Reverend says:

The gal in the first picture looks about 10x more hardcore than the guy in the last.

Looks good to me. Unlike the cybernetic organisms, it’s hard for humans to look illogical.

Gotta disagree about the girl I don’t think the pictures are even remotely cool or bad ass. Then again I’m one of the few people who gets very tired of the trend that we have about putting girls in extremely so called “bad ass” roles.

Love interest in this movie = fail

And what does a shotgun do against a future robot? lol

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

I have always thought Common would make a great action star since I saw him in that movie about assassins going after the magician. No rapper will top Will Smith but I think Common could become number 2 easily.

ppnkof says:

Yeah I’m as wary as Sam L. Jackson about the rapper-turned-actor trend. But Common has earned his stripes. Smoking Aces, American Gangster, Wanted, were all good roles for him, and really he might’ve been the best part of Street Kings. I think he’ll do well here.

Daniel F says:

American Gangster was a decent film and I love smoking aces I thought wanted was crap , but common works well for me. I think he is decent. Nothing great about him, but he isn’t bad.

I think Common has the chops. Hell, if we can take Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as an actor, why not him? :-P

Daniel F says:

I think Common is decent, but I would say The Rock is better. The Rock is talented and I would of never expected a man of his size to have that great of comedic timing.

Doesn’t look gritty enough.

I’m going to geek out for a minute in response to the “And what does a shotgun do against a future robot? lol” comment.

The Skynet hardware we’ve seen thus far in the previous movies is the top of the line (or end of the line). It’s the end result of decades of improvement and refinement. In Salvation we’re going to see the other end of the war – the first generation stuff as well as some design concepts that Skynet will ultimately abandon. That being the case, one can reasonably expect it to not match the durability of what we’ve seen before.

Further, depending on what you consider canon shotguns are directly addressed. In the William Wisher novelization for The Terminator we get a peek into Kyle Reese’s head when he first confronts the terminator at the Tech Noir nightclub. The novel explicitly mentions Kyle hoping that it’s a 700 series terminator and not an 800 series, as the 700 series isn’t as armored and can be disabled with a few well-placed shotgun blasts.

[end of geek rant]

Love the photos. I tried not to get too psyched about the movie, but it seems that every photo, trailer, or bit of information erodes my initial misgivings even further. I can’t wait for May!

Ken J says:

Yah, and if you remember from T1, even though he was a 800 series, the shotgun blasts still put him on the ground. So it’s good for something no matter what…

Salvation says:

Yes, I’m excited. These pics, like you said, aren’t all that excited, but prove that Common isn’t going to be all that bad in the movie. He kind of has that “I haven’t shaved because I live in the future” look already anyways. I just hope this movie is really, really dark.
