I already mentioned about a week ago that Wanted was WAY over the top based on the footage I saw at Wondercon.
Now you have the opportunity to see for yourselves with the release of the latest trailer right here.
It’s not as obvious due to the fact that you can’t see an extended sequence, but I think it’s crazy enough for you to get the point. This is the wildest reality-bending movie since The Matrix as far as I’m concerned.
Whether that’s good or bad remains to be seen.

For larger versions of the trailer head on over to the awful Myspace Trailer Park.
So whaddaya think? Uber-cool or hard to swallow?
Wanted opens on June 27th.

Honestly? It looks like crap. In fact, I think it looks like they’re still trying to milk the Matrix effects and stunts all these years later.
The actors seem wooden and without personality, and you really need some kind of redeeming factor like personality when you fill your movie with as much reality bending stunts this film put into its trailer.
The plot seems to be your basic “average Joe becomes extraordinarily gifted individual thrown into extreme circumstances” (and without anything apparently unique to separate it from the rest of the field), so I have every expectation that the plot will follow that template by the numbers. There goes any hope for redemption in the screenplay.
The only thing that I expect actually could redeem it is if it ends up falling into the “so bad it’s good” category, but I’m not getting the vibe that it’s bad enough for that, just your average mediocre bad.
Look Great Cant Wait to See and Angelina Jolie Looks So Hot In That Trailer
Insane. The visual of the guy going through the glass is like nothing I’ve ever seen before!
heath
Jerseycajun, I must agree with you.
It’s fun to see the reality bending special effects, BUT only when there’s a very logical and unique reason on how you aquire an extreme ability like that. IMO, copycatting the Matrix without it being explained in a thought-out, creatively, unique way is just stealing and predictably boring, sorry.
Wish they’d at least read the comic before trying to make a movie based on it.
WOW
It’s very extreme but I think it’ll make for some awesome action eye candy kinda like the matrix did. Keep in mind there’s probably other incredible stuff they don’t even want to show in the teasers.
I’m definately giving this one a chance
Jerseycajun, I was just starting to have fun. Why did you spoil it with truth?
Heath, the guy going through the window is compelling. Did you notice that he busts through from the “reflection side”?
Vic, I don’t know how a guy can have bullet-bending powers and it *not* be a super/psychic power. Isn’t that what you said earlier?
Sorry Jim, I just call it the way my gut tells me to
I know a lot of people have been reacting to the trailer with “OMG!!”’s but for me they’re “OCO”’s (Oh, come ON!!)
Oh brother this looks bad…
Jollie looks like she wieghs about 60 pounds. When she cringes it dosnt look hot…
This film is nothing but eye candy. Bad eye candy… Get that out of my eye Candy.
Bullets bending around objects , yea….right. Is this how desperate it gets?
Couldn’t care less about this “film” it almost looks like a comic parody flick.
You could throw in a different soundtrack with some one liners and turn this into a Naked Gun movie.
There’s mr freeman phoning in another forgettable authority figure role.
Man that guy bugs me. =x
Chuck meets the Matrix. hot dang…
Okay, it is wildly over the top with the enhanced bullet time effects. But it looks fun and that is all that seems to be promised here. Don’t go looking for anything deep and meaningful or Joseph Campbell-esque myth storytelling here, just hang on, sit down, shut up and enjoy the ride.
Everyone wants to compare it to The Matrix, but the story in the comic was much more similar to Fight Club than The Matrix.
Totally agree Creoleman its mindless fun, but I’m not paying 10 buck for mindless fun anymore.
And Brian, your right they keep bringing up the Matrix because of the bullet-time effects but this is NO Matrix. Its more like Zipper said the show Chuck…except even Chuck looks better than this pile.
“There’s mr freeman phoning in another forgettable authority figure role.”
I don’t understand actors like him. He’s in so many movies, but his characters never convey gravitas. He’s sort of a placeholder, mediocre. And I don’t think two seasons go by without him in another role, somehow plugging on, but never compellingly. Even Ben Affleck occasionally has a decent performance. (Notably the Jimmy Kimble piece, haha)
It looks like a good popcorn flick to me. I like action, I like special effects, I like explosions, so sue me. I’ve been very select in the movies I see lately and this one, at least to me, looks like a good diversion. We’ll just have to wait and see how it does.
