Well here we go again. I’m fully prepared for a debate on this – but it looks like once again we’re going to be treated to what could be a really cool uber-action flick punctuated by moments of annoying stupidity. I was willing to give Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a chance… I really was. But I see that some of the more moronic aspects of the first film have not been left behind, but have instead latched a ride on Transformers 2 as well.

Before I go on, check out the brand spanking new Transformers 2 trailer yourself:
“What you are about to see is Top Secret. Don’t tell my mother.”
“I feel smarter already. Can you smell it?”
Just shoot me.
So we have John Turturro back as the moronic FBI agent, along with the vacuous parents of Shia LeBeouf’s character. Ugh.
I don’t have a problem with Megan Fox in the movie, and I certainly won’t complain about that cheesecake shot in the trailer – although if you’re one of those people making excuses for the retarded humor because “it’s for kids,” juxtapose that against what looks like a shot from a Maxim photo shoot. If you still defend that, it strikes me as disingenuous.
If I could somehow manage to block the dumb crap from my brain, the trailer actually looks pretty intense and awesome. I loved the locations and seeing those Transformers coming up from the depths of the ocean looked pretty intimidating and cool.
The word is that this one will be darker and more intense – that will make the “LOLs” stand out even in more stark contrast than the first. All I can hope is that maybe they decide to get all that out of the way early on and don’t interrupt tense battle and action scenes with a first grader’s one liners.
On the bright side it looks like Michael Bay may have fixed another annoyance from the first film: Unintelligible action scenes. From what is shown above it looks like the camera may actually have been pulled back a bit for a wider angle on the robot battles – it would be nice to actually be able to make out what’s going on during these fight sequences.
You can find HD versions of the trailer over at Yahoo! Movies.
OK. I’m ready. Bring it.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens on June 24th.

@Iron Knight
You know, I was thinking that same thing when I saw this newest trailer… I just figured they were waiting until closer to the release of the movie to really “show him off.” They did wait this long to actually SHOW and CONFIRM that Megatron was in the movie. Maybe in a few weeks, we’ll finally get our bearings on how large of an impact the Fallen’s character will have. IF they’re smart, they won’t “kill” him or dismiss him and use him in the most probable third movie.
Trailer was a bit corny cuz I saw it earlier on yahoo today. It appears that in this photo Megan Foxx has no undies. This will contribute to 25% of total gross profits. he he j/k about the gross profits.
@ Iron Knight
You’re right but at the same time I have to say something when takes stabs at me for no apparent reason.
Back to the discussion:
This trailer gave us more of what we wanted. The scene where Shia and Megan are jumping off a building as it explodes looked amazing. If nothing else, the action alone will carry this movie very far.
Iron knight
Bay stated the fallen is the ultimate badass so he’s making us wait until the movie. I think he only shows up near the end anyway leading to the third movie.
@sin, you’re probably right about that actually… lol
you know as for the military shooting at the robots, well it only took them ONE encounter w/ scorponok to reveal their weakness, and the same soldiers that were in the fisrst are in this one as well, so they should still know their weakness.
Well, obviously their weakness is not 5.56mm rounds from M16’s, lol. What was it, incindiary rounds or something that they used in the A10’s 30mm cannon and the Spectre Gunship’s artillery shells?
Oh, BTW Matt K, I’m agreeing with you, I feel that they should have learned what works and what doesn’t work from their encounters from the first movie, and obviously standing around shooting at it with their rifles is not what works.
I really want to know whether we’ll see soundwave fighting on earth or not. I have my hopes up!
ken j,
i believe they use high heat sabot rounds to pwn them
anyone here know who it was getting sucked into devastator?
@ Evan J and Cat
You’re probably right, he should be like “the real bad guy” this time with “all-mighty” powers
yeah i thinnk “the fallen” is gonna get as much screen time as megatron got in the first film.
In the interest of peace here on the forum, I’ve linked the Megan Fox image above to a much larger version of the pic.
Now please, go distract yourselves.
Vic
Getting sucked into the vortex is one of the twins. I think it’s mudflap but he grabs the side before getting sucked in.
@ Matt K, I’ve never driven a tank, but I have on Operation Flashpoint and I remember you have the choice between a regular sabot and a heat sabot, so that means those tanks should have a shot, lol.
Ok, I know absolutely nothing about that… anyway…
It kind of looked like that transformer being sucked in did something right as they cut that clip, so he might have escaped, you’ll see in the movie I guess. I’ll probably find out much later than you will, haha.
if you look closely you can almost see her left cheek, lol
@ Matt K, that’s one way to get people to watch the trailer again, lol. Geez, pervs…
Megan Fox once again restores peace and all is well
Ogb,
I feel bad for you having to deal with this crap while just wanting to talk about the footage. I have a site I want you to check out that’s all about transformers. Email me and I’ll hook it up. There is over 300 comments talking about the trailer since it came out and they break it down frame by frame with hd pics. Send me your email.
Hey Cat,
Thanks, but no harm done here, just an online forum.
I definitely want to check your site out. email is olegb139 @ yahoo.com
Thanks man
Thanks for the pic Vic, I’ll be doing some Photoshop shadow removing later tonight lol.
I just watched the trailer 4 times in a row and I’m pretty sure the mom’s lines are not going to be connected in the movie. The same goes for the FBI agents lines. The comment about secret’s and his mother appear to be at different sound levels and do not match the scene before he says it.
Maybe this won’t be as bad as first thought.
Hey Cat,
If you want to post a link to your site here, feel free. If it gets caught by the spam filter I’ll let it through.
Vic
That is soo cool, I meant Megan Fox !! HA HA !!
Okay, I wasn’t sure if you guys mind if I post a site or not.
@ Ogb
http://www.transformerslive.blogspot.com/
they have already updated it with a number of different plot stories since the trailer has been release. if you already know about the site then I guess I’m no help to you. enjoy
My friend liked it cos the CGI looked nice.
oh and I read in an interview with one of the writers that the humor is even more outrageous than the first movie so alot of you guys will not be happy. sorry for the bad news.
@English
The CGI is the best thing about these movies. ILM really does amazing work. Which is why it’s kind of disappointing that the character development of the first one was so weak, the humor was so dumb, and the action was shot at such close ups that you can’t really see everything. It could have been a much smarter movie with the great special effects, great story, great action, it would have been a total package, but oh well, those kinds of movies are very rare anyhow, didn’t really completely expect that from Michael Bay in the first place…
Cat
That’s an awesome site, THANKS. I did not know it and won’t read most of it because I don’t want any spoilers, but I have it bookmarked for sure.
okay how can they make it “darker” and have it still have outrageous humor?
