It’s Wednesday again, time for our regularly scheduled open discussion post.
As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself – just remember to play nice.
Oh, and the image on the left? Just a little Mad Men riff on my usual pic.

oh my good lord! Frank Darabont is developing a TV series of the Walking Dead!!!
http://www.totalfilm.com/news/frank-darabont-developing-the-walking-dead
I think a little bit of sex wee came out!
Watchmen?!? Peh! The Walking Dead is the best comic series I have ever read, everyone should read it who hasn’t already!
oooh, and I like the cartoon pic Vic!
I think its great that we’ve moved passed the Transformers / GI Joe phase of the year.
Like passing a cinematic summer kidney stone. If that makes any sense.
The animated Vic photo is a keeper.
@ 790
I hear ya, very painful. Although when watching ROTF I felt like the kidney stone being pushed through a tight, suffocating tube! Seriously, it was like being shouted at in the face for 3 solid hours, and not in a good way…
@790
Then you’re not going to like an article we’ll be publishing in a couple of hours.
Vic
I watched the final episode of season 7 of The X-Files last week and now I’m watching (for the umpteenth time) season 8. No mulder, or at least not much.
You know… Robert Patrick was frikkin’ awesome. The more I watch the final 2 seasons the more I appreciate Agent Doggett. He was like the daniel craig/007 of the X-files. He was kicking ass and taking names. And there was some quality writing in seasons 8 & 9. I do love Mulder’s dry wit, but Dogget had his dry moments too.
That episode where Doggett had amnesia in the mexican town was very good. Does anyone have a favorite Doggett moment?
Wow, one week without internet, now I have 600 Screenrant notifications in my inbox, lol. Think I’m subscribed to too many threads…
@Pitt man
you know, I was never an x-files fan, but I’ve always been a fan of Robert Patrick. I might watch some episodes just to see the T1000 kick some ass, lol.
@ Mario
I hear ya! I’m totally hyped up as well for the promise of a Walking Dead TV series.
Hey Pitt! I must agree with you 100%! Agent Reas and Dogget finally find Mulder….that was a fave and you could feel the compassion on the small screen. Mr. Patrick did a fine job.
@ lovechild
Totally dude! I was reading vol 7-9 (crying and gasping through 8 & 9 esp!) thinking how awesome it would be as a TV show only then to find out that the director of arguably the best movie of all time is involved!! Best day ever!!
I just hope they don’t tone it down but saying that (spoiler!!) with what Frank Darabont came up with for the end of The Mist, I don’t think we have to worry!
Yeah there was NO level of quality drop off when Patrick took over for Duchovney. The last 3 seasons were really good. Better then Fringe.
I remember that episode where Doggett was in Mexico, that episode was actually submitted for Emmy consideration.
@ Cloverfield, 790 & Ken J
It’s official. Doggett in hindsight is definitely 20/20. I remember when Duchovny left and Patrick took over, nobody seemed to give him a chance, but it was still the X-Files and Carter & crew delivered the same great stories, albeit with a different spin. Such as the super soldier storyline.
I loved the final episode, Scully and Mulder deserved their moment, (And cancer man/CSM Spender with long hair in the anasazi ruins… F**Kin’ deadly!) but I don’t feel as though Reyes and Doggett got their “real” finale. I wish there was more Dogett, but hey… that’s a testament to a job well done. Cheers to the T1000!
Its been years but I think Reyes was the one that got screwed out of reappearing in season 9. (I could be wrong on that?)
If I recall Doggett had a closure episode as did all the supporting FBI cast in the final season.
One of my favorite episodes of that series was the one that showed the
assassinations of the CSM (D Rumpsfeld, uh hemm). He was the one behind things all along,,,
Did anyone else here the terible news that Legendary Pictures is planning on rebooting the Godzilla series(not the japanese series, thank the lord)?
Screw Godzilla this is the Cloverfield Generation.
Hey Matt check out,
“Japanese Monsters Attack the G8 Summit” its hilarious…
Vic who’s writing up the “District 9″ review ???
I’m sitting down to write it right now.
Vic
Cool Vic, I’ll read/comment it after I see the film tomarrow…
T-minus 15 hours to go!!!
I’m really looking forward to this film. (This is my GI Joe),,,,,,,,,,,
790,
LOL, I loved that movie(not kidding) it pretty much defines the term “so bad its entertaining” heck I even put in on my list in the Guilty pleasure forum. I also love Godzilla trust me I’m as big of a godzilla fan as you are of Terminator, and Cloverfield freaking ruled.
….however I think the reboot is gonna be a HORRIBLE idea, you can click on my name and read my thoughts on it on the blog I write for.
I love the picture of the G8 members on the back dvd cover doing karate moves.
What makes you think I like Terminator ?
.
Lol,,,
Hey Matt, what’s the genral prob you have with the reboot.
Define it ,,,?
B/c its Hollywood making it. I consider the Godzilla remake the WORST EVER MADE even worse than T3, and you know how I feel about that. Hollywood seems to love screwing up characters, and they already made Godzilla less credible than he already is. Its mostly b/c of the remake. I know, its too early to tell what direction they will go in and it certainly can’t be as bad as the remake. I’m just suprised that Toho is letting Hollywood handle their creation again…especially after the disrespect they received from Emmerich and Deavlin. I’ll admit though I am curious as to see where they are gonna go w/ the story, but I still say its a bad idea.
Speaking of “Monster X Strikes Back”, how did you like the Kim Jon Ill impression? That would be the best part of the film for me.
I’m sure whoever the producers get will do better than the Matthew Brodrick does New York version,,,
I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the techniques in Cloverfield in the new rebooted Godzilla.
^
I’ve only watched the first 15 min of JMATG8S,,, I’ll check back with you on it after this weekend Matt.
I was interrupted, can’t get into the details,,,
District 9 review is up.
