first iron man 2 image1 First Official Pic From Iron Man 2: Hall Of Armor!

The first official image from Iron Man 2 was supposed to be released tomorrow, but USA Today jumped the gun and posted it online tonight (thanks to /Film for the alert). The coolest thing about the image is that it seems to highlight Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr., of course) “Hall of Armor” from the comic book. It’s a room where he keeps all the different versions of his Iron Man armor.

Check out one version of it below (from

Sorry I couldn’t find a color version of the image (I know there’s one out there somewhere), but I wanted to get this out to you sooner than later.

Here’s what director Jon Favreau had to say about the film’s production so far:

“How many superheroes are open about their true identities? We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences — in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore. It’s never easy with summer movies, but we’re trying to keep as much a surprise as possible,”

Just that one little pic is enough to light my fire in anticipation of Iron Man 2 – I can’t wait to see what Favreau shares at Comic-Con this July!

  1. Love the transparent monitors!
(Wonder if Dell makes those? I love my 24″ Ultra Sharp)

  2. Coool, makes you wonder what other armors there must be just off screen, lol. I wonder what the two red/gold ones are. I wonder if they are just the one he had in the first one that got badly damaged, and a brand new one, or if they are actually two different versions… Oooohhh, can’t wait to see more…

  3. cool stuff,

I wonder if there will be hints of other more extreme variants of the armor from the comics.

  4. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. is the suit on the far left supposed to be war machine’s armor?

  6. Looks more like the Mark I, remember Stane had it all reconstructed at the lab, so Stark could have easily taken it back to display in his Hall of Armor…

  7. SWEET !!!!!!
finally sum thing to help my Marvel Hype addiction.
    cant wait for this film.

  8. You know, looking closely at the red/gold armors on the right, they are different. I thought that it might be the battle damaged one from the first movie and a newly built replica to the right, but looking at them closely, they are different. The arc reactor window/unibeam part looks bigger and higher up on the chest, it looks slimmer, the contours of the red and gold parts also look slightly different especially the thigh area… Hm, I wonder if this is the upgrade of the Mark III, Mark IV? Or if it’s like one of those specific task suits they had in the cartoon or comics?

Man, I thought the first image would be some really bland picture of Stark talking to someone, or standing around, but this is actually a really cool first picture, raises so many questions…

  9. @ Ken J

The two red ones are really interesting…but is it weird that i think the one on the left looks like a new model and the one on the right looks like the old model? The helmet on the left one looks sleeker…

But i could be wrong because why would stark put his armour in non-chronological order???

Oh and that second silver one looks…different…very cool pic on the whole!

  10. Nice, Downey is to Stark as Perlman is to Hellboy…you just can’t see anyone else playing the characters. Unless the studios jump in and screw this up, I’m betting next summer will frakin’ rock!

  11. VERY cool pic, Vic. Thanks for sharing with us!! I trust Favs and RDJ to make this just as enjoyable as the first one.

I think the red suit on the left is the old one. It looks really damaged in the torso area. I could be wrong though. I can’t wait to see what other armor surprises Favs has for us!

  12. Very nice! IMO,in order from left to right: Mark I (prototype), Mark II (silver), Mark II (used most in the first film), newest model(?) could be module armor (similar to 90’s)

Hope Faverau made the the sub-armor and stealth armor from the concept art of the first film just to be in the armor gallery.

  13. Also, it pretty sick that all of them are powered up on stand by.:D

  14. I want to see the Hulkbuster armour. Since in TIH, Stark knows about him, it would make since he would create armour that could withstand a Hulk onslaught. Now, if I could just find that guy that created the time machine… :-) Favreau, if you can give us another movie like your first one, you may get propelled near Cameron-esk statue (OK, maybe Lucus-esk :-) ).

  15. The picture looks fantastic and tells us a world of information. I just can’t wait. Robert Downey Jr. just looks fantastic!!! He truly is Tony Stark/Ironman. Oh, if anyone is interested, you can go to – Ironmans Hall of Armor – on the internet and it will give you listings on how and where to purchase photos and models of the Hall of Armor shown above. Marvel is already manufacturing items. Have fun.

  16. Oh, Adrian and Tony, I didn’t check but the armor you are both looking for might be listed there or pictures could be there also. I hope you can find what you are looking for!

  17. I am so sorry. Forgive me John – your armor might be there also I forgot to list you above with Adrian and my friend Tony. Please excuse me. Please check the web site though. Good luck.

  18. Looking in the foreground: You notice he has all those nice futuristic monitors and a antique looking *brown box*. Is there something to that? or that is liquor carrier? or is there something in it he is researching or analyzing?

    AWESOME first pic!

  19. The first 3 appear to to be the suits used in the last film…that 4th one is probably his current suit. Tony Stark is constantly improving/tweaking/upgrading…in his own words…Art is never finished, just abandoned…

  20. Very Cool! Thank you so this!

  21. King Riva

The helmet in the third one looks about the same, probably just slightly different angle. But I do agree it looks “new” compared to the rest of the armor that looks darker and perhaps damaged. But remember, his helmet was crushed by War Monger in the first film, so it probably is brand new.

Man, I can’t wait for this. I wonder if he has his war machine armor all built already to be later converted to work with Rhodey…

  22. Like it!

  23. One word: AWESOME.
Yeah, for me the one on the right is probably his current armor, the one he will mainly use in the new film, while the other is perhaps the one he used to battle Iron Monger, though I remember the helmet was crushed by the villain, and one gauntlet was probably lost…
Anyways, I hope they soon release a new pic that includes the main cast of the film, just like they did for the first, I’m dying to see how Rourke and Scarlett look like for their characters.
Oh, and isn’t that box in the pic the one he was carrying in the images from the first day of filming?

  24. Damn, can we fast forward to May 2010 already?? 😀

  25. I think that they should make a t-shirt that looks like the one RDJ is wearing in that shot. Just a black tee with the power source on it. No Iron Man logo anywhere. It’d be cool to see reactions if people recognize it.

  26. @Andy S

I actually have a t-shirt from last year’s Comic-Con that is exactly as you describe.

And the power source glows in the dark. 😛

  27. Vic, I’ve been looking for that shirt everywhere. Apparently it’s only for that comic con thing. NOBODY has thought of actually making and selling the shirt like that. I don’t mind if it has Iron Man on the back of it, but the front should be completely blank with that arc reactor shining through…

I will pay good money for a shirt like that, but shirts they hand out in places like comic con usually only come in one size, like XL so it fits the most people right? So even if I was there to get one, it wouldn’t really fit very well for me. It’ll be good for concealment though, if you know what I mean, lol. But I’ll look ridiculous.

  28. Well… I’m not really to keen on the ‘everybody’ knows I’m a Superhero thing anyway…

    – Stark

  29. BTW…

    Marvel Marketing Department…

Do a better job with the ‘toy isle’ this next time will ya?
