  1. What’s happened here then?

  2. I just want to know if it has the same twists as the original movie.. can anybody answer this for me?

    • the twist is still the same but somethings have changed. instead of the brother its the father. but the differences is still interesting its just sharlto barely had any screen time, which kind of sucked cause i was looking forward more of him than brolins

      • So they kept the weird incest thing between the main character and his daughter?

        • yes, its still there.

    • The daughter and the father fell in love without them knowing they were relatives.

  3. The main difference is he doesn’t lock himself back up in the original.

  4. Hi there,
I am having a serious plot issue with Old Boy and hopefully someone here smarter than I am can help explain it to me:
In the beginning Joe Doucette has a 3 yr old daughter named Mia which he neglects. Later while imprisoned he learns of his wife’s death and Mia’s adoption. Fast forward 20 yrs Joe is released and meanwhile, using his semen and DNA, another (!) daughter was created which he ends up having sex with and so on. Ok, so far so good BUT: the original daughter Mia would have been 23 by now, what happened? Did the wife not die and the rape and adoption was all just fiction and if so: how come the other “Mia” (Olsen) was able to find online information about the murder? If Joe’s wife was not killed then where are she and her daughter? And if she was indeed killed than what happened to the real Mia, if she is still alive why did Joe not try to find her after the entire scheme was revealed to him?

    • Mia, the one he slept with, is the daughter that was three. The semen they collected was used to help frame him, not create another daughter.

    • The rape & murder was real…The show that interviewed the “adoptive parents” and “Mia” was fake done with actors. It is assumed that Mia was really adopted and raised as Maria, the girl that Joe met, and screwed, after his release. (Hence her tough childhood that was often brought up) There was no created daughter…His semen was used to frame him.

  5. At the end of the movie why did he place himself back in that hotel room

    • because he can’t bare to ever meet his daughter again, knowing he had sex with his own blood and used the diamond from the deal he made with the other guy and lock himself in the room forever

  6. I have never seen the original version, needles to say i really enjoyed this movie. It definitely deserves more praise if no-one has watched the original.Pretty twisted plot though
