    Glad this Iron Man 2 forum has spawned such a nice Batman discussion.
  • Fenix
    Keaton is lamee. Never saw him as batman in the first place. I enjoyed val kilmer more not because I liked him as batman, but because I think hes a better actor. Clooney was just terrible I'm sure all agree on that...
  • rich
    its bruce waynes evil cousin
  • Ken J
    He correctly spells his name like 5 other times in that same paragraph. So he made one typo...
  • dannyboy
    Who's Brice Wayne anyway?
  • Ken J
    OMG, why does TDK take over every Iron Man thread in existance??? lol :-P

    @DrSamBeckett

    I forgot to mention that for me what I felt was best about keatons perfromance and what put him higher up the llist then Bale was his protrayl of Bruce Wayne, the true mask in the batman/Bruce Wayne persona. For years now the comic book (and correctly so I might add) push has been that Batman is the real person and Brice Wayne is the mask. WIth that said both Bale & Keaton played this up but Keaton played Wayne as an ansent minded rich guy; someone who could never be mistaken for the masked vigilante. Bale portrayed the rich party guy who can be stuck on himself (see party at Wayne Manor in Batman Begins). Both are good masks but Keatons is more representative of the comic book.

    I believe that had keaton not already done his potrayal the way he did that we just might have seen Bale do it that way. I believe Bale's ego made him, no change that; forced him to pick a different take on Brice Wayne so he could make it his own.

    I would if I had a Pro memebership. Was kinding of hoping someone else with a Pro memebrship (perhaps VIc?) would do the honors.

    why not just tell us what it says? Be a sport.

    FYI - The Next Terminator film and the next Batman film are both on IMDB.com now but you have to have a Pro membership to get any details on either.
  • @BlueCollarCritic

    Thanks.

    I'm sure loads of people will jump down my throat for daring to say something bad about TDK, and I really dont hate it, and I don't hate Bale at all. He was excellent in Batman Begins, and he was at his career best in the Prestige, which is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen.

    I simply prefer Michael Keaton's take on the character, he managed to mix the conflict of Bruce/Batman's duality perfectly, and he never gets enough credit for his performance. Keaton had a tortured look in his eyes, you could obviously see it as Batman, but it remained there when he was Bruce as well.

    As great as the Nolan Batman's are, I hope people don't forget how groundbreaking and brilliant both of Tim Burton's Batman movies truly were.

    "And as for Bale being the only one who approached the character with psychological approach, I’m fairly certain Keaton did the same thing, and did it better!.."

    Amen to that one. Bale was good and I know this is probably going to spawn hate posts from "TDK is the end all to batman movies" from certain posters whose name I won't drop here but I agree that of all who have potrayed Batman, Keaton has proabbly come the closest to representing the true Batman/Bruce Wayne dual persona.
  • Actually I wasnt the one who brought up TDK, the only reason I so often mention it, is because whenever comic book movies come up they are compared to TDK.

    @ Kofi Outlaw

    I find it odd that you didnt mention Michael Keaton!

    And as for Bale being the only one who approached the character with psychological approach, I'm fairly certain Keaton did the same thing, and did it better!

    I'm really looking forward to this movie. I wasn't a big fan of the first one, maybe it was over-hyped for me. It was really god, but I, personally, didn't think it brought anything new to the table. It was the necessary evil that is the origin story. But it put things in motion and set it up so that the sequel would be something special.

    BTW, I'm a huge Batman fan, and Iron Man is probably my favorite movie franchise to come out of the Marvel stable.
  • Fenix
    I'm pretty sure the joker lived... or do you mean Heath? So sad....
  • Paul Young
    @joeslankas - "The Dark Knight was not that great of a film. Way, WAY over-rated. Too long, too dark, and a sappy ending."

    Um...did we watch the same film? The Joker died, Bruce Wayne lost the woman he loves and Batman becomes an outlaw running from the very city that he works to protect. At what point did that become "sappy". Man I'd hate to see what you call sad. :(

    yeah I'm not sure why they don't pull the footage but I only posted it for people who don't mind seeing the video before it's released. If it's a problem I'm sorry. Just know some people drool over footage like that. Only reason I posted it.
  • @M-Cat

    Wow, I guess if you're a super-popular site the studios leave you alone when it comes to bootleg footage? Sheesh.

    Or you can just agree to disagree.. In no way shape or form do I view our exchanges as a "personal victory".. You think I get some sort of high by arguing with you? I can care less buddy sorry to burst your bubble. Remember you were the one who came at me first, I referred to your comment that I skimmed thru but I wasn't trying to call you out. I understand we see things differently but that doesn't excuse you to insult my intelligence.I know I don't have the best grammar but I try. From the way you talk I'm guessing your a bit older but obviously maturity hasn't caught up yet.

    And goodness knows you've wasted enough of your time replying to my posts so why not waste some more...

    Lots of folks consider Star Wars Science Fantasy, not Science Fiction. If I mentioned that already this week I apologize, I'm not feeling the best this week.

    o have one thing to look foward to this year movie wise and this is it. i got my transformers on last year so its about time for movie junkie withdrawls to start.
    very cgi intensive but the first one kinda was but it looked great. lets see if the year of the great sequals wll continue.
  • Andy S
    That new poster is freakin' sweet. I'm already clearing a spot on my wall for it.... :P

    IM is easily my most anticipated movie for 2010. I think Favs and company are going to blow us away with this one.
  • BlueCollarCritic
    @Fenix

    OldMan and I have debates on the definition os Science Fiction and even though we disagree he at least is able to make an intelligent argument. I can see its a waste of time to even bother trying to get you to see even what you've posted yourself so why bother with anything else. I give up. And while I have no doubt you;ll see that as osme kind of personal victory; it is not.
  • joeslankas
    The Dark Knight was not that great of a film. Way, WAY over-rated. Too long, too dark, and a sappy ending.

    Iron Man was ten times better.
  • Fenix
    @bluecollarcritic

    Wow lots of fluff in that but no real meaning... I didn't call you any name first of all unless you think "Guy" is insulting... Second of all you act like I don't give a damn about anyones opinion and mine is the only one that matters. Please spare me "everybody has an opinion" speech god knows I've heard it countless times on this site. Of course peoples opinions matter man why do I come to this site??? Just think about it man I am entitled to my opinion just as you are.

    Of course theres a chance that Iron Man 2 will be as good or better than TDK but all I'm saying is ITS NOT LIKELY.

    In no way shape or form was I trying to attack you and your comment to me was even worse than mine.. better check yourself and think harder about something better to say :)

    #Fenix
    "..I think some people would agree that your claim is unjustified…""
    Really? Gee now that’s surprising since most of the time everyone thinks the same way. Oh wait a sec... that’s right we don't all think the same way so maybe, and I know this is a stretch for you, just maybe some out there do think that Iron Man 2 has the potential to be what TDK was to Batman Begins.

    No I'm not trying to be clever I was however trying to give you an out but instead you resulted to the lowest common denominator; name calling.

    Think (I know you can do it if your try hard enough) about the exact wording of my original comment.

    "I believe Iron Man 2 has the potential to be what The Dark Knight was to Batman Begins".

    First off I did say "I Believe" which implies a personal opinion, something we all are entitled to including yourself and notice how I have not criticized your opinion of either film. Even so the comparison made is not that Iron Man 2 has the potential to be a THE DARK KNIGHT but that is has the potential to be what TDK was to Batman Begins.

    What that means is that Iron Man 2 has the ability to take the Iron Man series to a new level, a better and deeper level then the first movie just as TDK did for Batman Begins. In no way does that statement say that IM2 is going to be anything equivalent to TDK. It was a relative comparison and not a literal one.

    As far as trying to pick you apart, there was no "try" necessary because even after being given a chance to clarify yourself, which you partly did with the comment about not actually reading the original post before you replied, you still opted to put your foot in your mouth.
  • Fenix
    @bluecollarcritic

    Ok you got my I skimed thru your comment. My bad... I didn't really mean Iron Man heavily relied on CGI i just meant it used a helluva lot more than TDK. I'm pretty sure that much is clear. I know CGI cuts costs but hey I like Nolans mentality of not cutting any corners. Think about looking at these two movies in 30 years when CGI is practically life like. Iron Man will look like a piece of crap while TDK will hold up beautifully. Thats the only point im trying to make.

    Oh and how am I being pretentious by using the word to refer to you thinking (my mistake) that Iron Man 2 would compare to TDK??? I think some people would agree that your claim is unjustified... isn't that what it means?? Are you just trying to sound clever? Because you don't.... And I'm not on the huge TDK bandwagon BUT i have tons of respect for Chris Nolan since hes made one of my favorite movies (memento). Go try to pick someone else apart it won't work here guy...
  • @ Dr. Sam Beckett

    In fact, reading over these comments I TOTALLY disagree with your assessment of Batman and the actor currently playing him.

    Bale is really the ONLY actor to have approached Bruce/Bats from the psychological perspective - a real world psychological perspective.

    Every cinematic incarnation of Bats has had us "just go with it" in regard to the fact that this guy dresses up like a Bat. Bale subtly conveys Bruce's tortured nature and then, through Batman, Bruce's tortured nature unleashed upon those he sees as the source of his pain: criminals.

    Bale SHOULD look disinterested while playing Bruce. Bruce is disinterested in BEING Bruce Wayne. He is Batman - Bruce (as stated in BB) is just his disguise.

    Bale really gets little credit for who well he's studied and understood the character in a real-world context. Val Kilmer and George Clooney were phoning in their performances.

    I don't expect to change your mind, but I'm stating this for the record - don't want you walking around unchallenged. :-)
