Another week has gone by already, so it’s time for another open discussion post. Whatever you’d like to discuss related to movies or TV.
And hey, Iron Man is just over a week away! I know there’s been less coverage of it on the site lately, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited about it.
So… the floor is yours…

I give the Cloverfield dvd an A. The film really looks great and its really great to be able to skip past that party in the beginning.
^
Wow only one more week+ for Iron Man.
I don’t know if its new but the traler I saw today was really cool. It ended with Iron Man taking out a tank with a wrist rocket.
Also noticed the mark 2 armor morphs like a transformer…
Interesting.
Movies up for a good remake?
Ok, which ones would you think would do good in the Hollywood laundry machine? You can use foreign movies too.
(remember we all respect the originals so, it can be a solute to the original or a new interpretation… Give your ideas and thoughts on some)
I vote for
• He-Man (think 300 and Lord of the Rings mixed with Star Wars “the Originals”)
• French Connection (blasphemy? know the original is great)
• Gremlins (meaner and cuter?)
• Explorers
• Outland
• COMA (?)
• The Witches of Eastwick
Ok I’m running out of ideas….
And it’s just for fun, try to picture new versions or remakes. How would they look like, how would YOU want them to be?
Hey 790!
I liked Cloverfield too. I wasn’t thinking that I would, but then it was better than I had expected.
As for Iron Man… well… what can I say? I’M SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!
Oooh, next month will cost me a bundle in Cinema Tickets. Indy 4, Iron Man, and there was something else coming soon. X-Files, Batman, Hell Boy II.. aarrgh expensive summer ahead…
But I’m smiling!

And yes, I’ll wear a dorky T-Shirt for the premier for Iron man. I don’t know which one yet… I’ll find something.
I might even take a photo of my self and then you’ll see me.
A little reminder, Stephen?
Here he comes, here comes _______ _______
He’s a demon on wheels
Stephen good idea to get this rolling along.
I was thinking it would be great to see an update of the John Carpenter film “they live”.
Also “The Philadelphia experiment”.
I also have to ask why BBC havnt gone into full production on a Doctor Who film franchise. What are they waiting for?? That moneys gone allready. Dorks.
I’m gonna wear a headlight on my chest.
Go speed racer, go !!
FWIW, Imdb added several (about a dozen) new Iron Man pictures yesterday. Mainly character shots but a couple of Stark — suiting up the Mark I with Yinsen’s help — and the Mark III, following… I’m guessing a fight with an even bigger suit of armor.
You’ll get busted Jimmy for pirating.
I dont have a car.
I am strictly a bus man .
as of last week,
two of my regular stops now have Iron Man posters with old ShellHead in all his Mach III goodness.
I just thought I would share that!
Speed Racer is the last Cylon!
I’m really looking forward to Iron Man. I’m actually off from work the day it comes out, so I might be able to do a midnight screening!!
On another topic, how many people here use Netflix? I just subscribed this month and so far I love it. There is a processing site close by, so I get my movies within a couple of days after I mail the old one out. Tomorrow night I will be watching “Balls of Fury.” This is going to be great in the summer when most of the shows on TV are repeats!!
The early reviews are allready coming in and Iron Man is a hit!!!! A+ , 5 Star, two thumbs up?
Btw I don’t use netflix. I usually buy the dvds I want. Eventually ANY movie is priced at 4.99.
And I sometimes buy dvds and don’t watch them for months. So netflix dosnt work for me.
Also I’ve seen some of my friends copys of dvds from netflix and the majority of them are scratched.
790,
The Philadelphia Experiment (high budget) remake would be a really great idea. Good one!
They Live is such a cool Carpenter film! I love that one. As a matter of fact it would work very well today. Good idea. Can I throw in The Thing as well? Though I love the original so much, I’d rather see a sequel, written and DIRECTED by John Carpenter!
Oh and Jimmy the C… I’m sorry man, I’m really slow today… I’m writing my script and I have to hand in my first draft tomorrow morning which happens to be in about 3 hours… :/
So I’ve been burning the midnight oil like there’s no tomorrow…
well… almost… I’ve been doing some work out in the field of procrastination just to make sure I’ve had my daily dose of training… (can’t believe a Dog can skateboard and I can’t… thanks YouTube for enlightening me… now I know… dogs can skate and I can’t…)
;p
Hey Stephen do you work for any studios or are you in school?
The Thing, I felt like Terminator 2 can never be redone or remade. Its too perfect.
But “they live” would really be timly.. To say the least.
Same with TPE.
790,
I do work for a studio, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you which…
You are right The Thing is really amazing… I love that movie… feel like watching it again…
I’m still confused by all the versions of Kirk in the new Star Trek… anyone else notices just how many Kirks they’ve hired?
Still, I can’t wait to see what they do with it…
If I may ask……?
Do you live in LA Stephen or NY?
Also
What do you mean so many kirks?
You know another good remake would be “Dark Star”. That’s one of Carpenters first films.
Very funny sci_fi film about a crew of redneck astronauts that blow up planets for a planet blowing up company.
Just brillaint stuff.
They should do it in the same style as the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy film.
790,
I’m currently in the UK. I wasn’t but now I’m here.. and the weather is starting to clear up… which helps a lot.. I’m a summer person.
But I’m not British,
Anyway to your question,
There are so many Kirks in the new Trek movie I’m confused over how many of them will be on the screen at any given time.
Look at the cast :
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796366/
Your in the Uk. And you have no opinion on Doc Who?
Well from what I’ve heard there’s going to be baby kirk, teen age kirk and pre Shatner kirk.
I’m not sure what you mean by so many Kirks, Stephen. I looked at the link you provided and I see James Kirk and the younger version of Kirk. The other Kirks are family members, I believe…
Andy that’s a lot of Kirks…
Don’t worry it’s not a big deal, I’m just wondering how they can give so much screen time for all those characters. I guess a family setting maybe?
We’ll see…
Anyway, any opinion about Dr. Who? Hmm…
The idea is good, they could most certainly go places with that story, but then, I’m not a fan of it. I see it’s everywhere here… they’ve even made some spin offs, but still… I guess I’m more of a Farscape, Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5 kind of a guy…

Hey Stephan I love Farscape and Babylon 5.
BSG is good but the theme lacks a spiritual base. IMO.
But the story and vfx are great.
I understand if you have to bail Stephen. Get some rest bro.
One more thing I’ll say about the Cloverfield dvd. You get the Star Trek and Indy Trailers!!
YOU GET WHAT? !!!
I’m buying the DVD tomorrow.. I mean today…

Yeah I’m not going to sleep today at all… then I have a meeting from 2 to 5 and before that I have a lecture to attend to which starts at 10… I’m so not up for this today…
I’m sure people will be asking them selves… “oooh he needs to get out more… he looks pale!”…
Meh, it happens when you don’t get any sleep…
Nice talking to ya 790!
Yeah the trailers look awesome!!! And you get them in 5.1. Surround with pause capabilities.
You know sometimes I have had my best days on the job with a hangover. .=-/
So rock on! Stephen!!!
I look forward to talking to you on the Rant!!!!
The 90…..
I love They Live and while a remake would interest me, I’m not sure. It was very aimed at that era, the rich getting richer, which I know always happens but…
I don’t know. When a director does something for a time and place, I’m never sure about taking it from then. Also, you have to do the fight seen the same way, not two stars hamming it up, and we need those lines in, because I’m all out of bubblegum!
I do think Carpenter does movies that have his style and mood, but not always hit the mark. The Prince of Darkness movie is one of those, I like that alot but could do with work, and hey, remake Ghosts of Mars already. Help us forget the first one.
Oh, and as for Doctor Who, can’t see a movie being made. It seems to be in a state of flux at the moment, with Davies seeming to be moving on, and maybe Tennant too, and they’re taking a break next year, which they need. I doubt the BBC have the money anyway.
Oh yeah, certainly no gremlins remake either! A third movie, yes, but leave Gizmo alone!
790: “BSG is good but the theme lacks a spiritual base. IMO.” Eh?
You mean besides the humans believing in multiple gods and the Cylon believing in one true god??
Your statement confuses me.. 1/2 the premise of the Cylons is about the love of one true god.
I guess they haven’t really delved into the the humans’ beliefs much at all while we’ve been buried in Cylon belief… I wonder if that’s a clue?
But is that what you’re referring to 790?
Vic
Anyone check out “Forbidden Kingdom”? I saw it last weekend and give it 3.5 out of 5. I thought the fight scenes were very good but they used too many wire stunts.
I agree that He-Man needs to be made. But it needs to be made on a grand scale, not a Dolph Lundgren comes to earth scale. How can you tell a He-Man story set mainly on earth? So disappointing that movie was.
Currently I am really excited to hear another on of my favorite kids cartoons, Thundercats is truly on the way. I had a friend ask me “what if they screw it up?”
I asked him “How could they screw it up? How is that even possible? If you watch the shows, they are lame. Sure, they were fun for us as kids, but just like He-Man, Gi Joe and Transformers it was a big buildup where the main characters took passing swipes at each other, nobody died, and nobody got hurt. Mumm-ra always ran back to his coffin in time and the Thundercats assumed all was well and he was defeated.”
I want to see Skeletor and He-man get into a fight that makes us gasp. I want Mumm-ra to draw blood. I want to see the sword of omens go off on Mumm-ra. I want to see Cheetara without her unitard……ok thats a little far.
I want action. I dont care about storyline. Thats why I loved Transformers. If you were mad that there was no plot, then you went to see the wrong movie. Its friggin chameleon robots from outer space, it doesnt get cornier than that. And even so, I thought the storyline was much more passable than anything ever dreamed up in the cartoons.
End of rant. For now
WILL SPIDER-MAN EVER RETURN TO TOTAL MARVEL CONTROL LIKE HULK?
I THINK THAT AN AVENGERS MOVIE WOULD BE A MASSIVE HIT BUT ONLY IF SPIDEY MAKES AN APPEARANCE TOO.
IF IRON-MAN’S MOVIE IS GOING A HUGE HIT,FIRING HIM UP THERE WITH MARVELS BIGGEST HULK AND SPIDEY, IT WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE THEM ALL APPEAR TOGETHER.
BIGGER THAN STAR WARS I’M TELLING YOU!!
Well said Kyle23!
Bruce, wouldn’t it make more sense if Racer X is a Cylon? That way Speed can be REALLY REALLY surprised at the big reveal.
Sorry Bruce, I don’t know what I was talking about….
Yeah your right. I have only seen a handfull of episodes of BSG.
:-/
Kyle23, I saw Transformers for fun and action. A plot would have been nice! But the action sequences failed. The fights were a blur of color and movement. This was most noticeable in the city battle, where I couldn’t tell one character from another, in the tangle of chrome.
Jimmy, EXACTLY! That was my problem with the action scenes as well.
Vic
Just bought my tickets for Iron Man. It’s opening on the 30th out here, and I’m going for a night screening with my girlfriend. Can’t wait for it!
“The Philadelphia Experiment” was a cool time-travel movie and it ended up influencing people like Al Bielek who claimed that the movie “awakened” memories of the real Philadelphia Experiment in them. Perhaps the remake can hinge on the claims of conspiracy theorists (and how it ties together with Montauk and Nikola Tesla and whatever) because that stuff is more entertaining than what’s in the movie.
Speak of time travel movies, perhaps there should also be a movie about John Titor, but it would feel too much like Terminator mixed with Back To The Future.
Did anyone watch “The Golden Compass”? I saw it on my flight back east from AZ and I have to say that it wasn’t bad. I actually enjoyed watching it. Pretty good story, some good SFX and the acting was decent. I’m actually hoping they make the sequel. I usually despise Nicole Kidman, but she was damn good in this film. She makes a good evil character, LOL….
Thanks for the info on Netflix, Vic. It’s good to hear positive feedback on them.
Jimmy the C: Hmm.. Racer X… yea, OK, maybe so.
790: Whew! For a second I thought I was having a senior moment having missed something..
But it’s ok, welcome to the shrinks couch on Screen Rant..
Jimmy the C, VIC: Yep.
The fight scenes were incredibly intricately designed CGI affects and if you slow them down to 1/2 to 1/3 speed, MAYBE you can follow them..
Too many moving parts on everyone to the point of confusion - I agree with that.. you had to wait until someone fell or was thrown across the street to figure out the point count in the match!!
Whoop, sorry - old hobby “kicking” in.
Ahh Jae Senn your so right on about the Philadelphia Expriment!!
And John Titor too.
You must listen to George Noory….. Al Beliks story was amazing.
I don’t know if you had time last night but the guest spoke about the Philadelphia Expriment causing a rip in spacetime and its never been closed up. He thoerised that its possible dimensional beings could be using it as a gateway.
I was hoping someone would bring this up.
Allthough I don’t think a lot of folks know who John Titor is.
Never touch Carpenter… his movies are fantastic - even the “lesser efforts”
Oh and Stephen - Welcome to the UK!
get used to the weather - it’s like this all the time.
Niall
Jimmy, I see what you are saying about the city fights. That was quite confusing. Bonecrusher and Optimus going atit on the highway blew me away though, I loved it
There was word of a Voltron movie, wasnt there? If done right, that could be another one I would love. However it would be tough for the director to seperate it from the blatant ripoff Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the eyes of the general public
The freaky thing about the Power Rangers, I watched them for a few years before they even became a U.S. television commodity. (I like the big monsters) IT was nice to finally understand the corny dialog once it was americanized.
I just found their releasing Iron Man on May 1 at 8 o clock.
Hey Kyyle23 I’m pretty sure that there going to do a “Robotech” film and I believe Toby Mcguire is going to star.
Oh wow, all those looking forward to the next Hellboy comin out in July. I didn’t notice this before, but Johann Krauss is being played by Mr. Family guy himself Seth Mcfarlane. Thoughts? I think it will work out perfectly.
Yeah Bruce, i just found out about Iron Mans 8pm premiere on the first too.
i wonder how the screenings will do?
Sounds like theyy want to pad the grosses a bit.
Vic
790,
Yeah man, those stories on Coast-to-Coast are really interesting, much better than most science-fiction stories! There’s that story about the alien ghosts of Roswell.. about Montauk.. about Philadelphia Experiment.. Heck, there’s plenty of material from that program that can be used in a good science fiction film. If they were to make Al Bielek’s version of the Philadelphia Experiment, it won’t even be a remake, it’ll be an original story on its own!
Right on Jae Senn! So cool to meet someone who’s heard of that show.
There’s a ton of material for films.
If you recall “The Day After Tomarrow” was concieved by Art Bell the original host. (Not that I thought it was any good it was crap, but anyway).
Btw
I think Bieleks story was true.
Did you ever hear the second tale of Mel’s hole? (No joke). That one was amazing!
THANKS guys for the heads up! I ordered tickets a few hours ago.
Jimmy arnt you going to wait for Vic to review this film???
It might be a 4.5 star rating?
Lol
Vic are you going to any early screenings????
IRON MAN
REVIEW
Jimmy the C
“Riveting!”
(Whaaa Whaa Whaaaaaaaa)
Jimmy you should copyrite that before Richard Roeper rips you off.
Guarantee that phrase will be ripped off.
Even though there are no rivits.
We all heard it here first!!!
Vic
How will you contain yourself Vic.
(Going out on a limb)
I’m predicting the first 6 star rating.
Vic
Well Vic I’m looking forward to your review.
It will be interesting. (Since you know a lot about the comic storyline I hope you include some comments on how the film is different or better?).
(Iron Man traler)
Also I saw something I hadn’t seen before tonight. He’s testing the boots and he goes flying backwards into the wall of his lab. It looked real funny.
Also how the faceplate folds up closed is real cool looking.
Hey guys….and gals.
I have to say after watching the Cloverfield dvd (muiltiple times) I’m really more impressed with the film.
The shakey camera isn’t half as traumatic as it was in the theater.
And the party scene is way more complelling. Since I know the outcome, for some strange reason I’m more into what there doing in those scenes.
(I didn’t see that many slusho shirts, like there was reported).
Hud really steals the show in those scenes as he turns into a TMZ clone… Telling everyone about his friend having sex. (Funnier the second time).
And I really was surprised how many different songs were playing in the background. (They all suck btw).
The background is really distracting as I saw a lot of other people with video cameras not just one on the bridge.
I found myself on a second viewing pausing the movie and seeing all kinds of hidden stuff. Not to mention getting great shots of the beast and its children. Aahhhh gross.
The dvd looks incredibly clean like the film was mastered in high def.
And you realise when watching the film with headphones that its sounds so clean that it almost takes you out of the film. I think adding a few more realistic sound effects of the wind and swooshing sounds while huds running would have made it perfect.
There were sounds like that but they were mostly just muted when something big happend. Allmost like the camera had a sound governer on.
Anyway really highly reccomend the Cloverfield Dvd, Its really the best way to see this film. (IMO).
And don’t forget to watch the last 6 seconds very carefully.
=-o / 790
Sorry, guys, but too bad JLA is dead.
We have ZERO chance now of seeing Flash (any version), Green Lantern (also any version), or Wonder Woman on the big within the next 3 years.
We’ll be lucky if we get Superman by 2011.
Forget about a Superman/Batman teamup movie.
Vic, could we get something like yes, no, maybe, instead of a full review on Wednesday?
Kel, I thought they were working on Superman: Man of Steel?
John, if Vic’s posts are all slurry and unintelligible I’m going to go out on a limb and say he had a good time at the movie.. we can’t ask him to break the rules.. it’s just not fair…
With that said, ..
Iron Man is playing at 8pm on Thursday May 1st in Germantown, MD.
Bruce Simmons,
Yeah, I know. I want to see IM on Thursday but the last 2 times I did this (Spiderman 3, X-Men 3), I was disappointed. Vic is the man and I would never want him to get into trouble. If he left, who would we pick on? :o)
I’m sure Vic will give us a small clue.
+ what are the odds that Iron Man will suck. Pretty low….
John are you going to go thurday night? I’m going to hopefully go friday daytime.
If there’s a line where I go in the daytime I’ll let SR readers now. If that’s the case the film will be huge cause I havnt seen a line for any new film at this theater in years.
It will be a good box office barometer.
Blade vs the IRS.
Wesley Snipes was sentenced to spend 36 months in prison today for not paying taxes for 3 years.
Looks like he’s gonna have to do the time.
bs!!
Vic
Yeah Vic, this open forum is great for carrying on with current Screen Rant topics.
One thing I will say about the upcoming Hulk trailer, they really should consider the BO impact of showing a brief glimpse of Iron Man’s cameo.
I think it will add a lot of money to Hulks opening weekend.
Let’s face it,outside the web nobody has any idea about the strong rumor that Iron Man makes a cameo in Hulk.
I will be imposing a last-minute moratorium on All Things Iron (incl. SR) after Tuesday night, until Thursday night. Sorry, Vic, I don’t trust you or any of us here to wear a Poker Face and play Vow of Silence after seeing this thing!
I’ll tune in afterwards & read every entry! Like I did after seeing Cloverfield.
this just popped into my head at work the other day….so here it is.
I would like to see a remake of Johnny Pneumonic.
I’d like to see a version that is a lot more faithful to the source material.
Its such a cool story.
Am I alone on this ?
So much stuff is getting ” re-imagined ” , why not a
re-imagined J P ?
790, why should Snipes be any different than anyone else? If YOU owed $17 million in taxes and didn’t pay, don’t you think you’d go to jail too??
Snipes got what he deserved.
My client will not answer questions about his personal tax liabilities.
Oh my.. he’s got multiple personalities! Just great!! Now we’ll never know who we’re talking with!
Andy they gave him the max sentance. The judge even said they were doing it to set an example. Wtf? Yeah that will stop um.
I hate when judges set examples on people when its there first offense.
They also fined him 5 mill.
So they got some money.
Give me a break. + how does it benifit anyone having Snipes in Jail were he can’t make any future taxable money.
Sure he was breaking the law but nobody was hurt by the crime.
I’ve heard of murders, rapests and molesters getting less time.
I also have a lot of problems with the way (personal imcome)taxes are collected. There’s some questionable writting that says there is NO LAW that inforces this yet everytime its challenged in court the judge sides on the side of the federal gov.
Not that I condone his crime but its (imo) not really a fair outcome.
Note: I said it was in my opinion.
Bruce my attoney jumped the gun.
Jimmy is that u. ????
That was a good 1
Just curious everybody,
If YOU could write the Iron Man sequel
what would the story be?
Feel free to be as detailed as possible.
Oh that’s a good question Gary!!!
Gotta have the Steath suit in it!!!
Maybe the Guardsmen.
Maybe Jocasta.
Maybe Mandarin.. but I hated him!
Spymaster.
Oh my god… so many options, so little web page!
790,
i bought Andy Mangels Iron Man: Beneath The Armor book and the armor gallery doesnt feature the Stealth armor !
But it does have the Underwater and Space armors.
Go figure!
I love all those ideas Bruce!
Especially Spymaster,
It fits with the James Bond feel they are going for.
Gary there’s a new book out that I saw at the Grand Slam and it shows all the suits Iron Man had. (Even the Steath). It was kind of a grey/blue and had steath fighter atributes.
I knew I should have got that.
Hmm, without going to Wikipedia or something, I can’t remember too many Iron Man foes. Yeah, Mandarin. But then…Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man. But I only remember them because of Paul McCartney’s song.
Wait a minute Gary did you say Iron Man,underwater and space armors.
Vic you never mentioned this. Wow I had no idea,….
This sequel could go anywhere.
Awesome!!!!
^
Also Bruce I plan on attending the 2008 San Diego Comic Con. Anyone can meet me,790 at the Con and I hope to meet a lot of Ranters. At that point I will tell you my name.
But online, well I just piss too many people off so use a (LEXX)-pen-name.
Also
Everyone,,,,, watch out I got representation,,!! 790’s Attorney is out there.
;-).
Have a great weekend everyone on this thread. !!!!
You can find the complete history of the character, all his villains, every armor he’s ever worn, etc.
Vic
Less then one week to go and I still havent read
The Iron Man novelization by Peter David .
Ironically ,I carry it with me EVERYWHERE!
I think the constant temptation makes it easier to resist.
I enjoy Peter David’s work.
I enjoy Davids work too,
i am just going to wait until next Saturday evening to sample the novelization.
After I have seen the film.
Allways better to read the book after you’ve seen the movie.
Film adaptation novels usually include what we would call deleated material.
And expand the overall experience.
saw` Ebert annd Roeper
Roeper and his guest critic Michael Phillips both liked the film. they wondered if younger kids would like it since it isnt all out action and it takes awhile for Iron Man to show up but they really liked it .they said RDJ was a good fit for tony stark and he had very good chemistry with Gwyneth Paltrow .
her best role in years , they said.
they also praised Bridges .
they said the ending was a bit of a letdown partly because the identity of the villain was obvious .
but they said it had the makings of a successful franchise.
Sounds good Gary!
I can’t believe were only a few days away.
I guess this is the best place to post this. rottentomatoes.com has Iron Man reviewed. If you want to see what they said, keep reading:
Last chance….
Ok, here it is.
rottentomatoes.com has Iron Man at 90%, as of 4/28/2008 at 1:45 pm EST. The one bad post said it was “light on CGI and emotional quandries”. The other good reviews were saying that the cast was very good but the ending was a bit of a letdown.
Oh drat!! I thought just hitting a lot would make the text go down. Sorry to anyone who read it and didn’t want to.
Iron Man at 90% sounds good enough for me!!!
Light on CGI?
Gotta be kidding.
Must be real good CGI and the reviewer didn’t notice the difference.
Anyway there are only 10 reviews in so far and that’s not really enough to draw any conclusions. You need at least 30 of them before the score really means anything, but I’m sure many reviewers have been instructed to hold their reviews for a few more days.
Tomorrow!!!!
Vic
Lookin’ forward to that review, Vic.
It’s the only one that matters to me. haha.
I understand the CGI thing.
When I first saw Titanic (the newest one) I totally overlooked the majority of the scenes with water and sky shots.. not realizing they were cgi. And that was bad, because it was the company I worked at that created the software that created the water simulation scenes!
So if it’s done well enough, I can see how someone overlooks that tiny aspect. (Yea, that was a bad on me.. egads.)
Yeah Bruce that’s great because that means the Vfx are totally convincing!!!!
This is good news!
Talking about effects Bruce,
I finished watching all the bonus features on the Cloverfield dvd last night and did you realise that the Statue of Liberty head that landed in the street was totally CGI. Even when it came to rest there was nothing there but a big green screen. (I figured they would build a mock up).nope!
Also that entire street shot was all done at Paramount, Hollywood.
Can’t reccomend that dvd highly enough if you liked the film!!!
Yep, it’s amazing what simplest of things are cgi these days. And to think, some day our future generations will look back on these days as the good ol’ days and laugh at the computer technology.
Like we do now about cars, or airplanes.. etc., etc.
I saw the Get Smart trailer today with Harold & Kumar and I have to say it looked real bad.
Now I’m a huge Get Smart fan, I payed big bucks for the entire season on dvd, and I also love The Office tv show. But wow I think Steve Corell is in deep over his head on this one.
He looks the part but he’s not even trying to sound like Don Adams. Weather he thought he would do his own take on the character or not, the one liners fall flat when he does them.
Other than the initial laugh at the start there wasn’t one laugh during the trailer.
(And it is a comedy)
Really sucks I was hoping his would be huge. ;-(
790,
there are two trailers out there.
I thought the full length one is pretty good.
I don want an imitatation of adams,
I want a respectful homage to the show .
we shall see how it goes .
So Vic,
Going to take it easy Tonight?
Just stay home and watch American Idol?:)
Yeah Gary everything looked real cool but all the famous one-liners that Max used to repeat just don’t have the same impact on me…
Also
Nobody in the theater laughed at all?
I read that the test audiences didn’t like the first version and that they gave Dwanye Johnson (agent 23) more gags.
I’ll leave my overall thoughts in the new Open Discussion thread that I’ll start up tonight.
Vic
I can’t wait to read that, Vic.
Enjoy the film overall.
This is it!
Its all been coming to this moment.
And now its only a few hours away.
Let’s hope it lives up to the hype!
Cause if not Vic’s going to be very upset. And then he could change into Vic/Hulk and smash computer. Aaarrrahahhh!!
Open Discussion aaarrrhhhggg. Vic/Hulk smash cable/modem. Aaarrdgghh. No Disscusion. Aaaaarrrargggad
the simple question “Hey Vic how was Iron Man” could get you killed…
Let’s all say a prayer for Iron Man. And if the site goes dark tonight well all know why…
790,
I like your humor…. he he he he ha ha ha haha a aaahhh ah ahhhahaha haarrrrggghhgghh ggggggrrrrr hhhhhh (need water to keep on laughing… sip sip) A HA HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Have Fun Vic, I’ll be back when I’ve seen the movie I don’t want anyone spilling the beans and farting all over!
Same goes for all ya’ll who’s fortunate enough to see it now! I’m going to have to wait till this weekend…
tick.. tick… tick… we wait…
That reminds me, we need a decent “Re-imagining” of The Tick.

Bruce, the Patrick Warburton Tick was awesome. Gota get that on dvd if you don’t have it allready. :/
What you don’t like the Robocop eh Stephen?
First thing came to mind when I saw that picture was “Robocop looks like my new BlackBerry? ” All cromey and silver.
Bruce didn’t you write about this a few months back?
Actually Vic was writing a piece about Remakes and Sequels and he noted they should not do a Robocop.

And sadly, this is the era of remakes..
there is only ONE robocop!
For me, the original film was it.
