I like the new Sherlock Holmes trailer but is Robert Downey Jr. anyone’s idea of an action hero. The actor playing Moriarty is well cast, did he play the same role in Young Sherlock Holmes.

Now that you saw terminator salvation already… do you think its going to beat out tf2 at the box office? And do you think your going to like tf2 more then terminator salvation?

please be as blunt as possible vic… i’d rather hear it like that then you holding back.

jago says:

also… for about a year now on imdb i’ve seen that Tyrese gibson is set to play luke cage… so what i want to know is who has the rights to luke cage?

Daniel F says:

I’m surprised that the Terminator review isn’t up yet. I thought you would have put it on here a lot sooner.

Jago I doubt Vic will think that TF will be better than Terminator. If I remember correctly Vic wasn’t a fan at all of the last transformers. I agree to it was an awful awful movie. Great SFX and a really hot Megan fox other than that the film was terrible. Salvation actually looks good and most people think it’s at least decent. TF2 looks like a copy and past of the last one.

Mandarr says:

@ Daniel F
I totally agree with ya’ on the Transformers stuff. I gave the first movie a chance, but was pretty dissapointed and seriously bored with it. The trailer for the new Terminator has even dissapointed me seeing another giant robot like the Transformers stuff. And now I see it’s PG 13 as well. Argh!

I’d like to know if CBS is going to finish showing the rest of Harper’s Island now that I’ve seen the first 6 episodes even after they moved it to Saturday nights. They didn’t even show it last week and although it’s listed for this weekend and next on their website. I wouldn’t put it past them to just stop showing the rest of the episodes. I’ve seen networks do that before with different shows. It’s like watching the Soprano’s for a long time and then just having the show fade to black all of a sudden. Oh wait…
They could at least air the rest of the episodes online so we know who the killer was. I think it’s “Mr. Smiley”, aka. Henry lol.

Phil says:

Boy, I have to say that this site is the no. 1 place on the internet as far as drinking the haterade when it comes to the Transformers movie!

It wasn’t THAT bad, guys. I know people, even some girls, who liked it who weren’t Transformers fans before and who started wanting to know more. Maybe not everybody is a film critic, but it was solid summer entertainment.

Robert Downey Jr. is a good actor, so he makes a fine action star as we saw in Iron Man. The only problem I have with the Sherlock movie is that he doesn’t look anything like the description of the iconic character of the books. They’re trying to modernize Sherlock but I don’t like the concept basically.

I’m seeing Terminator Salvation this weekend, can’t wait.

@Phil – Look up my review, you might be surprised at the rating I gave the first Transformers. I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t like certain aspects of it. I thought it was HALF of a great movie.

@Jago – Transformers 2 is going OWN Terminator at the box office.

VIc,
I would say even if Terminator Salvation was a supergreat film,
with over a month between them I would easily pick Transformers to beat Terminator Salvation.

Will there be rewiews of the final episodes of lost and the last smallville episode on screenrant?

SK-47 says:

I read a post on imdb on actors who turned down roles in the Expendables. Van Damme didn’t want to do it, Danny asked for more money, and then there is Kurt Russell who says he doesn’t do ensemble pics. Then there is Forest Whittaker which the post lists as scheduling conflicts, I hope it is not for that new Jekyl & Hyde film, but whatever. So many people turned down roles for Sly’s newest film.
Its funny cause these guys can turn it down whereas on You Tube I found this audition video by this actor who so desperately wants to be in the film:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Od4sFlyECw

Just find it funny and sad in a way. This guy seems so passionate about being in the film, well he has my vote. You guys should check it out, he’s really not that bad.
Vic, I think you might get a kick out of it he does a monologue in that old 1930 Gangster movie style! Way I see it, why not show support to someone who has the passion for this property than someone who can just pass it up because they didn’t feel like it.

Matt K says:

I can’t wait for “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen”…..I loved the first despite its flaws(everyone thats heard me on the articles knows what I hated most of all about the first film), and if its true that the second is exactly like the first then fine….besides its Michael Bay hes all about action.

And I think TF2 will be the box office champ of the summer.

Matt K says:

Daniel F,

I remember you saying that Arnold is one of the worst actors and thought you might like this vidoe.

steven the git says:

Not sure who Moriarty is in the new movie, but doubt it is the bloke from Young Holmes. He’d be getting on a bit by now.

Not a Ritchie fan and was sceptical about Downey as Holmes, and especially Law as Watson, but the trailer does actually look pretty good. And Holmes was a detective who could really handle himself, plus he had an addictive personality, on drugs when not solving cases. So I quite like what I’ve seen so far. I feared Lock, Stock and Holmes, but seems Ritchie has reined himself in a bit.

Stephen says:

Vic, can you please post your review for Terminator Salvation today, please?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Daniel F says:

Yea I can’t stand Bay or his over the top action with out story. They guy has down some of the biggest no story movies ever. Transformers was all about the CGI. It’s sad because there were some good actors in that film and amazing action, but the plot was terrible there was very littel character development and it was about as deep as a plate.

Daniel F says:

I kind of enjoyed that video. IT had some funny moments.

Richard says:

I think Marvel had a pretty good investment in Downey as an action star lol.

Also Vic, why do you say TF2 will own Terminator? I hope its not because you didn’t like it, because then I’ll be pissed, Salvation is supposed to be my favorite summer movie dammit!

Daniel F says:

Vic said TF2 will own Terminator at the box office he didn’t say it would be a better film. The first one made a lot of money and the second one is bound to do the same. Terminator is sort of up in the air for what it can make I think it will be mid 200m which is good, but not the same as the last TF movie.

My Terminator Salvation review will be up at midnight EST tonight.

If you’re a Sherlock Holmes fan and can’t wait for the movie then check out http://www.wbqonline.com/feature.do?featureid=317 where there’s an entire story from the brand new Complete Sherlock Holmes audiobook to download.

steven the git says:

V looks good. Just hope it isn’t all look and no substance.
All looks a bit glossy and pretty, which worries me. I really enjoyed the more gritty look of the original, and especially the more complicated characters, like Michael Ironside’s mercenary.

Phil says:

@ Vic

Sorry for the delayed response. And you may be surprised that your review on Transformers was actually the reason why I came to this site in the first place, because as much as you seem to dislike it, you still gave it a fair rating.

So I actually trust your reviews more than most others.

Phil says:

Can anybody explain this one to me?

“Universal Pictures acquired the movie rights to The Wheel of Time in August 2008, and currently plan to adapt The Eye of the World as the first movie. The last four volumes in the series have reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and the 11 Wheel of Time novels published so far have sold more than 44 million copies worldwide.”

Robert Jordan wrote that series, and died before ever finishing it, yet they’re considering making movies?

Are they planning to tell their own version of the ending then? Yikes!

Gary says:

Vic ,are you going to to review Night att the Museum 2?
i am tempted to skip Terminator: Salvation and see that instead.
or at least first
I might see T4 on Memorial day.

I saw Night at the Museum 2 but haven’t had time to write up a review. I don’t know if I’ll get to it tonight… may have to wait until tomorrow to write it.

It was OK – more of a movie to bring the kids to. I got a few laughs out of it, but not many… maybe because I just don’t find Ben Stiller to be that funny. However Amy Adams dressed as Amelia Earhart in tight, clingy pants? Worth the price of admission right there, brutha. :-P

Vic

Ken J says:

@Vic

Hm, Amy Adams, tight pants… tickets preordered… :-D

Phil says:

Just as an update on my previous post (since I don’t know if I made anybody curious or not):

Apparently before dying, Jordan left his wife two shoeboxes of post-its explaining what the final book would entail and his widow hired a writer that’s a fan of series to finish the series off with the notes.

So I guess the movies make sense. If done well, these movies could be as good as the LoTR trilogy. Since they’re basically inspired by LoTR (some might even say that Jordan stole quite a few concepts).

790 says:

Anybody read the news that Touchstone Pictures has sent out a press release that said, “if they don’t see a significant increase in box office receipts they will not hesitate to produce a sequel to the 2000 film Coyote Ugly.” The studio is considering redirecting funds from 16 indie films into CU2.

O’wait I’m reading the Onion. Nevermind. ;-)
