Theatrical Trailer for The Book of Eli

3 years ago by Rob Keyes

book of eli denzel washington Theatrical Trailer for The Book of Eli

The second trailer for the upcoming Denzel Washinton starrer, The Book of Eli, has debuted online ealier today and we have it here for your viewing pleasure.

The new promo builds on and extends what we saw from the first teaser trailer and shows off much more of the secondary characters, combined with plenty of action. We also get our first scenes of Mila Kunis in action as the character, Solara.

The story of The Book of Eli centers on Denzel’s character, Eli, travelling through the post-apocalyptic wasteland of America, protecting a book that may hold the key to civilization’s survival. On his journey, Eli meets Gary Oldman’s character, Carnegie, the man in charge of a run-down town, Carnegie learns about the book Eli possesses and puts his efforts into taking it for himself.

Here’s the new theatrical trailer:

This movie looks promising to me but I’m not big on Mila Kunis’ action-oriented character. After seeing her in an action role in Max Payne, her and weapons don’t work for me.

That being said, Gary Oldman and Denzel Washington can easily make up for that and I hope to see some awesome action from the leading man. The film’s cast also stars Jennifer Beals, Ray Stevenson, Malcolm McDowell, Michael Gambon and Tom Waits.

What do you think of the trailer?

The Book of Eli is directed by Albert & Allen Hughes and opens January 15, 2010.

    Sick man.
Denzel’s butt-whooping is seriously tight and Gary’s kicking butt by just existing as the amazing actor he is. Not sure about Mila but I’ll give her a chance ’cause this trailer is just awesome.

Looks great! Gary Oldman impressed me here as a sinister man as opposed to just being a crazy villain.

Looks like Terminator Salvation meets Indiana Jones meets Desperado meets I Am Legend. But still exciting.

Woot, but why can’t Ray Stevenson play a good guy? Oh well, still looks kind of cool.

Can’t wait for the Rome movie…

I’ve been a huge fan of the post-apocalyptic tale since reading The Stand and Robbert McCammon’s Swan Song. Since then I’ve read so many excellent “life after the (biological/nuclear/asteroid/zombie) hits and this fits wonderfully with that. We “had” Jericho (damn the cancellation loving bastards) now The Book of Eli, and The Road. Hopefully this movie doesn’t fall out. I’f they screw it up, well, I’d be pretty mad, max!. So, tell the postman to hold the mail, and lets us meet on the beach to make a stand, together we will face the dark advent of our video apocalypse! Alas, Babylon!. ;)

Trailer looks awesome-thank goodness they showed Ray Stevenson although I hope he is not as underused as he appears to be. I’m with you Ken-can’t wait for Rome.

Imagine if the roles were switched, and we see Ray Stevenson beating the crap out of everyone, lol.

I would love to see Ray in another lead role of a rally GOOD movie. Looking forward to The Irishman, and of course, Cirque de Freak (unfortunately another background role, I’m afraid).
