We at Screen Rant don’t usually cover music news, but today we’re making a rare exception for the titular track from This Is It, the documentary footage of what would have been the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s final tour. The song is now streaming free online, and we know a lot of MJ fans out there may want to have a listen, ASAP.
The song’s piano intro, string accompaniment and back-up vocals give it a lush feel while the funky guitar track is quintessential MJ. No sha-mo’s to speak of and he’s leaned off the exhalations that the world’s been using as shorthand for him for decades, but his genius is not mine to question.

The album on which you’ll find this song is the companion piece to Sony’s This Is It, the film compiling rehearsal footage from what was to be Jackson’s suppossed final world tour. The record will get a worldwide release on October 26th and 27th. In case you’ve been living under a rock in a galaxy 50 million lightyears from here, Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009.

Michael sounds calm throughout the song, which is unusual, although not unprecedented (see: “The Girl is Mine” with Paul McCartney). What do you think of what could be the last new song ever to be heard from one of the most influential entertainers in human history?
This Is It hits theaters October 30th, 2009 – though if you weren’t one of the lucky few to snag the almost immediately sold-out tickets, you might have to wait a bit to see it.

Beautiful song. Thanks for posting the link. Always a fan of Michael’s. Can’t wait to see the movie. Such sadness where there should be happiness, joy and adoration . . . . for Michael.
There is a blog about Michael and the unreleased Dangerous track ‘Work That Body’ from the writer/producer of this track and artist, Bryan Loren. He’s incredible. He also wrote and produced a lot of the other unreleased Michael tracks that are floating around. As well, he wrote and produced ‘Do The Bartman’ for The Simpsons. Michael sings backup with him on that. I love that track. There is also an unreleased track he wrote and produced by Janet from Rhythm Nation called ‘Work’. Loren’s work is excellent. He’s cute too. Michale Jackson was sure genius listening to his songs just feel so emotional.I would like to thank him for writing songs like Earth song or Man in the Mirror or Heal the World or Black or White .Nobody does that’s today like writing meaning full songs like he did .Thank you for posting this song Scott Miller will buy it and watch it in theater.Just feel sad that he is no more .

The song is beautiful and Michael sings it with such feelings and emotions. I can’t wait to see the movie and i will be buying the album. I hate that Michael is no longer with us physically, but he’s definitely here with us spiritually. There is no such thing as Michael is no more…he was, has been, and still is MORE. This is not really it, it’s just a new beginning for Michael. I only wish he were alive to celebrate his come-back with us. Rest in Peace Michael Jackson “King of Pop”
