According to Sci Fi Wire, an Alien vs. Predator sequel is being planned and it will apparently take place in a populated area as opposed to a remote location like Antarctica.

Thanks to overseas box office and DVD sales AVP turned a pretty penny so of course the studio is going back to the well. Although the first one pretty much stank, I can’t say I blame ‘em. A buck is a buck after all, and if folks are willing to shell out the cash for dreck…

P.T. Barnum would have been proud.

  1. Whatever… if Part Deux is a success, it won’t be because of any $$$ contribution from me. As I recall, this was released in August ’04, which tends to be a pretty slow month. There isn’t much else to see, so people decide to see the dreck. At least from that perspective, it’s misleading for the studio heads to say they’re only producing “what the people want.” Of course, heaven forbid anyone should go do something else if the only movies showing in the theaters are all crapfests…

  2. I watched this on DVD and found it tolerable. If they would just go to the original AVP comic or the novels they would have been able to put forward a much better movie. The only way AVP was tolerable to me was trying to puzzle out the ways that it could actually connect to the future stories in the Aliens and Predator franchises. Was anyone else disturbed by the idea that Mr. Weyland’s appearance was used for the Bishop model androids 100′s of years later? THat would be like booting up Windows 3000 and having the AI look like Bill Gates. YIKES!

  3. Taj, what a GREAT point concerning Weyland and the android from “Aliens”. I hadn’t thought about that…

BTW, welcome to Screen Rant… I’ve been enjoying reading your comments. :D

  4. After watching AVP i found it to be a real disapointment. First; the story was crap,it should not have taken place on earth. the idea that aliens have been here for thousands of years and we did not know it is just stupid. Plus there were only three Predators in the movie so automatically it was limited, and out of the 3, 2 of them died in the same scene. also the characters were weak, whcih was a big flaw , in both the alien and predator franchices you got to know the characters and like them which ultimately makes a movie even better than what it is. I found that this movie was extemrly rushed, and becuase of this there were many stupid parts for example; predators and humans do not work together and are friends, Another part was the ending with the birth of a half predator half alien, it just doesnt work. The movie should have had alot more of the alien and predator violence like the originals, they should not have toned it down so it would be more appropriate for kids none of the other movies were. With all the flaws in the movie I will say that the fight seens between the aliens and predators were good they could have been better and longer and there should have been more, but like i said before there were only three and only so much could have been done. Now that fox is planning to make a sequal to the so called success of AVP I suggest they rethink useing the same the director. Also here are some ideas on how to do another Alien vs. Predator First thing the movie has to be set in the future, and not on earth this way the story the of the movie could revolve around the a whole group of predators say 20-40 going to hunt aliens on there own planet. This way there would be many fights and deaths. Also there would have to be a sapce fleet with lots of guys with guns like there was in the second and fourth alien. They follow them to the planet not knowing what planet they are one and then the action starts. And a simple story like that with a few good writers and a director who knows what they are doing could make this movie into something huge. Also this movie could not be PG.
