Man, I cannot believe that I bought and read this as a 12 issue comic when it first appeared on the stands in 1986. I read it all again the next year and 23 years later, I get to see it as a motion picture.

This tops when I sat in on A NEW HOPE 5 times back to back on a spring day in 1977.

Hold on……no it doesn’t.

WOW. Great report, bro. Gibbons is an awesome man, he’s one of my biggest inspirations as a cartoonist. So much cool info in that post. Thanks!

And I agree that not all comic book movies should go “dark” and “grim and gritty”. That’s bullsh*t.

I would have LOVED to have seen that project Moore and Gibbons were contemplating! That would have been awesome! I hope they get together and do it one day! :D

“Gibbons also insisted in another answer that no matter what impact the Watchmen movie ends up having on the industry, he doesn’t want to see all comic book films ‘go dark.’ ”

Aw, jeez…and I was looking forward to seeing the dark, brooding Archie Andrews and his arch-nemesis, The Reggie-nator [-smirk!-]
