New Stills For The Wolfman Remake

Earlier today, Apple released the second official trailer for the long-awaited remake of The Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro. The trailer improved upon the first but seems to reveal a little too much about the film and its visuals – notably the transformation scenes from man to werewolf.

The film has been delayed again and again and with an over-revealing trailer and a typically weak February release date, there’s cause for concern about the quality of the film. That being said, I like what I’ve seen before and I’ll be there opening weekend (barring any more delays).

Screen Rant was sent a set of new stills for the movie from this new trailer and you can check them out after the jump.

The Wolfman is directed by Joe Johnston (October Sky, Hidalgo) and features a star-studded cast including Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving alongside Benicio Del Toro as the lead.

  1. I like the dark look of the film. I feel it adds a serious tone and comes off serious.

  2. LOVED the original with Lon Chaney Jr., Claude Rains, and Bela Lugosi. Can’t wait for this one!

(And no, I didn’t see it at the theater when it came out. I’m old, but not as old as Vic!)

  3. This film is going to be awesome. Gotta love the wolf.

  4. Hey…. on the 3rd page…

    Is that…

    Gollum??

  5. “typically weak February release date”
Say Rob why is their so much and not just here, anti-studio sentiment? Is it that hard to get a statement out of Universal’s PR department?

Approximately 85 percent of all valentines are purchased by women. What better way to get your fav in your arms after Valentines day than going to an old fashioned scary movie? This one’s theme is about as old fashioned as it gets…

  6. @ James,

    Good eye sir,

The Wolfman crosses over with the new Hobbit movies and in that scene Emily Blunt had stolen his “precious” ring ;)

  7. I too loved the original and the utterly sad pathos of Lon Chaney Jr. Plus it scared this sh*t out of me!!! Anything with Claude Rains is alway superior. I have high hopes for this movie but I think Del Toro is allllllllllllllllll wrong.
    Hope I’m wrong

  8. Very dark, very spooky, very gothic. I’m impressed! :)

I do have a question … the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held during the middle of February, so, will TV viewership for the Winter Olympics (which will be held in Vancouver) cut into the box office for The Wolfman, as well as other films, like Shutter Island, whose release dates will fall during the Olympics?

@Lord Garth, Formerly of Izar …

Initially, I thought Del Toro wouldn’t pull off the pathos necessary to make the character of Talbot (that’s the name I heard in the trailer) effective and compelling, but from what I’ve seen so far, I think that this film will be amazing.

  9. i love the dark look as well. universal know how to make great movies they add great story, cast, practical and cgi mixed well, and they do their horror films with a perfect darkness to them. cant wait to see the remake. and i hope they still plan to do a creature from the black lagoon remake and make it a dark film deep in the amazon jungles and maybe add in some giant tranchulas, and snakes, to kinda fit in with the untouched part of the world theme. kinda like the new king kong, and anaconda.now that film would be sweet.
