According to horror news website ShockTilYouDrop Aliens vs Predator 3 is going to be made. Here’s a quote from the site:
“An anonymous source over at 20th Century Fox got in touch with us over the weekend to relay the news another Aliens vs. Predator sequel is a ‘certainty’ at this point. If you recall, the brothers Strause – who helmed the Christmas release Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem – stated Fox was going to take a ‘wait-and-see’ approach to a third chapter, furthermore, that the story would have to continue in space.”
Just shoot me right now. Please.

Haven’t they tortured us enough?
Between the weak Alien vs Predator and the heinous creation that was Aliens vs Predator: Requiem I had truly hoped this franchise was dead. Ah, but where there’s even a meager amount of money to be made, a movie franchise will never die (can you say “Freddy” or “Jason”?).
It only made $129 million worldwide, and overseas crowds must have liked it more than folks in the U.S. because here it only earned $42 million. In case you don’t know, for a movie like this that is WEAK. They must have made it on the cheap for it to have shown a profit. First time directors and no name actors probably contributed to that.
I guess the DVD release of the movie is right around the corner and they’re anticipating good sales on that. No doubt they’ll have an “unrated” version… When is it coming out? Who cares!
I don’t think there is a snowball’s chance in Hell that this movie could possibly be good at all, but I’m sure they’ll come up with some spin or director that will once again fan the flames of hope in fans of both franchises. Like a girl you have a crush on that keeps saying she’ll go out with you and then cancels at the last minute, I’m sure that the next film will leave us beaten and disappointed. Again.
Hey, maybe they can get Brett Ratner to direct it, wouldn’t that be cool?!

I HATED the first movie, mostly because Paul Anderson is a talentless hack who’s managed to crap on two rather (Three if you put Aliens and Preds seperate
) awesome existing properties (Resident Evil and AvP).
However the 2nd one, I felt, brought it back to the roots. You never cared about the human element. It’s thrown in for flavor. You focus minimally on that and a majority on the Predator and his quarry: The aliens.
If three takes and improves on what 2 did, then awesome. In my eyes the franchise is saved simply because two made an awesome, GORY (Say no to PG-13 bullcrap) movie with an awesome Predator.
Thank you jimmysmith! I just watched AVPR last night, after waiting for it since I heard there might be a sequel right after I saw the first one, and I was a little disapointed at first. That stupid love story and the human element just made humans matter in the AVP battle again. But after that blond got smoked by Predator, I liked it so much more! The gore and special effects were great!
if you look back at the first predator, tons of gore. And same with the second Predator. I was never really an Alien fan so I never did get in to that series, but I did like Aliens. I love how most of the main characters die.
Anyways, enough about my ranting. Here’s what concerns me about AVP.
I read a comic once that was STRICTLY AVP. Predators landed on a planet, I think there was 5 or 6 of them, dressed in full armour, and just went to town with Aliens. It was all in black and white, and it was all battling.
There was a small dialogue throughout the comic. The dialogue (I think, this was a long time ago that I read this) was a hunting trip dialogue between two humans, and added in a comedic element, but had no effect on the story. It was a brilliant comic!
Here’s the problem with AVP movies. Without dialogue, the movie would not be well liked to the masses, cause who wants to watch a silent movie. But with dialogue, you need humans. The director in the first AVP focused too much on the human element, and on making the movie likeable to the masses. Big mistake.
The second movie tried to get back on track more to the comics like what Jimmysmith said, but at the same time keeping that human element alive. Bigger mistake? So what the heck do ppl want??
They’re making a movie for people who are cult fans of a series, but unfortunetly, to make the movie profitable, it has to appeal to the masses these days.
Now, with Predator 1 and 2, those were action films. Alien, Aliens, and the Alien 3 were more along the horror movie line. That shouldn’t be that hard to mix. But now you have an awkward situation. You have taken 3 different battles and mixed them together. Alien VS Predator, Alien VS Human, and Predator VS Human. How do you do that, while appealing to cult fans, AND appealing to the masses??
I have not seen many good reviews for either movie, but I loved them both. I worry about the future of this series, as I would LOVE to see this really take off, but only successfully, as I hate to see this bashed by so many people
Alan,
Nicely stated, bud. But in the end we all have our own opinions and as I’ve told people before, it’s free to start up a website and no one is stopping anyone from doing so where they can add their own voice to the web.
If I think a movie stinks, I’ll say so, just like if I think a movie is awesome I’ll say that as well.
Vic
Hey Vic,
Sorry I didn’t mean to sound like I was putting down anyone’s opinions. I totally understand, ALOT of people gave it bad reviews, and I can completely understand why. I think the only reason I liked it so much is cause all I care about is seeing Aliens and Predator on the same screen
Now I’m not even close to being done. I just had other things to do yesterday.
I think another major problem AVP has is who wins?? If Predator wins, Aliens fans and the masses are disapointed. If Aliens win, Predator fans and the masses are disapointed. If humans win, Predator and Alien fans are disapointed. And if they make it so all die, EVERYONE’S disapointed.
I think a better way they could’ve ended AVPR is to have had an Alien jump up as the helicopter was taking off, or maybe just sneak on to the copter’s landing gear bars, and have it attack once the chopper’s in the air and kill everyone, then have the chopper crash and show a scene of a dismembered Alien. But I think even by that point in the movie, it was too late to save it anyways :’(
btw, my thanks was to Chris, not jimmysmith, for his analysis of the 2nd movie. I didn’t realise ppls names are put at the bottom of posts.
Anyways, I think AVP is going to face so many problems, especially now that the first two have failed, which breaks my heart. I know by the third movie, people always say “Oh yeah the third one’s better than the first two”, and never “The third one ROCKED you should go see it.” There’s always that bit of negativity in the phrase, which will make it very tough to spread via word of mouth if the third movie is in fact good.
I think I almost agree with the few people that stated they should’ve just made a 3rd Predator. At least with Predator, you don’t have to concentrate on keeping a main character around through the years like Aliens (Sygourney Weaver). There’s so many ideas they could do for a third Predator too. I personally liked the mini-series “Dark River” which was sort of a sequel to the 1st Predator movie. Strange Rouge was good too, but a little on the weird side.
Anyways, that’s my several cents
I’m sure I’ll think of more on my walk home today. Bye for now
Alan, no worries. You left great comments that were civil while disagreeing. I’ll welcome you back to visit and comment any time.
Vic
I don’t think there’s going to be another AvP film for a long time.
A lot of the dvd locations I frequent haven’t sold that many copies and the Juno stand is empty.
If Juno is outselling AvP-R, you know they got problems.
Hey Vic I forgot to tell you the dvd is Unrated and has 5 extra minutes of gore.(To explicit for theatres).
Gheeshh what a classy grp. :¤
Hey Alan (want to see a cool flick) check out Cloverfield. Its on dvd so you can skip around to all the good stuff.
It really does look good on a smaller screen.
I quit enjoyed avp and avp 2. But I do agree that the two franchises need to be split or kept apart. Who knows what could happen with a new predator or alien for that matter. It would be freakin sweet of we got a new one of each. Then everyone could get a taste of a new alien and predator movies. James Cameron would have a good mine to do it when he is not busy. Which is hardly no and days.
I would like to see new alien and predator movies
As someone whos never read the comics, and its been years since I’ve seen the first movies for each when I saw AVP2 in theaters o.0 i actually kind of liked it. Now i’m sure yall will have a field day with that but I guess I went into it expecting what I got.
These days, sequels remakes, spin offs, whatever they are they’re never going to be as good as the past ones. In fact its a rare thing for them to be ‘good’ by any standard so when I bought a ticket for this movie I knew very well I was going to go see a standard hollywood ‘horror/gore’ film. It made me laugh, it clearly made the people I was in the theater laugh and from what I could tell everyone in my theater at least liked it
Maybe they knew what they bought a ticket for as well? So if they make an AVP3 I’ll prolly see that as well. Do I expect it to rape the original? Yes, but if you know that, then see it, and then get angry over it..well thats your own fault isn’t it?
They’re going to keep making these movies, but so long as it keeps my attention I dont really care besides no matter how much people want to claim it was, it quite honestly isn’t the worst sequel ever.
God you guys are losers no one forced you to watch it it’s your own faults for going to see it and now all you’re doing is bitching~
I understand that you voiced your opinion Malorie. The reason we voice ours is because we have the freedom of speech. Just because we did does not make us losers. We are not bitching at all. I just joined this site and I like and I am glad that I can voice to others who feel the same way as I do. All of us on the site like to voice our opinion and we will probably continue to do so. We watched these movies because we wanted to do so. There is no wrong in that.
Sorry Michael we are not losers and no we are not bitching.
whats sad is that james cameron wanted to do an alien 5 with ridly scott….
but cameron saw the AVP concept as the nail in the coffin for anymore alien movies…
sad…with james back paired with ridley and reportedly weaver….holy s#$t….tag team was back again..
and alien 5 was going to show us where these creatures came from…that woulda been cool
alas…..fox gave birth to AVP…
not bad, but would have pref to see where each plot would have taken the 2 creatures seperately..
hope cameron has a change of heart…
dont blame him if he doesnt.
they havent left him with much to go on..
thank god fox dont own transformers….
aliens v predator v transfomers….
who ever wins nobody cares
Michael, nobody forced you to read any of the posts, and noone forced you to take the time to inform us of what “losers” we are for coming to a public forum to express our opinions on a movie to which this forum was created. I quite enjoyed reading everyone’s thoughts on AVP2, even though most were against the movie. To be completely honest, the movie did suck, but I still loved it. It’s like a horrible car accident that you just can’t help but watch lol
There were so many ways they could’ve done AVPR that would’ve resulted in a better movie. It breaks my heart :’(
Metman, I’m not even an Aliens fan, but DAMN I would’ve LOVED to see that almost more than another Predator movie. I thought Alien Resurection pretty much killed the Alien saga. Aliens was the best imho, but I’ve never seen Alien and didn’t much care for the lack of military presence in Alien 3. Also I like the “hive” concept of Aliens, how they set up shop, multiply and conquer.
I’ve heard from a few people who were in the process of making a deal with FOX about doing a final Alien movie with Ridley Scott and James Cameron (maybe). Sigourney Weaver had already said yes, because the premise for the story was pretty unique and I think that was what made her consider taking the role again. That and the fact that it would have been two of the best directors in the franchise.
I was really pleased to hear about it, till, at that time it was only a rumor, that Alien Vs. Predator was on the concept board.
It was birthed out of desperation to make a 3rd Predator. Somehow the idea never got further than one meeting where they probably pitched the combo. I honestly don’t remember the premise for Predator 3, because I might be mixing my idea with what was told that day. Was there a chance that it might have been a worthy 3rd installment of Predator? at the time, maybe not, because budget wise it wasn’t good enough. But on the flip side, had they gone with Predator 3, the idea would have been, that there was a moment in Predator 3 where ‘again’ we’d see the ALIEN scull. Only this time it would have been a preview to the 5th and final ALIEN movie. This is unconfirmed because I wasn’t there, but those who were said that they even talked about a sneak preview of a scene which would be a teaser within a movie for the 5th ALIEN. I’m thinking that the Wayland-Yutani company was finally given birth in the Predator 3 film as it was set in the near future.
And like Back to the Future 2 if anyone can remember that, they showed a trailer for the 3rd film right after the movie was finished. They would have done the teaser for ALIEN 5.
It was something like this :
After the epic battle was won with the help of Wayland-Yutani, and the movie ended… a familiar sound would echo through out the cinema with the same sounds as those from ALIEN. Same panning of the camera, ending on a distant planet… with the same computer typewriter style text on the lower left bottom of the screen indicating the year and planet’s name. Ending with the text saying… ALIEN 5 …
Again this was only a proposal so it never got made. But I think it got so much hype about the mix of the two movies that they ended up dumping the original idea and go cheap, doing a mix. Which is what they did.
I’m not a fan of the first Alien Vs. Predator so I never saw Alien Vs. Predator 2. I was upset that they used the Wayland-Yutani idea in the story and got Lance to be apart of it. But then, he was one of the first people to sign on just to be apart of the Alien franchise again. Lance is such a great person by the way…
And in conclusion, I think this act from FOX, distanced Cameron and Scott from doing the 5th and final ALIEN story.
I don’t know the details, but I do know that Sigourney was very disappointed. I can understand… The 5th Alien would have been really great. I read the treatment and I was really excited.
Thanks for all that info Stephen. I can tell your in the biz. Funny I read a spec script of the first Star Wars prequel years back and it was complety diffrent then Phantom Menance. (If I remember it was called Star Wars , Twilight of the Gods). It wasn’t too bad.
If the public could see some of the abandoned projects hollywood chokes on they would really be upset.
I for one wouldn’t mind a AvP film set within a complete Predator point of view. No humans, No earth. Just some farout planet with other lifeforms getting in the way or fighting along side of the Pred’s. I would do it in total Predator dialect. You wouldn’t even know what they were saying until you saw them doing it. Make it a fast paced quest for survival. Maybe having the preds loosing some of their weapons in a crash and having to use other means availible ?
Also, Personally I thought having Lance Hendrickson in AvP was really cool.
And Stephen if you didn’t like Avp I’ll warn you AvP-R is really bad. =¤.
Ps hope to read more of your posts!
Hey 790!
Thanks for your comments,
Well, I like Lance a lot (hmm sound strange to say it like that Lance A Lot) Anyway…
I just got upset that the story idea for Wayland was so mutilated. It was originally so different, I don’t see why they didn’t include it. But meh… like you say, Hollywood has a vault as big as the one in Indiana Jones the Raider of the Lost Ark. Remember? The ending… with tons of boxes? Yeah that’s all real… with abandoned scripts… I’m sure! ;p
I also read a very different draft of Star Wars Phantom Menace… and in that version Anakin wasn’t 7 years old. He was 14 and Padme was 16 (makes much more sense to me that way). There were so many things different about it, it was actually pretty good, except for the dialogue. But eh… you know Lucas.
I’m sure we’ll get more Predator and Alien movies, fighting each other and some where they just fight humans. It’s just the beginning… of the end…
Ok, it may still become very healthy and mature into a great franchise… they just need a real good story that brings back the glory of Predator and Alien.
It’s always a pleasure talking with ya 790.
I thank Vic for such a great community he’s hosting.
Thanks Vic!
Thanks Stephen, yeah I’ve allways like Lance Hendrickson. Remember that Terminator, ” I hate the weird ones” line? Haha
I remember a real wierd film that he was in with Eric Roberts (I forgot the title) he was a serial killer in that one. Had a real twist ending. Anyway…..
Yea I hear what your saying about the Wayland reference in Avp.
(I was able to read a couple of treatments written for Star Trek 11. One was real bad but the other one if done right would have been HUGE.
But it went into the Jones Warehouse of natural wonders.
Is tough when you’ve read a better version of a film that comes out and sucks.
Personally I would be really surprised if AvP 3 ever comes out.
Please check in often Stephen!
Allways good to talk to you.
Alien five would of been awesome and probably could of made millions. Who knows. There are so many abandoned scripts in hollywood the number would be stagering. Cameron and Scott could be astounded to the possibilty of how much money they could make with another alien movie. Think of this.
Sigourney and her team on their ship, engine malfuctions, blows and the whole ship takes a crash landing on a unknown planet. Not knowing the planet, they explore to find a way off of it. They struggle to find their way around. A few men disappear, they try and find them. When they think they are in a cave they meet the alien race.
Just a little something off the top of my head. I’m a writer so I think up crazy stuff.
Lauren,
I wrote a treatment for Alien 5 too… but before I actually got as far as handing it in with all the details from treatment notes, step outline etc. they were already oozing with ideas of the merger between Alien and Predator… I saw no reason to get my story reviewed when I knew what was going on behind closed doors.
I’ll take it out soon and do a re-write and see if it’s worth mentioning again.
I didn’t actually write it, that was just a idea. I get millions of ideas. I write so all kinds of the things come up.I am actually going to try my hands in sci-fi.
if they do a new movie they should make a new senario and stop mixing all the old movies in one.requiem its a copy from all the older movies i quit watch it coz it was nothing that i havent`t see already
i prefer to do a aliens movie remake than make another avp that is like watching all the movies in one.
Did u guys know I almost barfed when I saw the pred and the chick run off hand in hand in AvP1?
LOL I almost barfed too. Let’s just be thankful that their was no half pred and half human.
I do agree that the first avp was weak in action and gore. And the seconded one was really lacking actors and story ( but as fans do we really care about the freaking people in the middle of it all?) So why is is possible that in the third movie that take the first movie story and the the great action and gore the seconded one had.
I would like the director of 2007 The Mist to come on board the 3rd avp movie or hold the project.
y’know they will never make the movies like they used to.. so we should be happy with what we get: Nostalgia on screen.
Allthough it would be better if Fox Interactive would just make another AvP for the PC ^_^
if the director of myst takes part on this movie then for sure they will be more mpla mpla and chating than action and would be a talking movie.i prefer the director of rambo 4 to take avp3.
Its pretty freaky to think that any day now I could go on Screen Rant and see the headlines.
YEP, ITS THE END OF THE WORLD, THERE WILL BE A ALIENS VS PREDATOR 3.
Sheessh if I’m drivng my car, I might just plow past that wooden security barracade right into that nuclear power plant that I allways drive by in the morning.
Cause it will be the end of the world anywhay, WGaS?
If they shoot this on a spaceship I hope they get thrown into the Delta Quadrant with the film crew still on board… Borg Fodder. ¤-|
It might be interesting if Stallone and M. Night Shamalayn became part of the avp movies. With Shamalayn their would be all kinds of twist.
