesome.

I just don’t think Punisher is particularly interesting. A guy dressed in black shooting up mafia with guns? C’mon, it’s a comic book, I want the characters dosed with gamma rays and can tear tanks in half and a guy bitten by a radioactive spider that swing through the rooftops.

Thems my kind of comics. ;)

  23. LOL, that I can agree with. I’ve always thought that part of the reason why Punisher didn’t catch on in the same magnitude as Spiderman or whatever is because he seems too plain and real. There’s also no mystery since everyone knows he’s Frank Castle. Batman has no powers but at least there’s still mystery behind him. You’re always wondering is his identity might be uncovered and what will happen, etc. etc. With Punisher, he doesn’t use any weird gadgets, nor is his identity a mystery, he just uses his wits. But strangely, that’s what I like about the character, lol.

  24. The shameful thing about The Punisher is that his character deserves a treatment just like how Nolan did with Batman. In fact, the whole story of TDK can be applied to the Punisher easily. Imagine if Michael Mann made a serious Punisher film knowing how Mann loves the crime genre?

Frank Castle rulz, Bruce Wayne drulz.

  25. thomas jane IS the punisher, and the first one is one of my favorite marvel films

  26. that ending was perfect, and travolta is freaking easy to hate lol

  27. So does anybody else feel that the avatar site crashing was just publicity?

  28. @coolmart

Avatar trailer premieres online Thursday morning.

As to Punisher: War Zone – I liked it and got a lot of grief for giving it a positive review. 8)

    @Vin

I don’t think the Avatar site crashing was publicity – but I *am* surprised it got that much traffic. I guess everyone who is interested in it is online so they were all aware of the preview and wanting to see it.

    Vic

  29. @Vin

No… I think it was stupidity. Avatar already has more than enough publicity going for it. Fox sinks almost £500 million into this film, it’s been one of the most anticipated films for a good year now and then, when Fox say “go to the website, we’re giving away free tickets to see 15 minutes of Avatar this Friday… in IMAX… in 3D! Did we mention it was free?”, they don’t consider that maybe they might have a rise in visitor to the site?

Fox has made some blunders in the past and this certainly isn’t the worst, but come on.
