It’s Wednesday, so that means it’s time for our weekly discussion post, where you determine the topics – but as long as I have your attention, I’m trying some things and I’d like your feedback. I’m trying to de-clutter the website and have removed some things as an experiment.

They may stay changed or I may put them back – but know that I’m trying to improve the visitor experience for Screen Rant readers.

As usual – talk about whatever you like as long as it’s related to movies, TV or Screen Rant itself.

  1. I actually have never gone anywhere off the main page except for clicking on the news articles on there.

Im really excited for wolverine, i talked to some people who have seen the real movie, not the one that got released and they said it was good. They offered it up to me, but im waiting for the theatre.

Anyone else still watching heroes? I was severely disappointed with the season finale. I dont want to be spoilerish at all….

    spoiler warning (nothing major)

whats up with not actually showing the big showdown? i mean, we were all waiting for a big fight scene? And they def could have solved the problem that they solved, in the same way it was solved last time! This is the first time i was severely disappointed in the show.

  2. Its the budget, they cant have a big fight as much as i would love to see one :( maybe next season will be way better since Fuller is back. The last 5 episodes were really really good.

  3. Yea, i def noticed the episodes being better. I guess my expectations for the finale were a little too high.

  4. I wasn’t really all that impressed with the finale either. It just seemed like a bit of a mess. Like a weaker average episode.

    My biggest problem…

    …Spoiler…

I’m not happy with them turning Sylar into Nathan. In no way does it sound like a good idea. Just a bit of a cop out. I’d rather they just live with the fact that Nathan is dead and lock Sylar in the basement of “The Company,” to escape some day later. After all, Peter finally has some powers again.

  5. Semi-Spoiler…

Yes, but what of Peter’s remark about Sylar not realizing he took “that one”? Does this imply that Peter only took 1 of Sylar’s powers? And since when does Sylar fly? Did I miss that one?

Of all the characters to kill off though, I’m a bit surprised they chose Nathan. It is definitely not going to last, I think they should have had Matt suppress Sylar’s non-flight powers, otherwise, they are bound to show up, which they did, and so he’s bound to start asking questions, which he will. All too predictable. But who knows, like it was said, Fuller’s back and that can only mean he’s got a plan with where he’s going with this. Unlike the mess of non-Fuller episodes.

  6. RE: heroes

    Spoiler alert

I was disappointed they kept the fight scene of camera as well, I’m guessing it was bugetary, but maybe they did it in order for us not to know what happened, so it would be a surprise when Peter turned out to be the President, or maybe to keep us in the dark as to who was who.

One thing that doesn’t make sense to me, as was mentioned above, since when does Sylar fly? that really had me confused.

I do like the Sylar being Nathan angle, except it keeps Zach Quinto out of the show for awhile which sucks, but I’m looking forward to next season when sylar’s urge to take other people’s powers starts to affect the new nathan. sets up a good storyline IMHO, Nathan struggling with this urge to kill.

  7. SYLAR IS NATHAN!?!?!?!?! WHAT!?!

Anyone knows when Sons Of Anarchy is out on DVD, 1st season? Anyone here watch that show?

  8. Who said Sylar could fly? I saw him levitate not the same thing. Nathan could have been the who actually flew them out the window. I dont think the real Nathan will be back bc i dont think they’ll return to the time travel storylines. If they wanted to make the mind wipe permanent they should have used the Haitian and then had Parkman give Sylar Nathans memories.
And last but not least I liked the ending but did anyone notice how its a total rip off of the original Terminator Salvation ending. You know when they take John Connors skin off and put on the terminator bc the world needs John Connor. I think it works better here though.

  9. I really enjoyed the season finale of Chuck and I am really REALLY hoping that it returns next season. The show has the right blend of action, humor (gotta love Casey) and sexiness.

    SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD!!

I am really shocked that they killed off Chevy Chase. I thought he made a great bad guy (although I kept thinking of him as Clark Griswold!). Maybe he was only signed for a few episodes? NOT at all shocked that Chuck ended up with the Intersect back in his head or else the premise of the show would be over. I am curious as to what cover they will use now that he and Morgan quit the Buy More. Maybe he gets a job at a university or something…

  10. Geee 90caliber, how about a spoiler warning? HUH? I DVR’d it and won’t be able to watch it until tonight. Glad I stopped after your first sentence. Is it so hard to put SPOILER ALERT when you post?

  11. Andy S

    spoiler alert for anyone else

I liked the season (series?) finale too, great episode. But giving Chuck Neo-like abilities might be a mistake, a great part of the show is Chuck being completely overwhelmed when the shit hits the fan, if he’s a frickin’ ninja now, the show will lose that aspect.

  12. @JMoney..

    SPOILER ALERT for Chuck finale

I agree about the whole kung fu thing, but it could also be fun as he all of a sudden finds himself doing stuff he had no idea he could do. I loved the expression on Casey’s face as Chuck all of a sudden kicked everyone’s butt. It could be fun exploring what else Chuck’s dad put in the Intersect….

  13. Since when can Gambit make objects fly around him and charge the kinetic energy in them with out touching them to then fly and hit his target? I didnt know that was one of his powers. I thought he could just throw what he charges. Oh well, Thanks fox for messing Gambit up again.

  14. What confuses me about the heroes finale is why did they not use Claire’s blood to save him like they did when Noah died in season two?

  15. SPOILERS for Chuck finale

    @ Andy S
It was awesome. I agree that the ninja part is kind of a twist on the character, but then again I would not want the show to stay the same season after season (hopefully we’ll get a season 3). It is kind of interesting in the way that Chuck is not a killer so that whole ‘gun side’ of things is really not available.. Maybe it’s a way of upping (don’t really know if that word exists) the danger factor..
But yeah, really really loved it.

‘Chuck me’, Casey is awesome (no pun intended)

  16. C’mon Kel, at LEAST throw a spoiler alert in there. For cryin’ out loud!!!

  17. @Andy, calm down he didnt even say who “he” is.

  18. @Drew, your really complaining about that? Come on now.

  19. @Vic
The site is faster for me now, since you took out the Caprica backdrop. Thanks.

I haven’t watched the last episode of Heroes yet, so thanks everyone for the spoiler alerts.

I went on rottentomatoes.com and see that Wolvie is at 67% when it was at %100 yesterday. What a difference a day makes. Still looking forward to seeing it.

  20. @Oscar…

It was still a plot reveal. I’m just saying a little consideration for people who haven’t watched it yet would be nice.

  21. vic i enjoy looking at the number of members for your site. I think you should put the box back up that shows the members for the site.

  22. @John

There aren’t nearly enough reviews up at RT to get a real idea of the consensus. You need at the minimum 30 and ideally more than 50 before getting a sense for it.

    @hud

Thanks, like I said I’m experimenting – I will probably be adding a few things back here and there, but actually I think I’d prefer a Facebook members list to the Google list. However that requires some custom programming.

    Vic

  23. Heroes finale was disappointing just like every other finale in the whole series including season 1. Why didn’t Claire use her blood to save Nathan? Because the show is stupid and conveniently twists characters and forgets powers when it gets in the way of whatever plot point they’re trying to get to. I give credit to Heroes for being able to come up with these cliffhangers but the show has failed time and time again to reach these plot points with any sort of consistent logic. It’s a surprise but in a bad “wtf?” kind of way and not in a wow I never thought of that but it makes sense.

Chuck finale on the other hand was amazing. The show has some inconsistencies but in general it keeps the overall continuity intact. They will need to be careful with “Neo-Chuck” to keep him from being too all powerful…otherwise he’ll suffer from the Peter syndrome in Heroes (ie make the character become incredibly stupid when it serves the plot).

In Chuck’s case I can easily see a limit. Sure he might know kung fu now but that doesn’t mean Chuck has say the same endurance as Casey or Sarah. That’s easily a limit where Chuck can only use said “acquired” abilities for a short time before he gets tired or burned out.

We’ve already seen hints that the intersect has taken its toll on Chuck’s dad so no reason to believe it won’t have some adverse limiting effects on Chuck with this new upgraded 2.0 version.

  24. Hey Vic;

I’ve noticed an improvement when using my browser’s back button (it was getting pretty darned anoying.)
That is to say I like the changes and see them as an improvement.

  25. I thought last weeks episode of Smallville titled “Stiletto” was a terrific piece of television, and perhaps the seasons best episode. I really liked it. This show still has alot of juice left in it. Anyone else agree?

    chuck

  26. @vid

Good ideas you got there =)
    Good reading.

  27. @JustDavid

What’s the difference on the back button? I didn’t think I did anything to affect that…

    Vic

  28. Everytime you pressed the back button it wouldnt go back until you pressed it again.

  29. That seemed to depend on how long you were, wherever you were. Sometimes i had to press the back button up to four times. So whatever you did vic….good job! that was annoying!
