Robert Palmar says:

I agree with your assessment.
Siegel/Shuster gain little holding on
to partial rights and DC gains little waiting.

It is in the interest of all parties
in this case to settle and I
suspect they will sooner
rather than later.

The meaning of “current”
is far from permanent.

Those no-names are going to bomb miserably…Lobo, the Loosers, Deadman? C’mon! That’s not better than The Spirit or Constantine! It’s less than nothing…Jonah Hex might work…but up against The Avengers, Spidey, X-Men???

DC/WB are screwed if they lose their grip on Supes…Batman will be done after the third outing and then?

I want Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern joining Supes and Batman in a life-action Justice League…anything below that goes below my and most people’s radar!

Kazuya says:

I thought they had the rights to the “origin” of Kal-El only…. If so than WB/DCE could conceivably do a superman film whenever they like.

I grow tired of his beginnings anyway…everyone knows how he came to Earth… let’s just pic up with him defeating General Zod, Ursa and Non (epic beginning) and go from there.

Lord Garth, Formerly of Izar says:

Zod returns for revenge
Bay directs
Moutnains shatter when they throw a punch
Cities shake
How friggen simple and amazingly cool a good Supes film could be!
Imagine the now somewhat hokey (but still effective because of the actors) In supes II with the CGI they could do today. ZOd pulling buildings down on Superman’s noggin. Supes picking up busses and beating Zod with them like a warclub

@ Lord Garth

Didn’t we already see that with The Incredible Hulk..at least with a cop car anyways…

Its entirely possible that moral rights could allow Siegel and Shuster to block such an effort. Conventional wisdom says that WB/DC will settle with Siegel and Shuster. I wonder if they’ll really profit all that much though? Definitely some bad blood there in the past.

On another level their is the question of culture. Since Corporations are counted as legal persons, it’s possible that culture is hamstrung or stifled. Because corporations will almost always have the upper hand at owning something like Superman, that means that it will never become public domain; Where its cultural ID and myth can grow. Our culture then becomes stifled by the system that the public has counted on. Does our culture have the right to grow beyond limits set by big money, or governmental powers?

Spiderman 2 says:

SR failed like TDK and Batman Begins. Hope this movie is better. If Warner Bros. still owns Superman then i hope they make a better improved version of Superman unlike the poor scrutiny that Superman returns was. And if they still own Batman then i hope they make the next Batman and Superman films better, because seriously, i`ve never seen one great action film delivered by DC/Warner Bros.

Gregory Young says:

i hope they DC holds on to Superman he belongs with them and i hope to see another Superman Film soon i hope that against all odds DC settles the lawsuit so they they can begin another film since they are working better now with all comic book properties we should see an improved Superman more action and hopefully great villains like Zod and braniac , darkseid ,doomsday but i wonder if they are gonna use Brandon Routh if not who will be the next Superman???

I hope too, that they have another version for SUPERMAN movie, I love superman I’ve watch it since the original version, please…
