I think news has slowed quite a lot, post-strike and pre-possible actors strike. We saw a HUGE amount of news before the writers strike, because they were trying to get a ton of scripts in and greenlit to make movies.

If the actors strike doesn’t happen (let’s hope it doesn’t!), I think we’ll see an increase in news.

What do you all think?

Yeah, I didn’t know if it was just me being in a writer’s slump or what, but honestly I don’t see that much these days that gets me fired up enough to write an article. Of course all my movie bud site owners don’t seem to have writer’s block… but they cover a wider variety of movies than we do here IMO.

And… 30 DAYS TO IRON MAN!

Yeah Heath your right.
Its dead right now in TinselTown as far as buzz goes.
(Speed Racer, Iron Man and Indy4) are the only cool things coming up.

The new prosuction
is all in reality tv.

All the good TvShows are all filming there ass’s off so they can get shows back on asafp. (Let’s green light knight rider weee). Wgaf? something tells me they were going to anyway.

alot of this slow movement in production is because the availability in crews and also there’s a huge wake in development in this post WGA/ressesion USA we live in.

Its tough when alot of people had to move out of LA because of the WGA Strike. But that’s what happened.

This country is in deep shat right now.
(IMO).

I’m actually wondering how much movie coverage they’re going to have at Comic-Con this year that I’ve decided to really cover it in-depth. :-\

Hey Vic its great that your back!
I deffinitly missed you last week.

On the Comic Con 08 I think the buzz at that time will be very positive.

I think were in the middle of a lull period that will end in a few weeks. At the least Iron-Man is sure going to cheer alot of people up!

Hey, thanks for the welcome back. :-)
I’ll hold you to those results! I’m just glad that Indy 4 doesn’t open for almost 3 weeks after Iron Man… gives Shellhead some time to make it’s money.

The timing for Iron Man couldn’t be better. The photos and trailers are incredible…..

This (ironman) film is going to be EPIC!!!!

Glad your back Vicster and I think Open Discussion is a fine title.

I didn’t think Iron Man would get this much hype, I kinda thought it would be like just another super hero movie in terms of peoples reaction. Sure its like a dream an Iron Man movie finally coming, but I just figured it would get received like perhaps Ghost Rider was.

Iron Man is a great example of translation from newsprint to film. Visually appealing and funny. Even my wife wants to see it.

I’m new to this site, but the look and commentary from contributors is pretty cool. Keep up the good work!

As much as I dislike the Iron Man character, I really hope this movie does well, for two reasons:

1) Marvel are riding on this, and I want Thor, Deadpool and Avengers movies to happen!
2) it looks freekin’ sweet!

But as far as news goes, i check gaming site news and gadget news and there doesn’t seem to be much going on in general, sadly.

It does seem that news is kinda slow, lately. I think with the great films lined up for the summer that we’ll start to see more news start to trickle in soon. We’ve still heard almost nothing about the new Hulk film and things are pretty secretive about The X-Files too. I’m wondering if the studios are PURPOSELY holding back on news to spur interest on the films or to avoid trampling on the big May releases? If you think about it, we’ve barely heard anything new about The Dark Knight, either….

I would love a Deadpool movie more than anything, but let me ask you this Kieran. Do you want Ryan Reynolds to be the lead, because thats the rumor thats been floating around. Well its more than a rumor seeing as how he specifically said he wants to play Deadpool.

I know this really isn’t relevant to up and coming or future film news, but I had to watch the film There Will Be Blood recently. My teacher comments on how the acting is incredible, which I do agree with, but he doesn’t comment on how the movie is suppose to be great in any other way and he loves this film. It seems to me that folks everywhere seem to love this movie, but I see it to be lacking in everything from direction of photography down to the work of the best boy, except for the acting. I was just curious what other film fanatics thought of this movie.

I haven’t seen “Blood” yet, but I do have a copy of the DVD. I should post up a review once I watch it.

I was honestly dissapointed with “There Will Be Blood.” The acting was great and it was a good story, but it was drawn out way too long. I just felt the story did not need 3 hours to tell.

I just recently watched “Shoot ‘em Up” and, although it was a movie you REALLY had to suspend disbelief for, I really enjoyed it. The action was non-stop, literally. I don’t think the movie paused to take a breath except to insert a sarcastic comment. Yeah, there was quite a bit of CGI, but I have to say that this movie was ALOT of fun to watch. Plus Monica Bellucci was HOTTTTTT!!!

I’m gonna have to check that out Andy. Vic gave it a pretty good review and said Paul Giamatti was halarious.

I just recently watched “Hitman” and it was pretty good the plot was COMPLETLY ripped off from the Transporter but still I like Timothy Olyphant and will see anything he’s in.(On dvd),,”Even Die hard 4″.
The actress was smoking hot (unrated version) but she played a real dumb girl.

Overall it wasn’t a comlete waste of my money.

Ah yes, “Shoot ‘em Up.” A very misunderstood film IMHO.

Don’t go in looking for a serious action flick, sit down to view it and in your mind imagine what a Bugs Bunny cartoon would look like if it was rated R and shot (no pun) in live action with people instead of animal characters.

Then, you’ll enjoy it. :-)

You know Vic, an R-rated live action Bugs Bunny cartoon is a VERY good description. Maybe that is why I enjoyed it so much. LOL.

Just watched Big Arnies first Conan movie on tv the other night so it got me to thinking; is there any news on a revamp for the big screen?
It would be great if Arnie could get involved in someway.
Do you think Marvel would/could have any part in helping it get off the ground.
Conan is a smashing movie so it would be interesting to see how a new one would look with new modern effects.

In response to the Deadpool movie…a live Deadpool movie where he could do everything from break the fourth wall to his fantasizing over Bea Arthur would be one of the best moments of my life. But the delivery of Deadpool would be hard to capture, I can’t even think of a voice that would be good for him. He’s so awesome and hilarious, but I don’t know how it could translate from comic to screen. I’d rather just hug the Deadpool comics I have and hold on to them than have it ruined or have everyone tell me I’m stupid when I say I read Deadpool.
