Four New Terminator: Salvation Images

Published 6 years ago by

Little by little, trailer by trailer, image by image we are getting an idea of what the new film Terminator: Salvation is going to turn out like. More than most movies set to be released this year this is one where movie fans will pounce on every little trailer, image and bit of info to try and figure out how they fit into the movie and what they could possibly mean.

Well today we have yet more images from the film, although this time we get a look at a couple of the people from the film and not the machines. Yeah, I know, not nearly as exciting but nonetheless it gives us another few glimpses of aspects of the movie:

Although I still don’t like this trend of putting established rappers into movie roles, significant or otherwise, I must admit Common in the last two images above doesn’t look too bad. Unlike something like Transformers, Terminator has always been about human survival against the attacking machines so we can expect and should accept a few significant human characters and for a lot of the film to involve them.

As I said above I know images of the human characters are far less exciting than those of the machines but I still think these four are pretty cool. Both characters look bad-ass (as we’ve all hoped for), particularly Moon Bloodgood (without a doubt one of the most unique names I’ve ever heard of) in the one where she’s shooting through the holes in that wall.

It’s no secret this new Terminator film is highly anticipated around these parts but let your anticipation be known in the comments section.

Terminator Salvation is set to open on May 22nd 2009.

  1. The gal in the first picture looks about 10x more hardcore than the guy in the last.

Looks good to me. Unlike the cybernetic organisms, it’s hard for humans to look illogical.

  2. Gotta disagree about the girl I don’t think the pictures are even remotely cool or bad ass. Then again I’m one of the few people who gets very tired of the trend that we have about putting girls in extremely so called “bad ass” roles.

  3. Love interest in this movie = fail

  4. And what does a shotgun do against a future robot? lol

  5. I have always thought Common would make a great action star since I saw him in that movie about assassins going after the magician. No rapper will top Will Smith but I think Common could become number 2 easily.

  6. Yeah I’m as wary as Sam L. Jackson about the rapper-turned-actor trend. But Common has earned his stripes. Smoking Aces, American Gangster, Wanted, were all good roles for him, and really he might’ve been the best part of Street Kings. I think he’ll do well here.

  7. American Gangster was a decent film and I love smoking aces I thought wanted was crap , but common works well for me. I think he is decent. Nothing great about him, but he isn’t bad.

  8. I think Common has the chops. Hell, if we can take Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as an actor, why not him? :-P

  9. I think Common is decent, but I would say The Rock is better. The Rock is talented and I would of never expected a man of his size to have that great of comedic timing.

  10. Doesn’t look gritty enough.

  11. I’m going to geek out for a minute in response to the “And what does a shotgun do against a future robot? lol” comment.

The Skynet hardware we’ve seen thus far in the previous movies is the top of the line (or end of the line). It’s the end result of decades of improvement and refinement. In Salvation we’re going to see the other end of the war – the first generation stuff as well as some design concepts that Skynet will ultimately abandon. That being the case, one can reasonably expect it to not match the durability of what we’ve seen before.

Further, depending on what you consider canon shotguns are directly addressed. In the William Wisher novelization for The Terminator we get a peek into Kyle Reese’s head when he first confronts the terminator at the Tech Noir nightclub. The novel explicitly mentions Kyle hoping that it’s a 700 series terminator and not an 800 series, as the 700 series isn’t as armored and can be disabled with a few well-placed shotgun blasts.

    [end of geek rant]

Love the photos. I tried not to get too psyched about the movie, but it seems that every photo, trailer, or bit of information erodes my initial misgivings even further. I can’t wait for May!

  12. Yah, and if you remember from T1, even though he was a 800 series, the shotgun blasts still put him on the ground. So it’s good for something no matter what…

  13. Yes, I’m excited. These pics, like you said, aren’t all that excited, but prove that Common isn’t going to be all that bad in the movie. He kind of has that “I haven’t shaved because I live in the future” look already anyways. I just hope this movie is really, really dark.
