Nimoy Tells Bay To Call Him About Transformers 2

A few days ago, Screen Rant reported on Michael Bay’s desire to have his cousin and Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy voice the title character in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

While this sounds like a great idea and an obvious choice with Nimoy’s family connection to Bay, his status as a sci-fi icon and his previous involvement in the original 1986 Transformers movie, it’s not so simple for director Michael Bay. Bay is literally afraid to ask Nimoy to participate in the film with less than two months to go before its release.

In an interview with MTV, the issue was revealed by Bay in a laughing manner. He claimed that the voice actors on the movie get paid little and he’s afraid of disrespecting family members by calling Nimoy and giving him a lowball offer to play a part in the film. Because of that, they’ve not been in direct contact and have been using Bay’s mom as a go-between of sorts. The situation is ridiculous, I know.

In a similar style, Nimoy took the opportunity of one of his own interviews to respond to Bay. This occurred when El Guapo at Latino Review got a chance to speak with the original Spock during the Star Trek press day this weekend and asked him if Bay had contacted him yet.

Nimoy responded by looking into the camera and saying, “Call me, Michael! Call me!” I feel your pain Leonard, I tried telling him to call you in my previous article too. Nimoy continued on to say he’d gladly be a part of Transformers but for some reason Bay’s afraid to just ask. After that, Nimoy again pleaded for Bay to call him.

I’m sure this will be sorted out soon – could you imagine after all of this, if Nimoy weren’t in the film because Bay wouldn’t contact him? Don’t worry, we’ll be seeing… or hearing Nimoy’s voice in the film as The Fallen.

For now, be sure to check out Nimoy’s role in next Friday’s Star Trek. Live long and prosper!

Star Trek opens May 8th 2009 and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hits theaters June 24, 2009.

  1. Bay’s acting like a damn child. Idiot, he’s disrespecting Nimoy by not considering his professionalism in the first place as an artist.

  2. Once again, I have to ask if it matters at all. I adore Leonard Nimoy (and, honestly, think he would be above the material,) but who would KNOW he was in the movie without reading the end credits? We all remember hearing Megatron’s voice and blurting, “wasn’t Hugo Weaving supposed to be in this? Where the hell is his voice???” Oh, it was there all right, but buried under layers of over-processing. It was grunged, flanged, and bass-boosted to death until it sounded like every other robot voice.

Leonard Nimoy, I love you. I would marry you. I would get a sex change just to bear you a child. I would clone myself just so I can cheat on me with you. Don’t bother, sir. Trying to add class to this franchise with the addition of your amazing vocal talents will be like resuscitating a dead pig. Will it really be worth the smell?

  3. Or would that be “so that YOU could cheat on ME with me”? Yeah, that sounds more like it. I would clone myself so that I could steal you from me.

  4. i agree with the others with Nimoy in the film it’ll be better and i’ll have a Vald Reason to see it, other than the fact that i critsize the hell out of the 1st fil and probly this one to after i see it. But the souly because i was a die-hard fan of the series.

also it’ll score sum geek cred. for Bay, By getting GaLvaTron in the picture even if he’s not Voiceing GalvaTron.

    Lol

  5. Cmon bay, get nimoy in there.

  6. Star Trek and Transformers, good year for Nimoy.

  7. i agree w/ hamlet3k that you couldnt tell its was hugo weaving w/o seeing the credits, but they have done that several times, i mean i could barely tell it was him in “v for vendetta” or at least it they all dont do like vin deasel does and have all of his characters sound the same.

  8. I’m sorry folks, but the tranformers movie was one of the worst pieces of garbage I’ve ever seen. You would have to pay me to watch a second movie. The dialog, story, acting, etc sucked big time. I mean, how can you make a movie out of a toy? The original kid’s animated tv show was nothing but a giant commerical. Man, this is bad news and I hope that Nimoy has nothing to do with his cousin’s piece of crap.

  9. I am excited for this movies and look around to see almost every scene. I see first time and then to see again who would not see much continued deplorable.
