I will say Ken is on to something with the free account and personal options thing. I love the site that allow that.
I’ve looked into creating profiles for users but the features that Ken mentioned might be a bit beyond what Wordpress is capable of. I can dig a little though – considering the community nature of SR I do want to move more in that direction if possible.

Yea this place does seem more personal than most and it would be a perfect fit. Probably to much work, but being able to do a semi custom look like letting people select new layout or Screen rant Classic. Private messeges and things like that would be cool. Maybe I’m leaning to much toward an actual forum with that.
The more individually personalized a site gets the more it looses its community feel (imo).
Well it wouldn’t be to that level, but as Ken mentioned, a user profile page where you would have what posts you’re tracking, comments, etc. would be cool. But I think that would require a big time/money investment on my part.

Yah, that’s why I said it was only a dream, not really expecting you to go through all of that extra work, it’s not like the current page is unusable or anything.

Apparently, Marvel Studios WILL handle the movie with Fox on distribution. And Deadpool, I don’t know if this is much of a spoiler, WILL have a mouth. Yay for Merc with a mouth.
You know Vic I use to run my own little small site and there use to be this free service that helped get all that profile, post tracking and PM thing going on. If you want I can see if I can find it again. It was a small little site, but I did go all out for it and found that it was pretty cool. If your interested it’s a free service or at least was.

Never mind it’s a forum thing only. It’s been years since I did it. Back in my City of Heroes days I went all out making this stupid Super Group website for the (their version of a) guild that I was running. Turns out it was a sort of thing where you have to register your site through them and they hook you up with an entire forum for free with minimal advertising and everything. Great for someone on a budget wanting to run a free little site, but not something as big or cool as screen rant. I will help out though see if I can find something to help get you set up in some way I’m fairly good at the mindlessly hunting things down on the internet till my brain explodes thing.

Though it’s been a few years and my site has been long since deleted. If that is the correct site though it’s really nice. The help you set a forum up on your site linked through them and they give you all the usual forum tools. I’ll make sure that was it, but you can check that one out as well.

Vic, not that I don’t want them, but the SR Picks, Movie Reviews, Trailers and Latest Headlines sections at Homepage seem now kind of mixed up. I mean, there is little space between them, and for me it doesn’t give a good looking for the site. Also, the five articles right at the beginning (about Star Trek, Angels & Demons, Smallville and others) with the big pics, are somewhat unneccesary now and requires much space. I do like changes and the right column and bottom parts are perfect.
Just some thoughts, so that you can make this the best way possible.

Again, a reminder that 80% of the people that visit Screen Rant every day are visiting us for the first time. The home page layout is a good way to give them an overview of what we have to offer, and THEY won’t know about the 5 featured items already.

I will say this Vic while I don’t really like the current main page at all and miss the old one I do love how much you try and work on this site. I figure you deserve a little appreciation for the hard work you put on this place. We may not agree on everything and we even bump heads from time to time, but I do have a lot of respect for you. I’ve always wanted to do a site like this sort of something I dreamed about and kind of inspiring to see someone else do it and be successful and still maintain their passion.
In a way we already have a “forum” because each article is a separate topic with following discussions, not unlike threads. So I don’t really see the need for one either.

Ooops, Ok, sorry, forgot that. But I still think it needs more space, though. I’ll be looking into other sites so that you can come up with new ideas. Just want to congratulate the great effort you are putting to the site, and it’s really nice to see our opinions counted.
So, changing a little of subject, were you surprised about the Thor casting Vic?
Maybe we should put our money where our mouths are? lol
As much as I hate paypal, they have a way for people to donate money to you just by clicking a button and entering their payment method and amount…
Really don’t have much opinion on the Thor casting. The only time I’ve ever seen the guy is in his brief role in the new Star Trek movie.
