Today we have the new official trailer for Killshot, an action-thriller with a big cast that should have come out years ago.
Killshot, based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard, is the story of a woman who witnesses a crime and as a result is put into Witness Protection with her husband. The plot thickens as they start to find out they may not be so well protected while the hitman from the earlier crime and a psychopathic killer target them.

The film is directed by John Madden (Proof, Shakespeare in Love) and stars Mickey Rourke, Tom Jane, Diane Lane, Rosario Dawson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film has gone through years of production issues and while filmed way back in 2005, it is now finally arriving for its official theatrical debut after a series of test-screenings and re-edits.
Killshot has a solid cast but it’s not something to write home about – at least from the trailer, which seems to give away most of the story. I’m getting the vibe of a run-of-the-mill thriller but if the story is more intricate than this teaser makes it seem, then this may be a hidden gem long in the making. And let’s not forget the cast, which sells the movie on their own – at least for me.
Take a look and see what you think:
I’ll be making time for this film and I hope it does better in theaters than a lot of others think.
What amazing timing for Mickey Rourke who’s currently receiving Robert Downey Jr.-like hype for his amazing performance in The Wrestler and at the same time, is being handed roles as the villain in Iron Man 2 and as an arms dealer in Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also someone to look out for this year with his role as the infamous Cobra Commander in G.I. Joe.
Does the trailer excite you enough to see the Killshot when it hits theaters on January 23, 2009?

I have been waiting for this film for some time, and to be honest I don’t know what kind of “re-edits” due to test audiences they talked about. If it were any other studio behind it it’s something I would pass. But it’s Weinstien Group- who also delayed Fanboys because of attempting to fix something that wasn’t broken.
So why take Killshot off the shelf? Easy!
Mickey Rourke is hot again.
I don’t whay everyone is calling this “Mickey Rourke’s “KILLSHOT”"…
This is Diane Lane’s movie. She is in practically every scene! Give the lady some respect will you! No wonder she has quit. She was always “overlooked”.
Im looking forward to this movie. Could be the same old action movie but that wont bother me too much. As long as its a good action thriller you wont hear me complaning.
btw, “Today we haves the new official trailer for Killshot”
I think haves is suppose to be have. Correct me if im wrong.
I’ve seen another trailer to this movie when I bought Killzone. I’ve been wondering when this would come out.
I will be waiting to see this films review before i get excited. Looks good though, Diane Lane is a fox.
Oh yah, I want to buy Unfaithful just for Diane Lane…
Hey Ken we all know about your thang for Diane Lane!! LOL..you like the ladies twice your age..
..I think Rourke may be hotter than RDJ right now…2008 the year of the huge comebacks….
Oh and yes I think Lane is a foine foine looking lady too
Much more so than some of the so-called “hot” actresses of today… With a FEW exceptions of course, very few… so few that I can’t really think of any right now. I know I’ve seen some younger actresses that I thought was very beautiful, but don’t remember what their names are or what movies I saw them in…
We should hijack this thread to a hot ladies of film thread, lol. Oh, but that won’t be fair for the lady readers, and I don’t want to read about hot guy actors, lol. So forget it, bad idea…
lol, Jess H
you are right – I quickly corrected it
DIANE LANE is hot (and talented). Her quitting is a BIG loss for Hollywood I think. She was far to underappreciated.
Agreed here, young or old(er), Diane has got it. The film looks very typical though and it looks like Jane is stuck in the back seat to a strong female lead and Rourke who’s always played a great badguy.
Diane Lane is a great actor, unfortunately she’s not as ‘bankable’ in the eyes of the studio as much as Mickey Rourke is right now so they’ll push his character in the promo material as much as possible.
Don’t buy it… sorry…
Diane Lane’s last few films “Nights In Rodanthe”, “Untraceable”, “Under The Tuscan Sun”, “Unfaithful”, “Must Love Dogs”, “The Perfect Storm” have all made over $70 million at the worldwide boxoffice (some of them have made SIGNIFICANTLY more than that). Mickey Rourke has had only ONE film in the last 5 years that has done anything like that and that was “Sin City” in 2005. Yes, Mickey Rourke is HOT right now, but from a worldwide boxoffice point of view the Weinstein marketing people must be NUTS to cut Diane Lane out of the marketing. I mean it can’t hurt to have HER and Mickey right. I mean… it’s DIANE LANE for f**ks sake! Chicks and Guys love her!
Right, but Rourke is the (arguably) the most talked about actor in the movie world right now.
So they’re gonna push that. They aren’t completely cutting out Lane either, most of the trailer was her afterall.
And thats all that really matters, even if ur name is not the big thing on the box, if u have more screen time they are going to be looking at her more then him. It looks like she is in almost every scence too so im not complaning.
