Sucker Punch movie clips Three New Images from Sucker Punch

Zack Snyder is one of those directors that you either love or hate. If you don’t think that’s true, just listen to someone who liked Watchmen talk to someone who didn’t like it. The conversation can get pretty heated.

I happen to fall into the “love him” camp. In my opinion, Snyder’s hyper-stylized camera work and meticulous attention to set design really add a new dimension to his movies, even when the story-telling is somewhat lacking. That’s one of the reasons why I’m excited to see Snyder’s new action/fantasy film Sucker Punch.

Everything we’ve seen from Sucker Punch so far – from our first look at Comic-Con to the most recent Sucker Punch trailer – has cemented the film as one of our most anticipated movies of 2011. Recently, MovieWeb got a hold of three new images from the film. While not as explosive as some previous material (in the literal sense that they don’t show any explosions), these new images are still quite interesting.

Check out the three new images below. Unfortunately, we don’t have higher resolution versions, but if you’re feeling really desperate for eye-popping action, check out this recent batch of clips from the movie.

As I mentioned before, there’s nothing explosive about these images, but there’s still plenty to admire. One thing that strikes me about the second image is just how much Scott Glenn looks like David Carradine. It’s almost eerie, as if Carradine came from beyond the grave to turn in one last performance as a martial arts master.

As for the first and last images, look at the level of care and detail put into the set design. The calendar/time sheet board behind the girls in the last image is a good example. From the yellowed paper to the different handwriting on each piece of paper, the prop is entirely unique and adds to the look of the scene. It may not seem like much, but small details like that help movies make stronger connections with audiences. For more details on the making of Sucker Punch, check out this recent featurette from the movie.

Sucker Punch hits theaters on March 25th, 2011.

  1. Dragons, mechs, and hot women kicking ass. I can’t wait for this movie.

    • Yeah I can’t wait to see this film either.

    • ure not the only1

  2. Man, those girls look sexy and ready to go to war.

  3. I really can’t wait for this movie one of my most anticipated for 2011

The carradine similarity is scary for a split second I thought it was him till I remembered he was dead lol

    • Maybe he’s a Force Ghost possessing him.

  4. I guess I’m the only one who thinks that this movie looks pretty stupid.

The plot is kind of a ripoff of Pan’s Labyrinth to some extent, and I didn’t like that movie either.

If I want to see hot chicks,I’d just watch porn, and I couldn’t care less if they are swinging swords of shooting guns.

    • lol….

    • You’re not the only one, Longshanks.

    • Gasp! I happen to think chicks with guns are real sexy :) guns are my weakness…

  5. Visually it certainly looks good, and how can anyone hate a director cool enough to use Cash’s When The Man Comes Around over the apocalyptic montage in Dawn of the Dead?

  6. Is that Snookie in the back? Haha

    • She’s too tall to be Snookie lol. Unless, she’s stepping on a chair lol.

  7. guess what fan boys?!!! i met roarshach himself tonight i met jackie earl hayley in a resterurant in san antonio texas tonight got his autograph and a picture with him it was epic he was the coolest!!!!!!!!! i met freddy!!!!!

    • Here’s a cookie…….

      • can i have som milk with that old man?

  8. And here I thought Tron Legacy cheesed out on the visual effects. Is this the same guys who did the effects for Watchmen? Holy crap!

I’d be a fool to pay to see this film.

  9. Thanks for the article and pics – I’m looking forward to this movie. :) Love Snyder’s work.

  10. Don’t see anything I haven’t seen before here. It’ll be a great eye candy movie though.

  11. Oh look how innovative. Slutty women in traditional male hero roles. They’ve only done that a few thousand times now.

Why don’t they try something really edgy like women who aren’t all that hot, in clothing that makes sense for combat and bad weather and they are reasonably intelligent.

  12. I love the trailers for this, as shallow as it appears, but I’m afraid to get my hopes too high. I was disappointed by all of Snyder’s endeavors and I fear this will be the same.

  13. Zack Snyder couldn’t be more over rated. He’s a one trick pony and that trick is time ramp the crap out of a film. Plus the vfx in his films look so bad. Who’s his visual effects guy anyways? He better find a better one for Superman.

  14. Yea this is all great and stuff… but analyzing 3 lousy photos that meticulously is a bit much. I was uber hyped for this film when the first trailer was released. I’m a huge fan of snyders work (mostly just watchmen honestly) but doesn’t anyone know that this is going to be pg13?? That seems like a cop out to me on mr snyders part. His films are usually uber violent/stylized with lots of limb chopping/breaking and blood… and of course his signature slo mo moments. But I’m not ruling this film out just yet im just saying the pg13 rating doesn’t really seem to help its chances… I can understand wanting to get a more diverse crowd but this doesn’t seem right. Also early reviews said that there actually wasn’t that much action… again this doesn’t bother me too much I just wanted to inform ppl what they were getting into :) cheers
