It’s Wednesday, so that means it’s time for our weekly discussion post, where you determine the topics.

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.

  1. You know, I wish they would make another movie based on the Alien universe, even if it’s as crappy as Alien Resurrection or Alien 3, just so it might motivate them to release Alien and Aliens on blu ray…

  2. with alot of things being…”family friendly” now… alot of movies are not as good as they should be. Aliens would be awesome but i don’t think they’d work on it just yet… maybe after the game they’re working on is released…

  3. How about the sequel to Boondock Saints – All Saints Day, do you think it will be any good. I heard it might have a direct-to-dvd. I hope not. and its not a joke, they have started filming.

  4. i would like to see a remake or reboot or whatever of “maniac cop”… by robert rodriguez… mainly for the ridiculous gore and cast he would put in. Also maybe in a couple of years if a good script would come along and someone who could direct it well… “spawn”. But who knows right…

  5. I’d like to see Firefly come back. Oooooh, that’s right, I went there. :P

But really, that’s the ONE TV show I can watch any time. And yeah, Serenity too. A notable accomplishment coming from somebody that usually can’t watch any movie twice.

  6. what about dark angel? i like to see james cameron take dark angel from tv to feature film.

  7. DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION WOOHOO !

  8. Talkin about Dragonball Evolution, I think people take some films way to seriously. I think popcorn should be criticism-proof completely.

  9. jc, not only have they started filming, they have completed filming.

i wouldn’t be surprised if this was direct to dvd, with the history behind the first one I’m guessing it’s not high on distributors lists of movies they want to promote.

Anyone catch the Rescue Me premiere last night, I’m in Canada and it hasn’t started here yet.

  10. I was wondering when Eureka is supposed to hit the air again?

  11. I thought this past week’s episode of Chuck was great!! Although whenever I see Chevy Chase I automatically think Clark Griswold. LOL. I’m really really hoping that Chuck is renewed for next season. Then again, they’ll probably cancel for some reality show like “America’s Next Top Plumber” or something.

  12. Anyone else dissappointed by the past couple of Heroes? Cold Snap ruled everyone’s face, and the last couple of episodes I find myself watching just to get through so I know what the major plot points are. Cold Snap was truly enjoyable from start to finish. Damnit, just let Brian Fuller write every episode. The other guys’ crap is in no way enjoyable.

  13. You guys hear Sony is planning to make a film version of the classic Shadow Of The Collossus?

  14. @huntthejest

I’m weeks behind on Heroes, so I can’t say… sigh.

    @Vineeth

There are good popcorn movies and then there are movies so bad they don’t even qualify as a popcorn movie.

    @jago

Some of the best movies out there are “family friendly.” Look at AVP:R, that was rated R and was TERRIBLE.

    @Ken J

I too am waiting for the first two Alien movies to come out on Blu-ray!

    Vic

  15. @SK47

Yeah, I think we’ll be writing something up later today on that.

  16. Hi everyone!
Ahh, here I go again…(well, this IS ScreenRANT…)
Is anyone as disappointed in the current state of animated direct-to-DVD videos as I am nowadays? After a great start with the Batman:The Animated Series and the Phantasm and Mr. Freeze animated films we are now handed such crap as Superman:Doomsday and JLA:New Frontier (not to mention Marvel’s disappointing releases such as Hulk and the abismal Doctor Strange, which are far, far WORSE!)
With all of the competition out there for the consumer’s dollar nowadays, this is the CRAP that is foisted apon us??
Come on comic publishers and producers, you’ve GOT to at least match Bruce Timm and Paul Dini’s efforts or what’s the point? They’ve set the bar high now you’ve got to beat it.
    Put some effort into it!

  17. Gale, I agree. I was mostly happy with the Iron Man animated movie except for the obvious discontinuity of Howard Stark being alive and kicking in it. In fact the subplot seem to be about Tony redeeming himself to his father. It made me never watch the whole movie again.

The first Avengers movie was okay, the second had its moments that topped the first movie but neither ending was very good. I have to agree, stick with the Batman movies…

  18. Hey vic, site suggestion: Can you make the comment box a little bigger? It doesn’t take much to have to start scrolling back through to reread everything…

  19. I can’t post right now as I’m madder than a Denebian Slime Devil! What’s soo great about Austin, Texas and Sydney, Australia anyway?! STAR TREK SHOULD HAVE PREMIERED IN WASHINGTON, DC!! Does anyone have a tissue? *** sniff *** :-)

  20. @Zipper Stevens

    How’s this? :-)

I made it two rows taller plus it’s wider so it’ll take more text before you hit a line wrap.

    Vic

  21. @ vic

well played… but so was avp… and that was “family friendly”. All i’m saying is that certain movies should be done the way the writer or director first pictured it. Also most family friendly movies from back then were way better then the ones from now… everythings all “pc” now. “Where’s Don Rickles when you need him?…”

  22. “Where’s Don Rickles when you need him?…”

According to PollStar, this Saturday he’ll be at the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, WA

    You’re welcome.

  23. Thanks INK lol i wanted to know too

  24. OMG Vic, the comment box is too big!

    :-D

    lol just kidding, hahaha.

Seriously though, someone needs to be kicked in the butt about not having Aliens on Blu Ray. It’s not like it’s some low budget B movie nobody’s heard of…

  25. I would also like to see a Dark Angel movie, surely Cameron didn’t give it to Fox forever, and if so surely with Cameron about to become mega-popular again they would want to bank off that and resurrect Dark Angel as a movie, the ending of that series was such and F’d up thing to do to fans. Thats when I first started to see Fox for the bastards they still are.

Also anyone else feel bitter-sweet about watching Terminator: SSC this Friday (or whenever on HULU)? I wanna watch it and don’t, its like Dark Angel all over again actually. I love the series I love sci-fi, I don’t watch sci-fi channel because I don’t subscribe to that service but my dad watches all these really low budget POS sci-fi shows and I cant help but wonder how they stay on the air and things like TSSC gets cut. Have they officially announced that it wont be back yet? I wonder if there’s a snowballs chance in Hell for it. If its over or they think its over I hope the guys behind the series do a good job of making a real ending that we can be happy with until T4 this summer. And not some cliff hanger, Sarah is about to get shot in the face by a terminator or something ending.

  26. @INK
Lol… Didn’t mean it that way but thanks eventhough i already knew that.

  27. Entertainment weekly online is reporting that Leonard Nimoy is n talks to play The enigmatic William Bell on Fringe
    More as it develops.
    Man, would this be COOL!

  28. Richard, your concern is well founded. Although they have not killed Sarah Connor like you’re afraid of, they’ve killed off just about everyone else… The latest episode had the most shocking one yet because they did it in such a non-dramatic way yet it has such a huge impact on the show… Seriously, when you watch it, it just… happens… and you’re left going, “wait a minute… did that person just… die???”

    Yah…

  29. I think another Serenity movie would be cool – a return of the Firefly series would be ideal but i’ll take what I can get. I don’t know where they would go with a Dark Angel movie to be honest – if they do, I hope Alba would have enough sense to get on board.
