Old School Look Continues With New Star Trek Poster

vegas con star trek post Old School Look Continues With New Star Trek PosterHere’s the latest poster for the J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek movie coming out in December ’08. It continues the look of previous posters pointing to an old school, TOS (that’s The Original Series for you non-trekkies) look for the movie.

I’m trying not to get too excited about this one since I’ve been burned by recent Star Trek outings both on the small and big screens over and over recently, but I’m hearing good things for the writers, producers and director Abrams regarding what they’re trying to accomplish with this new movie.

Time will tell as we hear more and more once production gets going on this one, but it seems like they really want to get this one right to make up for the fall from grace of the venerable franchise.

What I really can’t wait to see at this point are their designs for the ships… This is a BIG question. Will they stick to the clean exterior design of the original show or will the complicate the design/details as they did on Star Trek: Enterprise? Outside of who will be cast as Captain Kirk, this is what I’m really dying to know.

  1. I’ve got severe doubts about this movie. Given that it’s written by the same people who wrote Transformers, writers who’ve claimed to be fans of both franchises, I’m not sure this will be any better than Transformers.

  2. Oh crap, that’s right…

However I have heard that they’re taking a more “reverent” attitude towards Star Trek.

  3. Myself, I’d love to see a DS9 movie, but TPTB won’t fork out the cash for it, despite DS9 being kick ass.

  4. Although I enjoyed DS9 (except for the forgettable series finale) I think if they made a movie base on it, it would make about $5.
