Great Scott!
Stone the Crowes!
You can put away your green tights, the Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott Robin Hood film Nottingham has been delayed from its mid August shooting date.
The re-imagining of the Robin Hood legend, which would have seen the Sheriff of Nottingham portrayed as the hero and legendary Robin Hood would have been shown to be a true scallywag.
It now looks like we won’t be seeing the film for at least another 2 years. If at all.
The reasons for the film falling apart are as follows:
|
|
1. The current threat of the SAG strike could have lead to the production shutting down during the shoot.
2. If the film was delayed it would lead to a lack of greenery in the Forest scenes, a must if our villain is taking up residence in Nottingham Forest.
3. The script wasn’t all that. The rewrite by Brian Helgeland didn’t produce a satisfactory draft that everyone could agree on.
Universal had this to say:
“The current version of the screenplay is not yet where the studio and the filmmakers want it to be in terms of realizing the full value of the story. Universal could have moved forward with one of these challenges, but the confluence of the three caused the studio to reconsider and take the time for all conditions to be optimal.”
Although they say that all of the principles remain attached to the project it doesn’t look too good. Scott burns through projects like they are going out of fashion and I’m pretty sure that Russell Crowe gets offered quite a lot of films too (mostly by Ridley Scott from the looks of things).
Will we ever see this version of the Robin Hood legend?
Possibly, but I don’t think that it will be with this talent attached.
Somewhere Sienna Miller is crying as her first legitimate starring role has bitten the dust.
Nottingham had been scheduled for release on Nov. 6, 2009.

Wow that sucks. I was actually a little excited about this project it sounded really cool and interesting.
Great News,
I would love to see a new Robbin Hood but true to the tale…
this idea was not cool…
Too bad, was looking forward to this one too
greets
This could of been cool. I guess Crowe can go back to throwing phones at people from his throne
Rob, this is 2008 amigo! Get a grip on yourself man, it’s out of date! What has happened in the past, just let it be. Crowe has learned his lesson. Don’t act like such a damn judge and try to crucify him over something he had apologized for. If you’re being so unforgivable towards other people’s fault, that’s your own business. But pls save yourself from humiliation by making your comment so public.
The news sucks! I was really looking forward to this. Hope it would turn around nicely. Go Sir Ridley!
Are you Crowes brother? I mean seriously i’m a fan of the guy but I’m no where near as defensive about him as you are nic. Calm down a little.
