January/February movie offerings are generally weak (save for diamonds in the rough like The LEGO Movie), but on the brighter side they bring with them new trailers for the anticipated titles of the summer blockbuster season. Case in point: over the past month or so, we've gotten first and/or different looks at several movies included in this year's May through August crop, like Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, 22 Jump Street and, most recently, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Similarly, the first footage from Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction (which arrives this June) was revealed during the past couple months. However, a different Summer 2014 project that also happens to involves Bay - as producer rather than director - will debut footage in about a month, according to one of its other producers - a little project known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, that is.

Galen Walker - a producer on the CGI-animated TMNT feature released in 2007 - is also producing the live-action cinematic reboot of the Turtles franchise, which has yet to unveil a single frame of footage (despite tie-in merchandise and poster leaks having already revealed the eponymous heroes' tweaked looks). That will change soon, according to Walker's latest FB update:

Ok- Cool Beans folks! the new "Ninja Turtles" Teaser will make it's debut in front of the New Captain America Film- April 4th. We are ready and prepared for lift off! Been a long haul.

No doubt, the teaser trailer for the TMNT reboot - along with an official version of the poster - will be released online a week or so before it begins showing with select reels of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in theaters. Walker referred to the project as Ninja Turtles - the abbreviated title it went under earlier in development - but there's no strong indication yet that the movie has switched back to that label. (It would certainly be a confusing move, seeing how Walker also included a picture of a chair with the full new TMNT logo on the back along with the FB post.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Most Anticipated Movies of 2014

Both Turtles and Marvel's Cap sequel will appeal to the action-loving comic book/geek demographic, so this announcement may feel like a bit of a no-brainer. Still, distributor Paramount Pictures could've premiered the TMNT teaser in theaters a week earlier, attached to the studios' Biblical tentpole Noah - though, again, Captain America 2 makes more sense as a launchpad than Darren Aronofsky's apocalyptic religious tale.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is based on a screenplay by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) - with Evan Daugherty (Divergent) rumored to have handled script revisions - though, after all the hullabaloo about radical changes to the Turtles' origin story, it's unknown just how much re-invention of the TMNT property will actually take place in the film. Well, besides the fact that The Shredder is now a guy named Eric Sachs, who looks like William Fichtner (The Lone Ranger).

Captaining the TMNT reboot is one Jonathan Liebesman, who previously directed Battle Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans, as well as Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning for Bay and his Platinum Dunes' label (which is backing the Turtles film). Taking into consideration the past work of everyone involved with this project, you start to get a feel for what kind of popcorn-munching blockbuster this film is probably going to be - whether or not it'll win over newcomers and/or resonate with longtime fans, is another matter.
