A new trailer has appeared online exclusively over at Empire for the new Bruce Willis sci-fi/action-thriller, Surrogates. Based on the graphic novel, The Surrogates, and directed by Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3), the film is set in a world where humans live their lives through robot surrogates. Willis plays Agent Greer, a homicide detective who has to leave his home for the first time in years in order investigate murders of other surrogates and their users.
Empire’s exclusive Surrogates trailer isn’t drastically different to the first trailer in terms of giving away much more about the plot, but we do get a new opening section that’s reminiscent to the viral marketing materials, as well as it showcasing some of better action scenes – complete with explosions galore. For now, you can view the trailer over at Empire, but be sure to keep an eye out around these parts for when it becomes available as we’ll put it up here.

We’ve been seeing quite a bit of stuff from Surrogates over the last few months – including posters, TV spots and behind-the-scenes stuff – and although it hasn’t looked like anything earth shattering or life changing, I still like enough of what I’ve seen to see it when it opens in theaters. Added to a cool premise and some nifty looking special effects and action sequences, we also have quite a cast: Starring alongside Bruce Willis, we have James Cromwell, Radha Mitchell, Ving Rhames and Rosamund Pike.
Does anyone else think that the film looks like Avatar meets I, Robot? For some reason I can’t get that combo-comparison out of my mind whenever I see anything from it. Time will tell if it actually turns out to be anything like those two movies.

Looks like a mix of I Robot and the matrix.
Looks like a decent Bruce Willis sci-fi/action flick to me. I’ll be there to check it out when it opens.

I can’t help but think this is another rebel-group-taking-down-new-technology movie, but it still looks pretty good to me.

The good thing is even if the film around him is bad, Bruce will always turn in a solid performance.
I just want to look that good when I go bald.
I think I’m going to have to watch this. Interesting bit of info, James Cromwell was in I, Robot as well as Surrogates. Maybe he plays something of the same character.
Why do I even bother watching these new trailers? I’m going to watch this no matter what, no need for a trailer, they should just say “Bruce Willis will be in [insert movie name here]” and they already got one guaranteed ticket buyer right here, lol.

Decades ago I actually thought this idea might be a good way to relieve sociological problems, like traveling long distances back and forth to work and being unavailable for family interaction. This cranks the whole idea up by several orders of magnitude and has caught my interest as where someone else has taken the same idea. I was satisfied with the idea of donning the VR equipment, my surrogate stepping out of a closet at work, and interacting in that arena alone.
Looks interesting. Good story and looks like pretty good action as well. Any idea what it will be rated?
