According to horror news website ShockTilYouDrop Aliens vs Predator 3 is going to be made. Here’s a quote from the site:
“An anonymous source over at 20th Century Fox got in touch with us over the weekend to relay the news another Aliens vs. Predator sequel is a ‘certainty’ at this point. If you recall, the brothers Strause – who helmed the Christmas release Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem – stated Fox was going to take a ‘wait-and-see’ approach to a third chapter, furthermore, that the story would have to continue in space.”

Haven’t they tortured us enough?
Between the weak Alien vs Predator and the heinous creation that was Aliens vs Predator: Requiem I had truly hoped this franchise was dead. Ah, but where there’s even a meager amount of money to be made, a movie franchise will never die (can you say “Freddy” or “Jason”?).
It only made $129 million worldwide, and overseas crowds must have liked it more than folks in the U.S. because here it only earned $42 million. In case you don’t know, for a movie like this that is WEAK. They must have made it on the cheap for it to have shown a profit. First time directors and no name actors probably contributed to that.
I guess the DVD release of the movie is right around the corner and they’re anticipating good sales on that. No doubt they’ll have an “unrated” version… When is it coming out? Who cares!
I don’t think there is a snowball’s chance in Hell that this movie could possibly be good at all, but I’m sure they’ll come up with some spin or director that will once again fan the flames of hope in fans of both franchises. Like a girl you have a crush on that keeps saying she’ll go out with you and then cancels at the last minute, I’m sure that the next film will leave us beaten and disappointed. Again.
Hey, maybe they can get Brett Ratner to direct it, wouldn’t that be cool?!

I’m going to put it out there, I not only liked these 2 movies I hope they do make a AVP3…You want to know why? Because i think a Predator 3 or a Alien 5 just isnt going to happen….for what ever reason….so as a Dedicated fan of both franchises…I’ll get my fix where i can get it…Trust me I do know that sticking to the story line hasnt been in FOX’s interest but what movie franchise has that has been tossed around directors like these 2 franchises?
Trust me…..I seriously wish the James Cameron and Ridley Scott would get together and convince FOX that they should do ALIEN 5 and end the franchise the way it should be instead of dragging it on with low budget sequels…

Helluva wish, but true. And, frankly, why does it have to end. Look at the Star Wars fans, those guys get their dose what every two years, why can’t we wish for a super sequel every 3 years or so.
I would like for Peter Jackson to pick this project up and run with it. The man delivered the most spectacular cinema war scenes between the Oargs and the Rojan armies and the “giant Elephant people” in the same mix. He can easily pull off a large hoard of Predators slicing and dicing a few dozen/hundred Xenomorphs.
That just might be pretty decent…

Hey AO1 McLean, I like to think that in predator 2 (there was no 3) that the company there is the Yutani corp. They should just use my idea to merge the companies and the movies.
Vic Episodes I-III were very good, if you want to talk bad sequels how about, Alien 3 and alien resurection.
Craig, I won’t argue with you about Alien 3 & 4: bitter disappointment after the awesomeness that were 1 & 2 (”Aliens” is my all time favorite film).
But the Star Wars prequels were awful. I think Lucas ought to stick to pure CGI projects like animation and videogames because he’s lost his storytelling and casting mojo for sure.

Vic, I guess it is a matter of opinion. I just feel that the prequals had all the chemistry and same outline that the originals did, and it’s just that the originals were done so long ago and they were the first movies of their kind that have had 20+ years to get in our heads, but if you break it down they are pretty much the same as the prequals.
But this is about AVP and aliens and predator.
so back to the topic at hand. If FOX was smart they should kind of do what i think the new hulk movie is doing and start over. They should do another alien movie but start it from the end of Aliens and maybe have ripley wake up and say what a terrible dream. James Cameron had said himself that they spent all that time building up Hicks, Newt and Bishop and then in the next movie they die in the first scene.
Listen to me guys, I love Alien, I love Predator, and I love Aliens Vs Predator more than them, and AVP requiem more than all of them. I would be really happy if they made a 3rd AVP movie. You guys think it sucks, I think it rocks. So, please don’t make fun of me, we all have different oppinions(did I spell “oppinions” right? oh well).

For the recored I really enjoyed, predator predator 2, alien and aliens, AVP and even AVP-R.
Although AVP-R was way to dark but that is about it. And them adding the new scene at the beginning showing the smaller ship detatch from the mother ship, made it make much more scense that only 2 or 3 predators were on the ship.
When I first saw the ship crash in the original i was wait a minute what happened to the 30+ predators that were on the ship.
Ok, at least give us Predator 3. Come on..that has success written all over it. The most bad-as* villain of all time. And, follow the story line in DarHorse comic Predator: Cold wars. The Killing in Siberia Russia. The two FBI detectives teaming up with the Russians in the cold dark tundra of the Siberian vasts and the only way you can see a Predator is if he leaves trail of human blood in ice. Come on! that’s good stuff, off course as usual the humans will get their asses kicked before the Predators vanish in to the dark skies in the end, leaving their token of a technologically supeior weapon.
Well, for that matter, how about DarkHorse comic Predator: The Rouix. In the thick jungles near human civilization, you can’t see that camouflaged lizard face, can ya? Not to mention, he piles up the bodies in the deepest swamps. Probably next to his single taxi ship in which he landed.
Ultimately, I would love to see a movie made after Predator: Home World. When two predators were dispatched from their planet to hunt down a Predator who is running a muck with human killings . He breaks the Predator code and engaged in violence and must be brought back for justices. The only problem is the rogue Predator has superior battle skills, whereas the two hunting Predators possess old school knowledge and wisdom. We can even involve human characters in this one.
What we are planning to do is create another Predator film that covers some of the books like ‘Concrete Jungle’ and ‘Prey’ and then release an AVP-3 film. You have to remember that with making these we have to consider the wider audience and pull in new and old fans. You have only tasted the slice the pie is still waiting!

I agree. And, I think that the brothers Strauss didn’t do enough home work on the nature of this genera. They were also afraid of being vulnerable when taking risks for being creative. The darkness is a cop out. James Cameron and Ridley Scott showed full scaled creatures, and pulled it off greatly. The brothers Strauss reserved all such full shots. Why? It was done in 1979 and then in 1983, 1987, 1993…, so what was the technological hang-up in 2007?
On a semi-related topic. I read an article by a Hollywood critic, who presented data on the financial handicaps of Hollywood between 2000-2007. The message was that during the Bush presidency, Hollywood churned-in nearly half of the subsidized investments and revenues in comparison to the 90s. In the 90s decade, nearly 29 movies broke all time block buster records for making most revenues, and also for receiving record breaking funding for making movies. I suppose the punch line is that may be they should wait till after election and then try and make another SciFi movie.
I think you may of messed up the years a bit but thats ok, yeah im a geek. but another thing the brothers did wrong was take it literally what the fans wanted and put it in the movie without any thought. example, the alien under the catwalk with the predator on top, goes with arnie under the tree and predator on top. the way the predator in the first movie used his vision to back track the rock that arnie threw, was used in AVP-R but i can’t remember what for. At least they did add a couple of new things with the predator tracking the face huggers with trail they left with his vision and the wall mines.
FYI if you didn’t like the theater version of the first AVP get the unrated edition the added in more scenes and blood.

one of these days, I will land the “uncut” version and watch it. I agree about the laser trackers, especially the newer capability of dual zooming and zapping two heads…very cool!!! I noticed that in AVP-2, the Predators had a crested body armors, and not the usual elongated conical waisted metal chest-shields. That is more hunting-efficiency oriented..very Predator-like. So, the Strauss brothers did make the creature evolve creating further possibilities of features enhancement. Although, there was some lagging of the previously established features, like the Predator hardly used their retractable spears, their elite choice of weapon when going in to battles. Along with that, we saw limited use of their wrist-shear-blades. They also skipped any higher ground-leaping scenes…wonder why??? There were no close shots of the Predator orbital-vision scanner working silently???? We saw one infra-red scanning scene, but never the ultra-violet/blue or lower wavelength scanners in all of the darker scenes…perhaps the most chilling feature of them all.

This franchise is such a shame as there could have been a fantastic set of films in there. Instead they gave to sh1te directors (especially Anderson, what else could they have expected when they gave him the job?).
It makes a joke out of two of the greatest movie franchises in cinema history.
I didn’t think AVPR was SO horrible, but they definetly need to move to the Future instead of sticking to modern era, this just doesn’t work….It probably wouldn’t be so horrible if it was like the Alien movies, with the Weyland-Yutani corporation and all that….Perhaps they should base it more off the video games
I love the AVP movies.
We’d be better of with another Predator movie though.
But I think with the right people behind it AVP3 wouldn’t be so bad.
Maybe take it in a new artistic direction. Instead of following the same old boring human characters that no one gives a damn about.
It could be on the Predator homeworld and could have little to no dialogue at all.
And it would have been better if Lex and Scar had ended up together.
But that’s just me putting ideas out there.
And AVP2 did well over here in Australia.
A script suggestion for AvP 3…. Tie all predator/alien movies together. Set the movie in the future, after Alien Resurection. Bring Ripley into the film along with the surviving characters from alien 4. Ripley now having a unique perspective, and a partial merging of alien gene memory, has insight as to the location of the alien homeworld. this will cause her to set out on her goal of exterminating the species once and for all.
Part of the story should flash back to the crashing of the space jockey ship with eggs on LV-426 (perhaps a consequence of a war with the predators). The Predator and Space Jockey’s are at war over control over the alien homeworld territory. The Jockey’s want it quarantined the Predators want specimans so they can hunt. Their war with each other has caused them to turn a blind eye to what’s been going on earth for centuries. During that time earth has become a equal in travel among the stars. As for Ripley and friends, they eventually embark on a misson to eradicate the alien homeworld. During their journey they are secretly followed by the military whose intrest lies in “bringing back a speciman”! Unfortunately on their arrival to the alien homeworld they discover that the territory is already in dispute between the two other space faring races. After crashing on the surface of the planet (result of a space battle between the advanced races), a struggle to survive ensues. In the end their mission fails, but an alliance with the space jockeys is formed. Ripley and the survivors are taken to the space jockys world where whats left of that races culture evaluates the intentions of the humans. The USM or miltary foolishly takes a speciman back to earth which eventually leads to the second movie “Earth Hive”. The predators role as always is they are out for bloodlust, the thrill of the hunt etc. There world and culture is stronger than the other two, but they are running out of challenging prey to hunt. Their culture is centered around this, and their elders are threatend by the prospect of their younger generation becoming somthing other than warrior hunters. A seed of disension is in their roots, and the predator elders seek to keep the alien’s to hunt as a tool of preserving their ancient culture.
Earth hive would entail the Space Jockeys advanced knowledge being shared with humans, (their study of alien physiology revealed a weakness that eventually will lead to their ability to extinguish them). Ripley essentially becomes an emmisary for earth, and with the help of the space jocky utilizes a new bio weapon that eradicates the earth hive with ease. The Predators not wanting the new weapon to be used are working against the two other races, and in the meantime having a good time killing.
Part 3 could be the final extinction of the Alien species. After the catastrophe at earth, the ragged military thats left teams with the space jockeys to break the blockade that the predators have put up protecting the alien homeworld. After a hell of a space battle the now proven bioweapon is deployed on the surface below by Ripley.
Ultimately if this is written right, and proper flashbacks are used this could become one hell of a triology itself. The stage has been set with all the previous movies. Please someone, feel free to use this idea’s in AVP3!
now hang on a minute requiem was just the kick the series needed r rating & endless blood & gore & not to mention certain sources told me that the third one will take place in the future & have the….yes you guessed it the colonial marines so dont tell me another one would be a waste of time, all they need to do is keep the R rating no relationship like they had between some of the humans cause that crap ruined it & lastly bring about the destruction of the very corupt weyland-yutani corporation & it sure to be a killer movie

I’m all for somthing like that. I think there is so much possibility and potential. So many questions need answering. The first two avp start to scratch the surface on weyland yutani. You see trophy skulls in the predators cupboard. What I want to know is where the aliens come from. What the heck was that space jockey guy doing on LV-426 in the crashed alien ship? It’s obvious the universe is an endless space with so many possibilities. I want to see it all tie together in the end. I don’t think they can tie it all together and make it sing in just one more movie. The biggest complaint is people don’t think thealien series and predator series are retaining their original principals. I say make them work like old, but tie them together. Keep the ridely scott/ james cameron feel to aliens, and the same for the predator series.
I think an Animatrix-style DTV would answer all those questions and more.
I completely disagree with everyone here. I hated the 1st AVP movie but the 2nd one was a lot better. I hope they continue making the 3rd and more sequels, and of course, better ones LIKE 2nd movie.
