Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, a slightly over-the-top remake, is the latest project by Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man, Invincible). The film made the rounds on the festival circuit and Screen Rant correspondent John Foote, caught a viewing of it at the Toronto International Film Festival where it was named as an official selection. He walked away with praise for the project that he thought was somewhat bizarre.
The major call out we’re seeing commonly reported from those who’ve screened the film is about Nicolas Cage’s strong performance. Here at Screen Rant, John thought described Cage’s work in this film as “hugely entertaining and wildly over the top performance,” and that’s it’s some of the best work of his career.
Today we have the brand new official trailer for Bad Lieutenant and it’ll sure give you some hints about what to expect about Cage’s character.

Watch and enjoy:
Cage plays a New Orleans police officer after the events of Hurricane Katrina who suffers from a back ailment. This leads to him starting to use more than just painkillers, but a variety of illegal substances. His addiction doesn’t stop there though as he becomes addicted to power, setting the path of his adventure of “highs” and lows.
What did you think of the trailer?
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans opens November 20, 2009 and stars Nicolas Cage as the lead alongside Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes and Xzibit.

I’m actually looking forward to this. This can be pretty good.
I must say that looks terrible. Best performance in years? What? That looked horrid.
I don’t think I’d pay to see this. I’ll just wait until it’s on TV.
Nick Cage’s character looks really annoying.
The key word is…….BAD!
i will go see another Nic Cage movie when he announces he is forever retiring acting
I’ve seen the movie premier in New Orleans, and I can’t imagine trying to market the thing, or make a trailer for it. It really is a perceptive and artful movie though… excellent performances. It’s funny, too, and the preview tries to make that humor all dramatic. It’s definitely worth seeing in the theater, preferably with a New Orleans audience!
never allow cage to laugh in a movie (creepy face)
it looks good….better than he looked in the weatherman, wouldnt you agree. Thats movie is so bad it never made cable…
