The nacelles on this model look great!! Very detailed!! I for one agree that if they utilize this model (though with added realism given the increased film budget), I would fall down crying with tears of joy once I see this on film...
  • Vestige
I like everything about it except the see through panels in the nacelles. Why would you have that? It looks like it would be less protective thean the regular hull plating. Can you imagine a photon torpedo hitting that? It looks cool but this ain't pimp my starship.

Anyone can be awed by CGI and special effects, but Star Trek has always been about more than that. If the story and acting in Star Trek XI doesn't measure up to fans expectations, it'll be just another big budget disaster.

they should stick to the NCC-1701a design

it's worth pointing out that Gabriel Koerner is the blonde teen who got so much airtime in the original "Trekkies" feature - the one who had a uniform made for him and was doing, even back then, some very sophisticated CGI on his personal computer.

I really think it would better if they would just leave it the way it should be.
  • Jae Senn
Wow.. lovely.. But the transparent openings on top of the nacelles look like an attempt to bridge the old TOS warp nacelle design and the ST:TMP NCC-1701-C warp nacelles with the warm blue glow peeking out from louvers at the sides.

Maybe it'll look better without the open areas altogether, or placed at the sides ala NCC-1701-C but in a way that flows with the design.

FlameStrike totally nailed it,,,this is the paradox Star Trek is in right now...
    ^
They can come up with 200 designs for the 1701 Enterprise but there's really only one....and that's the one the MAJORITY wants to see.

    :< ooo paah

There is no pressure until you start to compromise and that's what their doing.

Forget the ship for one minute and think about how the acting has to be..
If its not perfect reguarding Pines and Quintos, kirk and spock it could border on comical.
"In my opinion" the actors have more to lose then Abrhams.

The majority? That raises an interesting question: Can you please the majority of the people as a whole by alienating of the majority of your fanbase?

Based purely on my own experiences and what I've seen and heard, I'd say this movie may be trying to find that out.
  • Hirogen
That's for damn sure. There is no way to make everyone happy. I guess they just do their best and hope to please the majority (HA!)
  • Vic
Like I've said before, I'm glad I'm not the guy in charge of this movie. :-)

    No pressure, eh?

I don't like this one. This doesn't look like a more detailed version of the original design, but like an entirely new design.

Changing the design of the original Enterprise will really distract me from the story in the movie, and can potentially ruin it for me.
  • Yeah, I really like this take on the design. I could do without the transparent areas on top of the nacelles though.

That looks absolutely awesome! I definitely think that would be an acceptable design for the movie. Lets keep our fingers crossed that we do get something along those lines. I mean I do like the remastered TOS version as I had stated in another post, but I like how this version takes the same design and almost "real worlds' it up" a bit.

I'm looking forward to seeing the trailer...
Hopefully that will answer some questions on the ship design.

This concept looks cool but not like the Original. The Original is fine and dosnt need a reboot. They should use the Enterprise from the Remasterd TOS version.
    ^
I think when all is said and done alot of us are going to say TOS didn't need a reboot.
    O well,they won't take my calls.

Looks damn cool!! It's the best Enterprize next to the original and the NCC-1701 A!! I hope the one used is something like this!!

Thanks for posting this,Vic! It was cool!

And that's coming from a guy who's more of a Star Wars freak than Trek, dude! ;-)
  • Joel
If something like this can be done, then I am for it. Shoot, use this one!
